Star Wars Rumors

Posted By Dustin on December 30, 2006

Please note that this is pure rumor at this point, but still it's one that makes you say "Hmmmmmmm"...

The following email was recently received from an anonymous source.

Mr Lucas was overheard by an associate of mine at a private party in Los Angeles discussing the use of new digital technology. He mentioned, a Star Wars Series, between Episodes VI-VII possibly with HBO. Also, Star Wars, Episodes VII - IX and a probable new director were discussed.

Now we know there is going to be a Star Wars TV series already and my guess is the episode information there was mis-relayed. What's interesting to note is this is the first mention we've heard of HBO. Could they be in the running for picking up the live action series?

Now this last part is interesting too because it is totally do-able in my opinion! Don't let the franchise slow down George! Give the reigns to Kevin Smith, Kyle Newman or any other number of great young Star Wars influenced directors. Let's pass the torch and keep the story alive!

Interesting. Kevin Smith? No thanks! Speilberg? Maybe. His last few projects have been so-so. And I don't want to see Tom (Cruise or Hanks) in a Star Wars movie. If George writes the story AND NOTHING ELSE, it may be good.

What about Jerry Bruckheimer being the producer. I like his films and think he could keep Lucas in line if Lucas directed again. And this is just a suggestion Gore Verbinski directing. I know some people don't like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies but I think Gore did a fantastic job.

Didn't TFN update this weeks ago stating that it was bogus? Well, the bogusness of it should be obvious anyway. The TV series is set between Episode III and IV, not VI and VII. Like any newspaper, when theres no news to report they have to invent some, and here TFN has to resort to "friend of a friend overhead" stories when official info stops flowing in.

it totally reads like supershadows crap. don't bother believing it.

Which begs the question, Cracker....WTF were you doing reading TF.N?

Well of course it's bogus. Things are just so slow recently. At least january's almost over. As far as tv/film set after ROTJ is concerned, I wouldn't rule it out any more than I would the OT seeing a decent dvd release. LFL's just that unpredictable.
