This is really cool and it's nice quality, any chance for a downloadable less compressed download? I'd also really like to see the original 97SE featurettes presented before the films on VHS (and I'm hoping LD) in similar quality. Anyone got those?

I'm also going to post the VHS versions too.

OCP captured it and released it on one of his DVDs, I think on Special Edition Hype

Any news on the VHS featurettes?

Aren't the VHS featurettes just the SE doco broken up in to 3 pieces?  I know the Japan SE LD's did this and I have them capped separately.

I don't really know, the VHS ones always ended with "now sit back and enjoy George Lucas' original vision of..." or something like that. Could you upload the three separate ones? A LD cap would be infinitely better than VHS.

Yeah the vhs tapes are the same thing as the laser...except for that (when they say "sit down and watch the DEFINITIVE version as it always meant to be etc."). Which is totally the best part now!

Is just the sound different? If so, one could use the LD footage with the VHS sound.

I'll check my Japan LD caps (with the burned in subs of course) of this and see if it has the same "voice" outro....I know they are in AVI so I'll have to find the best way to compress them to mpeg2 for upload.

I'll get back tonight after I check.............

I just checked because I had some time....the Japan SE featurette pieces have the same "voice" outro as the VHS ones do.....

Awesome. It's a pity about the burnt in subs but it beats VHS quality.

All 3 files equal about 10GB's...if you can suggest the best way to convert them with the best quality possible, I'll do it and upload to Demonoid so people can have them....let me know.  I also have all 3 separate trailers for the SE as well if they're wanted though I know they are found elsewhere on other fan sets.....

If you don't want to go into any AviSynth scripts and stuff, I would suggest makng an mp4 or mkv with a program called ripbot, it is easy to use, has many options and encodes very well with nice quality.

I had some issue with 7z and the Ripbot download.  Here is a link for people who might get this issue.

I will give the conversion a shot and see what I come up with.  Any specific requests for the a/v quality for these?

Well, it sure would be nice to get some higher quality transfers. Especially for Jedi. I think someone said that those featurettes were the same on the Japanese 97LD as the US and European VHS. It would be cool to get transfers of those. Though they'd probably have burned in Japanese subs, which would of course suck.

I've got all the special features transferred from my NTSC 1997 SE set, if it's of use Harmy? Very good quality (used a Pioneer CLD-2950 LD player and a Panasonic stand-alone DVD recorder).

Cheers!

Well, aren't those the same that Kamdan posted? Or if they are, are they higher quality?
