Is anybody familiar with moving audio lines to the side while still keeping the music intact? I’m trying to remove Rey grabbing the books in the middle of the Resistance meeting discussing Palpatine’s message for the following reasons:

  1. Rey’s lightsaber is seen prominently on her even though she just gave it to Leia.
  2. The Jedi texts were left by Rey on a crate, but when she returns to them they are suddenly in the box.
  3. A line plays in the background that is contradictory to the original trilogy. It suggests that the galaxy always knew about Palpatine’s Force abilities.

Any help would be appreciated in this endeavor. If we can get this working right I think Hal would be more interested in it.

I don’t doubt it’d be doable, that’s not the issue. The first thing to try would be to edit out the portions of relevant audio from the channels in which it appears, then cover that with stuff from other channels. Sometimes you can get more mileage out of adding audio from multiple other channels to avoid a direct repeat of just one channel.

My editing software doesn’t have access to specific audio channels (as far as I’m aware) but I might be able to stitch this together using Audacity exports. 3PO’s lines are luckily isolated enough to make this possible I believe.

EDIT: So apparently something got even more messed up with my editing software. Now whenever I try to remove a separated audio track it removes the video above it along with it (even though I’ve separated them). Well, I guess I can’t do fan edits anymore unless I either fix this or find new software.

I am not an expert by any stretch of my imagination, but I would try to find out which music was used for this scene and use it to replace the audio you cut. Especially when it comes to Star Wars there’s no track you can’t find.

Except this scene, where the track is unreleased (there’s actually quite a few tracks you can’t find from TROS).

Ah shoot, that’s tricky

If it’s the left and center tracks that have the line, say, then you might be all right to copy and paste the right audio channel and perhaps a different combination of the rear channels for each. And maybe add a touch of it to the right channel too so it doesn’t stand out.
You can get it pretty convoluted but it’s whatever works. Just preview the front and rear channels separately to make sure they sound seamless separately and not just altogether.

My stance on revising fan edits.

I’d like to replace on of C-3PO’s lines with something along the lines of “There’s a call coming in from the Resistance.”
Anyone have any ideas where I can find a suitable line?

I’m not sure if it could work but maybe you could trie to sentence mix the scene in Episode II where 3PO tells Padme that they have a message from Obi-Wan

So, here’s an idea I have inspired by some concept art for the deleted “Eye of Webbish Bog” scene I saw yesterday.

What if the planet Kylo acquires Vader’s Wayfinder from ISN’T Mustafar? We wouldn’t have to change much for it, save for the initial planet shot at the very beginning. The scene already doesn’t really look like Mustafar and it could just be retconned to being a forest on a planet that’s been burned by the conflict occuring.

I think there could be two ways to approach this retcon (one being more radical than the other):

  • Less Radical: We make the planet some random planet, maybe one that’s Jedi/Sith adjacent (Tython?). We then would retcon the Alazmec colonists as being either scavengers or some Force-related group such as the Church of the Force who happened to find Vader’s wayfinder and were keeping it.

  • More Radical (and this one honestly kind of leans on Hal’s edit although it could be justified for others as well): We make the planet Endor and the colonists could be retconned as being some of Jannah’s rogue Stormtrooper group. From memory, I don’t recall the colonists being too alien looking. I just remember them being sort of bulky armored guys. And as for the justification for why the Wayfinder would be on Endor… Vader was on Endor for a little bit, right? So, maybe the defected group ransacked the Imperial base on the planet after they defected to look for weapons and supplies and happened to find a little souvenir Vader was storing there for the time being?

Obviously, a lot of this isn’t 100% logically thought out (I can see someone responding, punching holes into this idea). However, I wanted to just put it out there for you all to mull over.

Considering TROS Mustafar looks nothing like ROTS Mustafar, I would love to see a regrade that looks like the concept art. You wouldn’t have to name it, but you could call it Wayland. Might be fitting since the Sith Fleet is reminiscent to the Thrawn trilogy’s Katana Fleet.

Does anyone say “Hello There” at any point during the sequel trilogy? Cause there’s audio of Rey saying it in a game: https://youtu.be/GC7ex3Ekhx4?t=397

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Am I making Carrie Fisher’s ghost proud?”
Well, are ya, punk?

Seeing as I cut a lot of Kylo in Snokes thrown room in TLJ I was playing with the idea of rotoing that footage and having Kylo enter Vaders castle to find the wayfinder chest using interior shots from Rogue One. He’ll kneel down before removing his helmet so what could be say?

I wonder if someone can/did make a large database of voice clips from this and the Battlefront games ala that one for LEGO The Force Awakens game.

I’ve got a fairly large folder full of VO clips and phrases. Remind me via PM and I’ll try to upload it tomorrow if I have space on my drive.

It should be fairly easy to roto as the black on red is a great contrast. Its more the point of what he would say?

Does Kylo really mention his grandfather after TFA? I use his fight to kill Vader in my cut so not sure if it should be more of a Palpatine speech, Vader speech or kylo just doing something before opening the chest?

He doesn’t mention his grandfather much at all, actually. Which, now that it’s pointed out, is a bit weird, and probably contributed to the slightly disjointed nature of the sequel trilogy. In-Universe, the timeline is really broken: When fighting Rey, he’s obsessed with the Skywalker legacy being his life’s purpose…10 minutes later he’s smashing it up. It’s as if TLJ Kylo is not the same character as TFA Kylo when viewed as a whole narrative.

If one were to restructure the entire sequel trilogy better, the helmet smashing would be far better 1/2 through Rise.

Here’s something fun I came up with while searching through Kylo’s LEGO lines:

https://youtu.be/RFUNUZBf5I8

It’s nice to have a fun callback line to Vader, who Kylo glorifies, but I personally feel like this line wouldn’t work. The line being there creates the implication that Kylo really wanted to kill Rey instead of test her. Still thought I would share it here for those interested.

You could argue he just means he found her, or she’s in his grasp. But yeah, it might make people think that he intends to kill her when he says that.

I actually used that line in a test I did of their force back duel. I had taken out Kylo’s line, “You know why the Emperor always wanted you dead. I’ll come tell you” for some Rey Nobody tests. So they fight, he sees Vader’s helmet land at his feet, he realizes where she is, they clash a little bit more, and when their faces are close, he says, “I have you now”, then disappears.

That could work too. I just couldn’t resist the urge to put it in the clip I shared because he is in his ship when he says it and you can hear the tracker start going off right after he says it lol.

EDIT: Dammit, I really like OT callbacks despite how this one would screw things up. Perhaps he is simply saying that he has her cornered now, and she has to use the dark side to escape it? Idk, I’m definitely making crap up lmao.

I kind of like that scene partly because it has no dialogue.

Thanks! Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I like where you have it too Jar Jar.

EDIT: Anytime I type your name I can’t help but think I’m having conversations with literal Jar Jar Binks.
