I’ve now finished both parts and I honestly have to say that I really enjoyed them!
Of course, you can only do so much with the material at hand. But I think you made the best of it!

The idea behind this is impressive, your creativity in implementation is remarkable and your technical skills are enviable! 😄
It may not be my go-to version of the ST, but this is definitely an edit I’ll watch again sometimes!

(One question though: who is Snoke? Unfortunately I couldn’t hear the reference…)

Thanks, I’m really glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, the Snoke identity reference is kinda buried because I didn’t want it to be too over the top. I figured it would be better as an Easter Egg, but if you listen closely at 2:00:43, 2:01:08, and 2:05:12 you might pick it up.

If you still can’t make it out, ask me again.

I want to thank 21C Peasent for all the hard work on this edit. While not perfect considering the source material, I think this version of the sequels is probably best overall.

We have sequels that keep Rey as a Palpatine or keep her as a Nobody, but it is nice to make her an actual Skywalker. I myself, will be tweaking a few things for personal enjoyment, and I do not say this as an insult. We all have slightly different preferences.

I definitely felt that AI lines worked mostly well. I think a hardcore viewer would notice, but not someone watching casually. I also like how you completely removed the useless side quests pertaining to shutting down the hyperspace tracking and sith wayfinder dagger shenanigans. That was a straightforward way to eliminate useless plot points that had no effect on the outcome of either movie. I think the space battle where the resistance escaped in the pods needed a bit more background, but overall well done.

I think I could hear the chants revealing Snoke’s identity. I would have preferred it to be more clear so I will make it more clear in my own copy. Nonetheless, I think the Snoke insert into the sith throne worked mostly well. The reused dialogue fit in almost seamlessly. It did feel a bit clunky and rushed at times, but it is still much better than what we got with Palpatine. I definitely hope another skilled editor takes the mantle and expands on the strong foundation you put in place.

Another poster referenced that the fan film voices for Vader and Kylo were off. I personally felt the Kylo voice in the mask sounded very identical. The Vader one was more blatant. However, I do not believe the AI available to the public at this stage could replicate the Vader voice from ESB and ROTJ. It would need a voice actor. Either way, as a hallucination and fanedit, I do not believe we need absolute perfection.

Overall, thank you for providing a new and entertaining twist to the story. While not perfect, this is my current preferred version of the sequels that minmizes the damage from the utterly bizarre plots that we were given. Other editors like Hal, Neverar, and others also deserve credit as I could tell elements of their edits were present as you stated.

Wow I am impressed with the additions to make Rey as Jaina Solo. Also impressed with Snoke on the Throne instead of bringing back Palpatine. The dead should stay dead.

The best bit was the 2nd film, 50 mins 30 secs onwards. The original falling into the hole scenes was naff, but you not only made it better, you rescued those scenes with the vision of Leia and Han. It was beautifully done. Hope you don’t mind me using it in my fanedit.

Hey guys, thanks again for all the interest in this project! As I’ve said before, it was a fun experiment to see if I could make it work. As with most of my fan edits, I was originally just doing it for myself, but in the end, I thought it could at least be inspirational to others.

Anyway, I’ve been hearing that the Snoke identity reference is too hard to pick up. It’s kinda buried because I didn’t want it to be too over the top. I figured it would be better as an Easter Egg, but if you listen closely at 2:00:43, 2:01:08, and 2:05:12 you might pick it up.

SPOILERS AHEAD!
So stop here if you want to figure it out for yourself.

The first time, they chant, “Plagueis the Wise.” The next two times, they chant, “Plagueis.”

I have to admit, I was hoping it would have been clearer to people.

Now that you know, you’ll probably hear it every time.

I truly feel the plot you’re salvaging here (Rey is a Solo/Ben’s sister–Snoke is Plaguies) is absolutely 150% the original plot that Force Awakens was setting up, before they changed it for the next movie.

Okay, I finally finished watching the edits. You might not like what I’m about to say, but I personally think that being honest is always the best option.

I have five main criticisms:

  1. I think that the concepts behind the main story are good, very good in fact. The problem is, the alterations to the original source material are easily noticeable. I know it’s not your fault, and I know that you tried your best to save these movies, but they look too much like fan edits, so to speak. There are a lot of instances where you can tell that things were modified or cut, there are a lot of scenes that shouldn’t be in the place where you put them, etc. Again, I don’t blame you, you really tried to do your best, and I really appreciate it. But I think that, in order to make your vision come true in the best possible and realistic way, we should at least wait 10 more years, allow the technology to advance more, and allow us to create entire new scenes. It’s the only way we can save those movies.

Tbh, I think I have to agree with that, it was an amazing fanedit, but you can just tell it had issues. Like, how can you forget your father’s starship? It would’ve been cooler if the dialogue were like “We can’t outrun them!” “We might! In my father’s ship.”

  1. You kept the original motivations that Luke had for going into exile. Yes, he didn’t try to kill Ben in his sleep, but he still went into exile for 20 years and cowardly refused to help his friends because Ben turned to the Dark Side. I don’t think it fits very well with Luke’s character, because Luke is not a hopeless person. In my opinion, it would have been better if you used AI technology to create new dialogue that implies that Luke went into exile because he wanted to find the first Jedi Temple, and wanted to be alone in order to meditate and understand what he did wrong, with the hope of fixing it later. Maybe you could have kept the original dialogue where he talks about the mistakes of the Jedi, but modifying it in order to make Luke say that the Jedi shouldn’t end, but should only be reformed (which is what his Legends counterpart did). Sure, he should feel guilty for Ben’s turn, but it should not be his only reason for going into exile.

I actually disagree with this. Luke is not a hopeless person, but we gotta remember that he caused his own Padawan and nephew to turn against him, and now because of him, Ben is causing genocide and mass murder under the First Order. That’s a lot on a person.

  1. During the confrontation between Kylo and Vader, you should have replaced their voices with AI generated voices. They don’t sound nothing like Adam Driver and James Earl Jones.

Yes, but at the same time, it sounded pretty accurate for what it was.

  1. I personally think that it would have been better to use the classical Star Wars crawled for both movies. Sure, without the episodic title, but still with the crawl. Instead of showing flashbacks from other shows, I think it would have made more sense to use a crawl to explain what happened, who is Rey, etc.

I echo this. The classical title crawl just fits a lot more than the “A Star Wars Story” crawls.

  1. Lastly, this is more of a nitpick criticism, but I personally think that naming Rey “Jaina” was pretty useless. It would have made more sense if her name was Rey and only Rey.

I think the point was to bridge Legends and Canon together. So that we have Jaina from Legends in Canon material.

I hope you didn’t get offended by my criticisms, I’m only trying to be honest.

This is one of the most creative fan edits I have seen of the sequel trilogy, of course why not put Snoke on Exegol? Great idea, as for the sibling dynamic, there isn’t enough here to feed into that idea. Not your fault just a lack of source accessibility, If you could just keep Rey’s name to Rey then that would fix it!! I was surprised by how much you cut out of episode 8 and 9, but the edit works without that cut footage!

Solid edit, 7/10

Hey I watched your edits, and I just wanted to let you know they are absolutely amazing! Definitely the best version of the sequel trilogy I’ve ever seen, thank you so much! First of all, the intro to your first film is amazing, I love Mara Jade and Thrawn being included, all the opening text describes the state of the galaxy so well, it’s a great introduction for the movie and flows so much better from Return of the Jedi this way! The editing is flawless and the story alterations work perfectly and make everything feel so much better, Luke’s character is much better now, Jaina/Rey actually being a Solo and Ben’s sister is beautiful and adds so much more meaning to her interactions with Han, Leia, Luke, and Ben, and all the narrative choices in The Force Awakens (like everyone asking “who’s the girl”, Han acting like he knows Rey/Jaina, things like that) actually have a payoff now and make sense! Snoke replacing Palpatine on Exegol looks so amazing and you intergrated that beautifully with your perfect editing! Also all the dialogue added, Rey being called Jaina, Jaina calling Leia “mother”, it all sounds so natural and there was never a moment where I felt like the dialogue didn’t fit perfectly! Thank you so much for all your hard work and for making the very best version of the sequel trilogy, you are an incredibly talented editor and your films are very inspiring with masterful editing! 11/10 stars from me! ⭐️

I love your use of the deleted scenes and also the Kylo Ren vs. Darth Vader fan films, all of those scenes are integrated perfectly too and fit so well with the story! Also I love seeing Luke using his green lightsaber with the correct hilt too, and I love the mirror cave scene actually having a meaning and purpose, it’s beautiful, it’s where Rey truly discovers she’s Han and Leia’s daughter and serves as a major revelation for the story!

Also I love the Force Ghosts helping Rey destroy Snoke at the end, and Ben’s Force Ghost being with Luke and Leia in the final scene!
