Yeah, I dig it.
Peace is a lie
There is only passion…

Yeah, I think that looks absolutely lovely. Maybe that’s a tad more of an aura than of the green smoke that I’d imagined, but I think that adds real value and gives a nice sickly clash with the red of Palpatine’s robe.
I really like this idea. Hopefully the green effect could be shrunk down to the fog immediately surrounding Palpatine’s life-support machine and throne. And some SFX taken from Clone Wars could really sell the effect.

I hadn’t thought about it, but I just realized the unintentional symbolism of Anakin’s Lightsaber and a Purple Lightsaber being used together to defeat Palpatine… because that’s what should have happened on Coruscant all those years ago.
You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Am I making Carrie Fisher’s ghost proud?”
Well, are ya, punk?

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

That’s good, real good. The sequel trilogy needed more of that.

If I had more free time and an actual computer then I’d go all out on recoloring Exegol, because I could probably do it fairly okay. Hopefully somebody carries this further. I’m just not sure how anybody could recolor Jonh’s force ghost edit well enough to keep the blue in them unless he were to redo the effects himself with his assets over a recolor.
For anyone interested, this is my latest work on the intro to the Battle of Mustafar. This is a major improvement over my last effort to include Vader’s castle. To me, this gives clear context as to where exactly this scene is taking place (on Mustafar, near Vader’s fortress), because in the theatrical version, it is entirely unclear unless you have read the novelization.
The additional music is from the original piece that John Williams composed for the opening scene but was not used. I have already inserted this into my own edit of TROS.

Ack, I was hoping to take a look at it but it’s gone now.

It looked so good! Tragic that it’s gone… if it can be re-uploaded, that would be amazing.
Sorry about that. Here’s an update.

Man, pretty good work with Vader’s fortress there! Hopefully it could be taken to the next level and have the castle show some signs of decay, but I love it in its current form!
If anyone’s interested, here’s an update, including a version with no tie pilot:
The ties come into formation by the end of the castle shot. The tie pilot stays in the middle of the forest fly-over shot because this is the drop zone. Before the shot, he has not scoped out the forest yet. After the shot, there is no implied space of time before the drop happens. To me, having him state that the drop zone is clear gives us a reason for the ties to be there in the first place, as well as connecting us to seeing the eventual troop drop.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts.
For now, this is my final sequence.

This is the same scene with no pilot.

The castle shot is pretty cool, I think if you just smooth the TIE animation and blend it in a little more it would look perfect. The trooper shots are neat but it’s never really looked right to me as you can kinda see greenish bits of the jungle that aren’t present in the Kylo sequence. Idk if anything can be done about that but it’s still really nice how it is.
This is an alternate take of the ties moving into formation.

I looked through hours of footage to find a more suitable burning Forrest but it became too depressing.
I love the shot, man. That’s for doing the reformation animation for me. It works perfectly.
What program did you use for the ties? Would you be interested in working with me on other short scenes?

I use Final Cut Pro X.
Depending on my available time, I would be open to working together in the future.
Final cut allows you to add 3d tie fighters?
Awesome. I’m in no rush to finish this project so anytime is good.

That is really, really good.
For the shot of the pilot, I can tell that it’s been slowed down. If you’re editing in FCPX, can you render the clip using optical flow? It might make it not look quite so jumpy.

Man, thank you very much for the tip!
I didn’t know about optical flow. Now, even the ties coming around the castle are smoother!
