I'm in the UK. I can cap this. Just send me a tape. In regards to "cleaning" etc I am a novice, so I think I may be better off Just sending a DVD of the raw capture to someone. Now, I use "huffyuv V2.1.1" codec so 1 hr is about 30 - 40 GB then I compress it down to XVID using Virtual dub.

My equipment includes a SVHS player with digital Time Base correction and Noise reduction

what the hell happened to this project?

Err.... I know you guys might not be interested because it's Star Trek, but I've got a very similar board game to this where a Klingon steals the Enterprise. It's an hour long VHS of some *very* bad acting by one of the reocurring guests from the show. I can't emphasise how bad the acting is, other than by just going *very* again.

If there is interest, I'd put bits up of it.

I'm hanging out to see this Star Wars one though... so COOL! James Earl Jones and the tall guy, together again!

...It's cool. The bad acting is a recurring characteristic of Star Trek, no?....

...mpfff!...Sorry for that...

Thanks for sharing that article. It's amazing that Lucas didn't take advantage of this to shoot new scenes for the special editions! Or shoot the end of Episode III.

1). Nah don't be sorry!
2). No I LOVE bad acting! You don't know how much fun it is to play that Star Trek boardgame... you're supposed to be deathly scared of the mighty Klingon Warrior but he's really funny.
I might disseminate his parts from the video, put it in a small quicktime and post it somewhere for you guys, you have to see it.

Hey can't wait to see the Darth Vader one. I wish I'd known about this board game 10 years ago!

No need to apologize . I mean you're investing time in doing this transfer and so we should be grateful .
What's the problem you're currently having?
Thanks again for trying this transfer .

Well, first time all was well and good. I'd sat down and watched the whole thing while I was recording, but in my excitement (and without fully reading the instructions) once it was finished I took out the blank and popped it into the PC. The instructions then told me I hadn't 'finalised disc', so I did it again. 2nd time round (wasn't actually watching this time, turned on atowards the end), the tracking was bad cos the scarts wern't in properly. 3rd time, tracking was still bad, almost as tho the tape had one good play in it before turning to smeg. Plus, when trying to drag it into womble, VTS 01_1 wasn't accepted.

My guess is that since my VCR is a bit old I need to get in touch with someone with a NEW vcr (already on it, hopefully soon), which will hopefully give me a better picture quality.

But in the meantime (for the sake of research,.....honest) I've been trying the DVD recorder out on a few other things, notably the Starfighter and Jedi Starfighter cutscenes.

Man O Man, so many projects and so little time (till the girlfriend gets home from work )
