 Reboot it again!

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

See that barely-filled hole between ESB and ROTJ?

There's hope for Xizor yet!

if that's a thing anyone wants, I guess...

What I want is to see the PT and the lame/uninspired/shitty aspects of Filoni's shows rendered officially non-canon.

Oh, and any depiction of Luke engaging Vader in a lightsaber duel prior to the events of TESB.

I just interpret that (all of the Star Wars canon, actually, when I care enough about it) as being a retelling of the "actual" events. Thus, the prequels tell the real story of Anakin Skywalker's rise and fall, but they're just an adaption and are no more accurate than, say, Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. The original trilogy is closer to what "really" happened, however.

^I could live with that. I just wish the people at Lucasfilm would follow suit.

Couldn't help but laugh. This is probably the first time anyone has ever mentioned "the prequels" and "Shakespeare" in the same sentence. However, I see the point you're making.

There is no try.

My two cents.

I highly doubt there will be no mention of the Force or jedis. I actually assume that there could be plenty of screen time to see the Force at work. But even if there isn't, the SW universe is so full of familiar designs, mythology, lineages, terms, and geography that we'll feel right at home.

What I am curious about is Leia's involvement. This is based on the opening conversation between Vader and her. For a reminder:

                                     LEIA
Lord Vader, I should have known.
Only you could be so bold. The
Imperial Senate will not sit for
this, when they hear you've attacked
                         a diplomatic...

                                     VADER
Don't play games with me, Your
Highness. You weren't on any mercy
                         mission this time. Several
                         transmissions were beamed to this
ship by Rebel spies. I want to know
what happened to the plans they sent
                         you.

                                     LEIA
                         I don't know what you're talking
about. I'm a member of the Imperial
Senate on a diplomatic mission to
                         Alderaan...

                                     VADER
You're a part of the Rebel Alliance...
and a traitor. Take her away!

Also, when C3-P0 says, "there's no escape for the princess this time", it makes think that there were times prior to the capture of the Tantive IV that the two had met.

Was this territory covered in the EU at all? Has someone written about Vader's and Leia's relationship prior to ANH? It sure seems like they are well acquainted with each other and that she is well acquainted with the rebels. If vader is to be in it, she should be too, especially since she is involved in the rebellion. I doubt the film would end with someone in one ship sending the plans to people in a ship, neither of which we had seen on screen.

I'm wracking my brain, but I can't recall any pre-ANH stories that really delve into the history between Leia and Vader. They were acquainted at that point in time, yes, but as for specifics ... *shrug*

Leia and Vader have a short encounter on some small planet in the Radio Drama where she's on a mercy mission to an Imperial-controlled planet that she narrowly escapes.

It's being reported that at least some of Rogue One will shoot on Arri's new 6k, 65mm-sized model of Alexa camera. But that's not all! These 65mm shots will use the 1.25x anamorphic Ultra Panavision lens recently revived by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Richardson for The Hateful Eight, which they shot on actual 65mm film.

Ultra Panavision (2.20:1 65mm film with a 1.25x squeeze) yields an extremely wide aspect ratio of 2.76:1. There were only a literal handful of films made in this format before it was abandoned, Ben-Hur probably being the most well-known example. Several years back I actually got to see an anamorphic 70mm print of the last Ultra Panavision film, Khartoum, which was released in 1966 and also happens to star Charlton Heston.

Gareth Edwards and his cinematographer Greig Fraser are clearly fans of the more old-fashioned formats, as they shot last year's Godzilla movie in panavision/cinemascope with 2x anamorphics using the alexa 4:3.

I wonder how much of Rogue One will shoot in this digital "equivalent" of Ultra Panavision and if the movie will shift to the ultra wide AR at certain points. Maybe they'll crop those shots to 2.40:1 while still taking advantage of the added resolution and detail?

Those must have been some very large hands... or very short films.

Meh. Aside from his stupid name and those airtubes which don't seem to serve any purpose, I have nothing against Cad Bane, so I could personally live with him being in Rogue One. I'm more concerned about Vader's presence (I mean really -- does Vader need to be in everything?).

Well this is set just before the start of Star Wars and we see Vader fresh on Leia's heels chasing after the plans, so I'd say it'd be more appropriate to see him in this context than most others.

I'm sure Disney is dying for a chance to use him in one of these films. I wouldn't be opposed to a cameo, just as I wouldn't be opposed to Leia receiving the plans in the film (though this would be better done offscreen or implied). I'd hope it would be better handled than the ending of Sith, though. ("Look you guys. Full circle! FULL CIRCLE.")

What else could you possibly need?  "Cad Bane"?  Are you serious?   That can't really be a character name.

Do they have a "Jerk Awful" yet?

How about a "Meany Monsterman"?

The difference being that those airtubes are connected to an airtight spacesuit instead of to...the side of his face? Does he have little auxiliary mouths on either side of his main mouth for air? Is he an aquatic creature with gills? It could work I guess, it just seems kind of awkward.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

But Duracell was asking what the purpose of the tubes is, not how Cad inserted them into his face.
