The Divergent Series: Rogue one

(People get what they deserve: shitty SW movies for young adults wrapped with nostalgia. This is getting worse every year. Ep VII looks like a masterpiece now in comparaison)

People who preemptively decide they want to dislike something/everything get what they deserve: nothing enjoyable.

Those people are usually dead on the inside so that’s a bonus I guess.

Good movies are hard to get these days.

But we already know how you feel about the idea of female leads, so your comments here are hardly surprising.

“Bad” female leads (like Rey and probably this Rogue One). Have you seen Tomorrowland ? Brillant movie, great female lead. You should try to watch good movies.

I wonder if the rumors about them filming with the Ultra Panavision lenses were true. This teaser is in 2.39:1, not the 2.76:1 Hateful Eight was. Will there be two different theatrical releases, one wide, one super-wide?

Screenrant has your HD screengrabs needs.

I’m betting that the Ultra Panavision shots were simply cropped down to a traditional AR. I also think I remember hearing that not all of the movie was to be shot with those lenses. I can definitely see some similar lens distortions to shots from the Hateful Eight. The easiest to spot in similarity between the two films is a certain off-color fringe in close-ups (for lack of a better term).

Other than the OT I’m not exactly sure I’d even consider watching a movie you’d consider “good”. Considering of course that a so called Brilliant movie has gotten considerably worse reviews than a film you consider mediocre.

Have you seen this movie ? Do you know what I’m talking about ? Do you know Brad Bird cinema ? I really don’t care about institutionalized reviews. I remember AOTC declared the best SW ever by many reviews in 2002, so, imdb, really ?

Anyway, like I said: you get what you deserve. I want more, you want less. You’re the lucky ones to enjoy so much inconsistant movies. I would love to have the ability to lower my taste but I can’t. Sorry.

Tomorrowland was an absolute snooze-fest. I’ll stick with these, thanks.

It’s not just imdb, it’s also Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic and both critics and the public gave these scores so the consensus among them is that it’s far from brilliant. Even if the film is good, saying it’s brilliant would seem to be hyperbolic. Which doesn’t surprise me in the least.

I’ll will be very surprised if this isn’t my favorite Star Wars film of all. Much to discuss as the trailer screen-grab breakdown unfolds.

It could be my favorite from an action standpoint seeing as how it’s going to be pretty much a War movie but as it pertains to the plot and characters, that remains to be seen.

You use the term “good” as though it is quantifiable. Cool if you don’t like the teaser ─ I wasn’t particularly jazzed about TFA’s trailer while everyone else seemed to really like it; to each his own. However, I fail to see the point behind your continued posts in which you express your dislike for the teaser. What’s your goal: to convince others who do like it that they’re wrong to like it? To let everyone know you don’t like it? If the former, it’s a pointless exercise, so why bother? If the latter, mission accomplished, so no need to keep belabouring the point.

Personally, I’m quite pleased at what I’m seeing ─ Rogue One is hitting all the right notes for me.

Dude, it wasn’t adressed to you. The man it was adressed to has somehow tried to imply things I don’t like against me. If you like RO trailer good for you. Some people get very aggressive when their beloved franchise does not convince everyone else. “bouh hou hou this man is dead inside he doesn’t like TFA and RO, BURN THE WITCH !”.

Jeeze Strana, it’s not like Star Wars is ruined. It’s being celebrated! I mean, what do you think’s gonna happen if you open yourself up a little bit? I mean, look around. This is your piers and friends all around you on this website, you know? Take the day off. There’s nothing to run from, nothing to fight.

Me gusta!

What’ll be nice about these “Star Wars Stories” is that they wont be too tied down with tradition. I think future filmmakers should be allowed to put their own mark on these films not unlike the Harry Potter or Alien series.

Has there been any information leaked on Diego Luna’s character? I liked the notion that he might be playing Biggs Darklighter; I’m not one for universe shrinking, but I think this would be a fitting way to see more of the character who, based on the deleted ANH footage and the radio drama, seemed pretty cool.

I’ve just seen the trailer. So… another female hero? Why? We have a young chick as the lead character in the new trilogy. But the trailer seems … OK.

I hate that they simply use the nostalgic factor instead of doing something new. Hey look - the Death Star. AGAIN. Oh look - Star destroyers. I remember those from my childhood. Oh look - the boring woman from Episode 6 - I sort of remember her. I remember all those things, so I guess I have a reason to go see the movie it and buy some toys, sorry, I meant “action figures”, right?

It’s not a universe shrinking idea to see someone we know to have been at a location at that location albeit a bit earlier than the time frame of the deleted scenes. I’m all for it.
I call it universe examining.

you know what made me geek out more than anything? They had the “X” shaped antenna on top of the star destroyer bridge standing upright like it did in the original film - it was laid flat in the subsequent movies. But the fact they’re paying attention to those kind of tiny details is AWESOME.

But yes, looks pretty great. The one thing that has me a little… worried (for lack of a better word) is the martial arts. That kinda feels out of place in a film set right before the original. Will certainly wait and see how it integrates in the full film, but it was the one thing that kinda stood out in a not-so-good way in the trailer. Everything else looks friggin fantastic!!

It’s a teaser trailer, this is exactly what it’s meant to do.

Fingers crossed. 😉 I’m still hoping Diego Luna is Biggs. It would certainly make sense that he’s at the Yavin temple a few weeks before Luke and Han show up.

She seems to know how to handle herself. I don’t know if you were privy to this information but strong and competent woman are known to be in Star Wars. Leia, Rey, Darth Zannah, Darth Cogness, Asajj Ventress, Lumiya etc.

Just in case you didn’t know.

Well…if this is set right before STAR WARS why wouldn’t they have the classic imagery?
