I am in the process of compiling details of all known DVD releases of both OT and SE versions of all the Original Trilogy films.

This would then be put onto a website for all to see.

I have two reasons for doing this.

The first is to make a quick and simple guide for all to work out what version they have and how it compares to others.
The terms TR47, Dr Gonzo, Farsight etc. do not mean anything to many people when they first visit places such as originaltrilogy.com or a.b.starwars etc.

The second reason is to try to find other versions that are currently available and bring them to the attention of others.

The information I am looking for is as follows.............

Possible identifying name of film or trilogy
Is it DVD5 or 9
Is there a menu?? (Screenshot of menu if possible.)
No of folders on disc.
No of files in folders.
No of chapters.
Details of soundtracks.
Details of any subtitles.
Details of extras.
Where is the film or trilogy available from.

I have already sourced much of what I need for this project but I still need details of the Five Star SE and the various German SE's discussed around these parts recently. Somewhere else I read about yet another Ep 4 release that also existed.

No doubt there are many more versions out there and ALL help is appreciated in detailing these versions.

I think this is a very good idea.

Here is a site that has some information about the german 1997 SE DTV version.
The page is in german, but you can use babelfish to translate it.

AFAIK there is currently no download of this version available. You can get this version from me via trade or you could ask for it in alt.binaries.starwars. I posted this version there about a year ago, so some people should have it. Some people on this board also have this version. Torrenting is out of question for me because I only have slow upload speed that I have to share with a roommate.
I might post this version in a.b.starwars again in some weeks when I have access to a faster connection.

Greetings
Grisan

Yes, this is the version Rikter referred to as the "Gkar Edition".

I vote for seeing this in alt.binaries.starwars

It will give everyone a good reason to try out the tutorial that Darth Osar is doing..............

If this is The "GKar" Edition, does anyone have any information on the other German versions out there???

Can someone tell me what the Mysterious Mysteries Edit is?

It's a DE laser rip (2.35:1 -> 4:3 letterbox), with a recreation of the original rollup, and the 1985 remix audio.

I've mentioned it in its own thread, and on the Torrents thread, but it possibly bears mentioning here too - the first version (1.0 only) of my XP77 (Experience '77) edit is up.

The nature of this edit - and I'll do a little more work with it for the next (XP77:5EB.0) version - is that it builds on a previous edit, the Mysterious Mysteries edit, by using a patched version of an audio track reflecting the 1977 1.0 mono mix.

The final version will have the subtitles remuxed in (they are missing from the 4EB.1 version) and also contain the 1977 2.0 stereo mix.

I do not have any better video sources at this time but would like to redo it as an Anamorphic version, with better picture quality.

Sorry - I don't really read all the treads BUT I will read in on all your posts!!!

I'll wait until your final version is done before I snag the torrent but the offer still stands

I suggest leaving it non-anamorphic. Converting to anamorphic will not increase the picture quality.

Exactly! Keeping it 24fps and progressive is more future proof than anamorphic.

dear administrator -- my apologies! i didn't realize offering copies of re-edits was a "no, no" -- i wasn't trying to sell them actually -- i just know the guy. anyway, my bad! thirdrow2001@yahoo.com

Lisa this is the original trilogy preservation forum. You are still allowed to discuss distribution on the other forums (though no one has done it in a while now). Or at least that is my understanding of Jay's rules, he is an excellent admin. Welcome to the forums, I hope you will enjoy your stay here.

BTW, if you don't remove your email address you run the risk of automated SPAM bots spidering it and spamming your email address, so I suggest you remove it and enable private messaging.

I hope you'll all excuse the n00b question, but after much lurking, reading and LOTS of d/l'ding, I have found myself more pleased with the visual quality of the Farsight transfer (which I know makes me a bit of an oddity).

As I recall the only true defect is the missing Leai welding scene.

Can anyone give me specifics as to WHAT that scene is, about how long, and maybe a time-frame in the movie?
I'd like to see it for myself to decide how important it is to me (I have the TR47 version as well, just don't want to sit through the whole film to find the scene not knowing what I'm looking for.)

Finally I got to say I'm so in love with what I've seen on project Zion, I cannot wait.

And also, a huge thank you to the community. I had vaguely considered doing a DVD transfer myself with my hugely inadequate knowledge, a PC with a line in and a LD player. I can't imagine the time and effort that all of you have put into these.

Oh, one more thing, are there 'official' covers/dvd labels that match the Farsight set?

[Edit]
Nevermind, just found them on disc 4.

I see 3 files in .DVD format. Assumingly the disc labels.
Anyone know what program can read that?

I thought the version of the "Mysteries" edit (weird title for it) already had the mono mix on it?

I've got two different versions of that same disc, and one has the mono mix on it. I believe I mentioned it in one of the discussions.

Is this not the version being distributed?
