My effort to get this will need to be put on hold for a while. My house was hit by Hurricane Katrina. My VHS tape may be floating in Lake Pontchartrain right now.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Too bad about your house :/.

@daveytod: Am I correct that you have gotten the game from ebay now? Would be great .

I got got back from sneaking into New Orleans. Except for some minor shingle damage, my house is untouched. I was very lucky. My tape is okay, but I didn't bring it back out with me. So it will still be a while until I can capture this.

Hi all,

Yeah, I got it. Chuffed too cos I used to own it and was gutted when I found out I actually didnt anymore.

Now, problem is I've got no way of capturing it, so looking for some help from someone in the UK. Now, no offence y'all, but obviously I'd like someone who is known and respected on these boards, to ensure I get my tape back. I'll also send the first few dvd's out myself.

FINISHED:
The Sith Revealed - A Scrapbook
Episode III The Video Game - The Movie
24: The Missing Day
Star Wars - The Interactive Board Game DVD
Battlefront - Journal of the 501st
The Clones Revealed

Sounds like an interesting project. When should it be completed, I'd love to have a copy. I had no idea such footage exists.

Well, that's good-- some good news is more than welcome to hear. And whenever you get around to it, the project does sound intriguing.

OK, I was going to anounce this as a surprise, but since this thread isn't as dead as I'd hoped...

I bought the game recently on Ebay. Cost me £11 inc postage. The thing is brand-spanking new, never been used. the board is unpunched, the figures are still on the sprue and the tape is still sealed in celophane. Hopefully I will be capping this to DVD tomorrow night.

There's no way I have the time to put together a menu and sort out all the chapters in a sensible way. I'm also not willing to release this into the wild without at least a rudimentary menu, so if anyone wants to slap a menu together and sort out chapters I'll post you a copy of the DVD you can turn it into a decent release. I'd prefer someone in the UK, but really it's just got to be someone who (a) knows what they're doing and has done it before and (b) can work with PAL to produce a PAL version of this. If someone wants to make an NTSC version later that's fine by me (although I reserve the right to point and laugh at you) but not until the PAL version is available.

Any takers?

I've not seen this in the thread, but just out of curiousity - is this tape only in PAL, or is there an NTSC tape as well?

There's an NTSC one. I had it, don't know where it is now.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Im urrently working on the cutscenes DVD, but wouldn't mind doing this after. Im using DVD Lab Pro for my menu's, and they are turning out very well. Im in the UK, gimme a PM if you are still after someone.

I am in the same boat as Beastly. I know I have it somewhere at my Mother's house. But it is in a storage room that is about the equavilant of the warehouse at the end of Raiders. I will look again tonight. If I do find it I will need someone with the ability to cap it as I don't have a very good set up. Menus and all of that jazz I am good at. Sourcing the audio and video... not so much.

Got it. Now I just need someone reliable who can cap it and get it back to me. I can do all of the menus and stuff, I just need someone to get a good capture of it for me.

Anyone US based who is willing to do this?

Thanks.

@RichKS: Great! Then the VHS should be in very good quality as well.
For I haven't done many menues before (well I once made a Clone Wars vol. 2 DVD with a menu, but it wasn't great), I don't think that I could do this ...
@NeilB: That would be great too. Looking forward to this DVD and also of course to the cutscenes dvd .

Yeah, you'd think so wouldn't you?

OK, the good news is this is captured and the encode is great. I've got it as a DVD but it's very no-frills. It's high bitrate and the 1 hour thing comes in at around 4 GB

The bad news is that the original VHS quality was really bad. it's shaky and jerky in places. There are places where it looks like a bad encode because Vader's arm is jerking as if it's dropping frames. But that's exactly what it looks like if you watch the VHS straight off.

It's possible that someone else might be able to get a better capture from this tape, but with the equipment I have it's not going to be all that great. It's watchable I guess, but not pleasant. I have transfered other stuff to DVD and it's generally pretty good, but this puppy isn't up to snuff.

Only 4 GB for one hour? What codec did you use?

Ha, I think you overestimate me my good man.

This is the "finished", encoded DVD (mpeg2 I assume)

I did this the numpty way. The encoding's not the problem, it's the source. Annoyingly, the David Dickinson (Yes, I know!) VHS I transfered straight after came out perfectly, as did the VHS is did before. This tapes just not very good quality.

Hi,

Still hoping for someone in the UK to offer to cap my video of this. The video is still sealed and never been played so the quality should be about as good as we'll ever get

Mine was sealed and had never been played, but turned out to be awful quality. Hopefully your will be better. I might be jinxed with this, best if I don't touch it...

Watched my video of this the other night and it didn't seem to be jerky. There were the tiniest of tracking errors for the first minute or so of the tape, but after that it seemed fine.

Still open to sending this to someone in the US for capping. I figure you can make a straight video of it (for the game) and then have the Vader parts selectable from a sub menu. As I said before, all I really need is someone to cap the video file. I can make the DVD.
