Well, even cheap storage isn’t anything for me to laugh at these days.

Also, check the bitrate of your files. Depending on what you’re using, converting to ProRes may be unnecessary. You might only need ProRes LT, or if the source is from H.264 you could likely edit with that if you’re using Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X. Avid would need ProRes or DNxHD/XR, but I doubt anyone is using that. There’s no added quality in making the files unnecessarily larger.

I just do the entire fan edit in my head a keep it there. It’s better because you can do things that aren’t possible. But it’s harder to upload to Google Drive.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Well this is coming out in December, so maaybe there’s a chance they re-release TROS with the deleted scenes then?

I mean, we DID eventually get TFA deleted scenes. We can dream, can’t we?

We still had most of the released deleted scenes on the initial BD, there were only like two extras on the 3D BD.

Some people have been talking about getting the missed opportunity for Luke, Leia, and Han to get together on screen.

I think it’s possible, we just have to be creative. We just need footage of Harrison Ford, Hamill, and Fisher in Star Wars like costumes.

Ford: Cowboys and Aliens footage can be rotoscoped in.

Hamill: TLJ deleted scenes. The “party” scene has Luke laughing with a blank background, that’s a good one. Plenty of voiceover work for Mark can be used.

Fisher: Harder to find live action, but there’s a good source of space-y dialogue as Mon Mothma in Family Guy and Robot Chicken. Might be possible to do over-the-shoulder shots. Otherwise maybe a deepfake of younger Fisher made to look older may be an option. There’s plenty of headshots in interviews, like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_zrbEkCDOU but the outfits aren’t space-y enough.

For those who were interested, I’ve worked for a while on continuing to add the final TROS trailer’s music into the movie:

https://vimeo.com/459982104

It’s still a bit rough when the music goes in and out since I can’t find a way to gradually increase or decrease it, so I have to cut the ends into numerous quarter-second chunks that quickly increase or decrease in volume, leaving the audio somewhat clippy/chunky.

However, the music placement and transitions are improved and I made custom sound effects to replace the original rocks crumbling and explosions (I had to keep the blaster fire for a second though which sounds slightly odd with a pinch of the original music peaking through… I might just cut this part out). I’ll still try to improve it any way I can but this is good enough for me to add in 😃

I feel like the trailer music would work a lot better during Rey and Palpatine’s tug of war.

“I am all the jedi!”

BOOM music

Until Palps is killed and the music goes back to the film.

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

I messed around with this idea, but found the force theme to be more fitting (especially in jonh’s incredible force ghost edit) for that scene whereas I think the trailer music is very fitting for the following scene.

It’s unfortunately BS

WGTC is not very reliable regarding rumours and the note seems rather biased against Kennedy.

Any rumour that continues the myth that Kennedy is hated and on the way out shouldn’t be taken seriously… that should always be the first, big red flag.

One big issue I had with TROS was it broke canon by having Rey hear Jedi voices who were not Force ghosts and did not preserve themselves after physical death. I have made an edit to fit canon better by only including Jedi who canonically preserved themselves past physical death. For Force ghosts, at this point in the timeline, it includes Qui-Gon, Kenobi, Yoda, Anakin, and Luke. Leia and Ben haven’t died yet so they aren’t included. I considered removing Qui-Gon but FACPOV confirms he can appear as a physical ghost by 0 BBY… and this would’ve been impossible without his lines. I’m iffy on Ahsoka since I personally believe she’s dead by this point and the other ghosts would help her become one (like they did with Anakin), but it hasn’t been confirmed so I’m not including it- I’ll go back and add her in if we ever get confirmation. I’m not thrilled with a couple of lines at the start (after hours I just couldn’t find anything better) but for the most I’m happy with how this came out.

Feel free to use it! I know I will 😃

Would you send me Qui-Gon saying, “Bring balance to the Force”? That might be nice to include at any rate.

The Lucas Cut? Apparently Disney wants in on a re-edit

This is hilarious.

Anyway, so I have an idea that’s fairly radical. You know how everyone was wondering what kinds of “secrets only the Sith knew” Palpatine used to survive and it’s never explained? Well I’ve got an explanation for you: horcruxes. That’s right, we’re turning this film into Deathly Hallows. Palpatine has stored away parts of his soul in a dagger on Pasaana, a holocron in Vader’s Castle, a holocron in his Death Star throne room, a medallion on Kijimi, and the Skywalker Saber. Only when those have been destroyed can he truly be killed. Not sure if this improves anything, but it’s a thought I had.
