If you can wait a week or two, I would if I were you. The final cut is well on its way and is a significant improvement imo 😉

Thanks to the kindness and grace of the fan editing community, Star Wars: The Last Skywalker Awakens is now… done! Much earlier than expected. The final cut is uploading now, I’ll send out PM’s to those who’ve enquired soon. May the 12th be with you.

An unexpected choice of music for the trailer - and definitely something different. Very nicely done trailer 👍

Journey to Exegol

Since releasing this I’ve made another small but significant change, namely to how we transition from TLJ into TRoS and the context of Kylo’s final prayer to Vader’s mask.

After receiving a mysterious broadcast in his darkest moment at the end of TLJ Rekindled, Kylo Ren (using footage moved from a later scene) beseeches guidance from what he believes to be his grandfather’s presence, or essence, which leads him to Mustafar in search of a hidden ancient power. This in turn leads him, inexorably, to the true phantom behind the mirror, Palpatine.

Hello again,

as always: MANY THANKS FOR YOUR AWESOME WORK!
I thought about your craft after watching the Snyder Cut of Justice League a while ago.
Loved that one too.

I just finished v3.0 I got around the 15/05/2021.
You put the star wars goof back in it I see 😄

I really enjoyed it.
Version 2.0 is still the purest Rey focused journey I would show my brother who gave up after watching Episode VII in French at the theatre.
If you do a sub’ file, I’d try to cut it and translate it into French so it fits the 2.0!
AND force him to watch it… when the variants situation settles and we can simply cross borders again.

Keep on playing with your cut. I read somewhere that an art piece is finished only when you are fed up with it.
There are at least three layers of paint on the Mona Lisa, Leonardo had fun with it all his life.
That’s why it’s so looked after.

Please don’t be fed up until you have a subtitle file 😛

Thank you thank you!

I’m glad you enjoyed it, Jul! Can’t promise subtitles will be coming any time soon, but I definitely won’t give up on this project until those are done.

A note on leaving in some of those jokes that are less popular among this community, such as Poe’s crank call and “they fly now”: the cuts made to this edit necessarily saw the removal of a lot of the original humor from the films, and because the basis for much of the rest of the edit were Hal 9000’s versions, many of the remaining jokes were gone, too. This left the resulting product quite dry and humorless, with little to break up the dramatic stakes and tension.

So, ultimately, I chose to splice some of these jokes back in for some breathing room. Others have been trimmed back even further to try and keep a sense of space between them (Chewie and the porgs, Luke and the practical joke with the grass, some of C-3PO’s japes in TRoS), but I really never had a problem with Hux being made a farce of, or “they fly now” (yes it’s corny, but that’s Star Wars, right?)

It wasn’t until I found this forum that I realized so many people HATE that “They fly now” joke. I will never understand it. lol.

Because the Empire, Republic, and CIS have all had jettroopers and it would be weird if the FO didn’t.

Well, the audience doesn’t necessarily know that as it was never depicted in the mainline Skywalker films, and certainly not the sequel trilogy. Also, none of the characters save Chewie and the droids lived through any of those wars, and C-3PO had his memory wiped after ROtS.

I do get where you’re coming from! But I think sometimes the moment has to come first, even at the expense of those of us who’ve spent their lives reading Wookiepedia.

I think the fact that it was in the first clip they released from the film didn’t help! People were kinda set to hate this thing regardless, and the joke became a bit of a pre-emptive flashpoint for that.

That’s exactly it, the joke was just the first really goofy bit of the film people saw so it devolved into vicious mockery in the comments. In all fairness it is a pretty brainless line.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
