Star Wars: The Old Republic: Anihilation (book)

Just finished this book.

LOVED IT.

I’ve rather enjoyed the entire “TOR” series of novels, mainly because outside the continuity of the films, I was never sure how it was going to end.  Also, each novel has been a stand alone tale, without the long drawn out decompressed serialization of the  recent EU.

On top of that, this particular book was very Jedi light. The villain was a Sithy, and there was a Jedi sidekick, but the main character was a no nonsense superspy who didn’t take orders from some desk jockey!

At first I was bothered by a large leap in the TOR timeline since the last novel, which was apparently covered in the comics or in the actual MMORPG, then I decided I didn’t care, and this was a rip-roaring adventure right up my alley.

I heard this is the end of the TOR novel series, but hope that’s not the case.

It’s kinda fun that a major backstory point is from the TOR trailer about fighting in the mountains (“Hope”) and the narrator of the audiobook even gave an impression of the narrator of that preview video.

SPOILERS

And holy cr@p! It had a happy ending! I thought Star Wars was all about perpetual bleakness and moral ambiguity. Glad I was wrong.

I'm a little hesitant to get into these novels as I'm still feeling the sting of TOR being an enormous, mishandled flop.

But a glowing review like this helps.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.
