Beautiful!

Yeah, optical flow is pretty cool, it fills in the gaps between frames so slow mo looks far more seamless.

That whole sequence is looking awesome. The only thing I might suggest changing is that I don’t like breaking up the clip of the ties flying above the forest.

I’d have the full shot of the ties above the forest, then the pilot, then cut to the troop carriers landing.

What would really be good is another shot of the ties, like coming at the camera, that appears after the pilot. But I’d have to find one and some how animate them into frame, and I’m not great at that.

Below, is my reasoning for the placement of the tie pilot shot. I tried things in different orders but it kept coming back to this (which, personally, I really like). Still, I don’t presume to think that there is any single correct sequence. If others end up using any of this, it will be cool to see all the different versions they come up with.

The ties come into formation by the end of the castle shot. The tie pilot stays in the middle of the forest fly-over shot because this is the drop zone. Before the shot, he has not scoped out the forest yet. After the shot, there is no implied space of time before the drop happens. To me, having him state that the drop zone is clear gives us a reason for the ties to be there in the first place, as well as connecting us to seeing the eventual troop drop.

I might give the other shot you mentioned with the ties coming at the camera a try at some point.

Thank you again for the great tip on optical flow!

I don’t know if there’s ever been a studio recording of this version but I love it and it would be a nice song to fill in some of the musical gaps, or even for TFA or TLJ

Lovely!

I’m hesitant to click music links these days because of the danger on hitting yet another Samuel Kim video, but this was a pleasant surprise.

I’m tempted to put this into my TFA edit as is.

Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? - oojason

Yeah I wish there was a higher quality version because I would totally put it in TFA or TROS

I’ve just looked at that clip on a big screen and it looks awesome. Please thank your brother for me.

I’m looking for a 4 second clip involving Coruscant and Kylo but I can’t remember if his resurgent class battlecruiser was ever destroyed?

Has anyone else here seen Episode 5 of Season 2 of the Mandalorian? Without spoiling anything, I’ll say that the opening scene of the episode has some shots that might work as inserts for Kylo Ren’s scene on Mustafar.

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Am I making Carrie Fisher’s ghost proud?”
Well, are ya, punk?

That shot of the moon of Corvus could definitely double as Mustafar.

I’m adding star destroyers to various planet scenes for Palpatines message. I’ve completed most of them but I’m not happy with the Coruscant part. I was thinking of removing Dooku’s solar sailor from him leaving Coruscant and panning to Kylos battleship but I couldn’t remember if it was destroyed at any point? I’m using the deleted Kylo bridge scene from TLJ and adding Coruscant planet in the windows.

That was exactly my thoughts. Is it worth extending the Mustafar scene though?

Could I get a link to the ones you’re satisfied with? That could be awesome for the broadcast.

As for Star Destroyers being destroyed, I think it technically may have been destroyed in the Holdo manoeuvre, but it’s not confirmed at all (had to deploy that ground assault from somewhere). His Destroyer from Rise doesn’t get destroyed until it’s someone else’s on Exegol.

I don’t think so, and I honestly like the Mustafar planet shot we have in TRoS.

I wasn’t referring to the planet shots, I meant the shots of the masked guards running through the burnt forest. Maybe with some different tinting they could be used as build-up before Kylo Ren’s appearance.

Oh, those shots could definitely be used. Need a tiny bit of colour correction, but yeah. Might help give the rest of the scene context that it lacked in the film.

I’ve just noticed that all the clips from Episode one are really grainy. Was this movie ever remastered? It really stands out next to other clips.

Did we ever see the bridge on Rise destroyed? If I use the red stripped floor from TLJ do you think people will moan about continuety?

I’m trying to add one more Mustafar planet establishing shot with the 3 tie fighters but I don’t think anymore forest footage is needed unless we get a deleted scene of the giant and Oracle creatures.

Just rotoscope it out with EbSynth. Not like that’s ever been tedious. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I’ve not used EbSynth yet but I am teaching myself after effects. It’s fun but it takes up a lot of time, so just wanted to make sure before doing the work.

Has anyone ever tried to change the color of Pasaana’s sand? Like changing it to red just to make it feel more distinct from all the other desert planets in Star Wars.

Use the Force, Jon Yowza.

Screw red. If I wanna Pasaana to be distinct, I’m gonna make it distinct. I’m talking teal green sand or something.

Skenera made a good LUT removing the overly orange warmth on Pasaana. It makes all the other colours pop so much more, but I’m not sure changing the actual sand colour would be easy or worth it. There’s already a lot of reds, greens & blues in this movie so it would have to be something else for it to be “distinct”

Nah, already making Ajan Kloss purple and calling it Teth.

Tbf, those are the primary colors, so that’s pretty much all bases covered. The next logical step would be secondary colors, so yellow, magenta, and cyan.
