Star Wars: The Concert!

A capture of the PBS Making Of Doc. is on usenet.  They captured just the doc itself, the program runs a little short of a half hour, so there is a few moments for the talking heads to do some additional gabbing, which for people like me is interesting.  I've got a cap of the NYC Long Island (WLIW) broadcast, but would love to see what people said elsewhere across the country.

I didn't realize different areas had different interviews. That's pretty cool, though like you say, people won't see all of them. :p Any idea how many there are total? I bet when it's all done, they'll make some sort of box set, but they always charge HUGE prices for stuff at PBS.

It was actually on one of the PBSs a couple of weeks ago, then last night, both an hour long. (actually, it went around an hour and three minutes, and I almost didn't catch that)

Are you sure they didn't air the special twice in a row?  I think most of the program is available on the official SW Concert website.  But haven't confirmed it yet.  The part after the special (to fill out the 30 minutes) was just the local PBS folks talking about their pledge drive and the SW Concert program.  Unscripted people talking about SW is some of my favorite type of programming.  People say some stupid, scary, and sometimes insightful stuff.

Ok, I just watched and they did play the same Making Of special two times in a row. Oh well. I enjoyed it. (once)

I didn't know that the CG TPM Yoda was premiering during the U.S. leg of the concert. Pretty neat-o. Also, though the concert is sold out at the Air Canada Centre, if I pledge $120 to PBS Buffalo, they'll send me one ticket. Haha.

Does anyone know what pieces they're performing?  I'd love to go (it comes to my hometown December 9!) but I can't justify the expense.

I went to the Concert in Indianapolis Saturday night (one of the last US shows), and I have to say that it was incredible.  I didn't get to see the memorabilia, but the show itself was great.

My full review is here.

Relating to groups on the board specifically:

FOR PURISTS: The intro video started with the Original Trilogy and threw the Prequels in afterward, as it should be.  Same with the credits.

FOR PT LOVERS: The main show itself was PT-OT, and most of the OT videos had PT clips thrown either as flashback ("your father's light saber" faded into a shot of Anakin using a green lightsaber in Ep3, inexplicably) or somehow bringing the Battle of the Naboo Plains into the video for the Forest Battle, making a video with both Ewoks and Jar Jar!

FOR FAN EDITORS: There were a couple new shots of CGI TPM Yoda.  The head seemed a little big, but anything is better than the lazy-eyed, dying raisin puppet they made.

FOR ADYWAN: My wife turned to me after a video showed Vader's Torture Droid and remarked that it must have been a clip from the original version (not the SE), since there was no electricity on the needle. :-D

I forgot something else about the OT videos.  Not only did the Mos Eisley Cantina video have random shots from the pub in Episode II, it ended with the infamous Greedo-shooting-while-Han-shoots-twice!

The colors were still messed up, for those hoping for them to be previews of a newly remastered Blu-ray.  ANH was dark, ESB was blue, RotJ still had green matte boxes, etc.  Heck, one video ended with the shot of Vader and Luke's sabers crossed in front of the Emperor, but it was definitely the 2004, what with Vader's being pink and Luke's not going all the way across.
