I had never seen that before. Very sweet.

Kind of neat, too bad they didn't follow the story line though.

I've often wondered how the first Star Wars film would have worked as a silent- quite well, I imagine. Using title cards for the dialog (which would have to be trimmed down a bit, I guess) and the original soundtrack music, I think it would be just as entertaining as the original.

I'd really like to see ANH as a silent movie, after trimming the dialog, cutting unnecessary scenes, and speeding it up for that nostalgic look, I figure you could make it a maximum 30 minute story. That's a good idea there.

A silent version with title cards would be great.

Now, if you found somebody to do a ragtime piano interpretation of the John Williams music to accompany the film, that would be sheer perfection.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

hey Guys,

The Isomix Version that was released, I considered it as a silent treatment. You choose the option of musical score and you select the subtitle and you have yourself a silent movie. So the silent treatmentof the Original Trilogy, in my book, has been issued. All well, to each is own.

That would be hilarious! At least it would be for a few minutes. It'd make a great trailer.

Freaking hilarious. It seemed like a real silent film. Loved it. It would be really cool to see someone do a fan edit of the original film in a silent version, like Erik outlined below:

Has anyone ever found the theme in ragtime piano on the internet? I'm sure its probably on there. Doing the first five minutes of the movie would be really funny if someone had that sound clip.

The easiest way would be to edit it down and then have someone play the ragtime piano to the finished edit. Shouldn't be too hard for some of our editors here to do the edit part, but finding a good pianist to do the theme will prove a little hard.

The 'ragtime' piano version of the entire score is a funny idea, but it might get old after a few minutes. Personally, if I was going to sit through a silent version of the entire film, I'd rather hear the original London Symphony recording (and besides, many silent films did have fully-orchestrated scores).
