Thanks for posting that Ady.
It looks lighter blue but it still looks blue, where as here it looks pinky orange (even in it's shadows) :
It's less blue, from what I can see.
Thanks for posting that Ady.

Well it looks like whatever was used to capture the image from the star wars site has given it a pink tint. Here is a better capture:
But the dark areas of the death star defiantly look like they have a brownish tint
and here is a comparison between the 1997 SE & blu-ray trailer versions of vaders sabre in ESB.
erghhhhhhhhhh.

looks a little bit more red then the Dvd but still pink.
One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

Just couldn't help but laugh at this quote:
"The first three films were done on film, so they were never seen like this before. We’ve never seen them at this resolution, so you’re going to see things that you’ve never seen before," said Goodson.
Ermm, yes we have on our HDTV's for the past few years, or have i been imagining the HD broadcasts?
Not to mention that if you were lucky enough to see them in 70mm, you'd have seen them in higher resolution.

The new official trailer is now up:

so they went in and fixed the crossed lightsabres (and the Emperors slug by the looks of things)yet made Vaders sabre even more pink in ESB. The colours of ESB still look pretty screwed.
Of course, now Vader's saber is a lovely shade of purple, but they did fix the "slugs" which is nice. Let's see if they fixed ALL of them, or only on the shot we were bitching about.
Here's what I managed to do last year by changing the brightness:
And here's what I got when I actually worked at it and bothered to replace the lightsabers:![]()
I'll give the Bul-ray a 9 on the head slugs that are gone now,and a 6 on the Lightsabers.you nine on every thing in this shot.

Well seeing Palpy's face is a bit of a priority isn't it :D
danny_boy, you want to continue to insult me over at Blu-ray.com just to get me suspended if i retaliate then fine. You have a beef with me then bring it directly to me instead of your pathetic backhanded swipes about me in comments to other members over there.
You're whole argument that "vaders sabre has always been pink" was flawed from the start because you chose to ignore that it was the glow we were talking about and not the core. You used screenshots from the baltimore showing to prove your point, even though the glow clearly showed that vaders sabre was always red. And then you bring 005 into your argument and posted his screenshot of the sabres which had nothing to do with the discussion at all.
Now back on topic kenobi3 over at blu-ray.com just posted this look at the special features disc menu (disc 7) for the prequels:
Personally, I hate dvd/bluray menus and find them (particularly the transitions) a waste of time.
But these are pretty menus, so good job menu-guys.
I was going to say that like that the menus are split up by movie and by world...until I realized how long it would take to get through to the one thing you wanted to watch.
I guess it's a Star Wars trait. The DVD menus were great, and there was nothing like them on DVD.
I just had to... this comparison disturbs me on so many levels. GOUT was released in 2006, if the guy who wrote it refer to the original year of release it should be 1983. ;) Secondly, it's not the same visual effects in the original film as in the SE, hence not exactly the same shot. Third, the '93 THX transfer is not a good example in how that shot is supposed to look, that transfer is horribly green tinted in many of those space battle shots.
But in the end it's all pretty pointless when the last thing Lucas want is to make his new edits look anything like the original films, don't be surprised when the colortiming differ in his new video releases when the goal of these versions wasn't to replicate the original color pallette in the first place. (not to be confused with the various glitches in the 2004-master of course;)
The day when the original films get released (if it ever happens) is when I will start to bitch about colors if something looks funny, these fake versions isn't even worth the energy.
We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.
Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

I for one will stick my neck out and also say the 2004 DVD menus were great.
Shame about almost everything else though.

I don't think you're sticking your neck out too far. Aren't the Van Ling menus for the 2004 set and the Prequel DVDs widely considered very good work?
I wonder if he did these....

The menus were the best thing about the 2004 DVDs. It comes to something when the menus look better than the films themselves; correct colours, no crushed blacks, just how the films should have looked. There seemed to be more care put into the creation of those menus than the end product of the movies.
Really??
The menus were quite neat and creative, but seriously, they looked 5 times more fake than the worst cases of CG in EpII.
Which is alright for a menu, but come on, look at Obi-wan fighting Jango in the language selection, then compare it to the scene... really?

Look at Luke training in the Falcon in the Extras DVD and then compare it to the scene.
Really.

And, please tell me where i even mentioned anything about the Cg when i said about how good they looked? I'm pretty sure that i was talking about the colours, crushed blacks etc. And i certainly don't remember Obi-Wan fighting jango in the 2004 DVD menus. Was jango in the OT? Was that addition to the SE's that i missed ;) Really?
EDIT: I guess you were replying to TVs Frink and not me. Didn't see his post before mine. Sorry
Oh, wait, sorry, my brain had a massive black-out when I wrote that... just ignore it :D

Those guys from the press asked such lousy questions that have been asked before and have nothing todo with the blu-ray release.
"Q: Is everyone SW fan?"
"Q: What is your most cherished SW memory?"
"Q:Did you [as a actor] get the part you wanted in Star Wars?"
"Q: GL has changed the movies over the years - what would you change?"
"Q: How you would you recommend watching the six films for the first time? 456, then 123 or the other way?"
"Q: What do you feel about the fandom?"
"Q: Is GL right to change the films? Is there more monkeying around?"
"Q: What's the future of Star Wars?"
"Q: What do you think of Star Wars in 3D?"That was supposed to be an ILM presentation?
Actually, I think those are all very good questions.
