During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

I have a feeling that Jyn’s father intentionally put the exhaust port on the Death Star. After all, he seemed reluctant to make the plans in the first place, and he has a direct link to the rebels.

its a fun theory, but no. it took the rebels some analyzing of the plans to find the weakness, it wasn’t handed to them. also, every fan theory is wrong, so there’s that too :p (it is a neat idea though)
