Thank god he has a personality!!! After Rebels, I had pretty low expectations. This show looks less bland.
Also, Filoni won’t be showrunner for this show, as he’s busy with TCW. He’ll be giving advice, though.

‘Take to the skies with #StarWarsResistance. Premieres Sunday, October 7 at 10pm ET/PT on @DisneyChannel.’
Looks like fun.
I am getting major Titan A.E. vibes, which isn’t good or bad.
Can’t say I’m crazy about the cel colored CGI style.
And hey, Disney technically owns Titan A.E. now. Can we get a sequel? 😉
Where were you in '77?
well …it’s gotta be better than the Droids and Ewoks cartoons from the 80s
Ouch! I liked them. Disney really ought to release a nice boxset with the uncut episodes in their original broadcast format.

Looks alright so far. I personally don’t mind the 3D cel-shaded thing, I prefer it to the straight CGI animation of TCW and Rebels.
I’m hoping this is all from the first episode, though. If not, this show is going to get very bland, very quickly - I want to see some variation in locations and visuals rather than everything being bright, pastel, and on a water planet…
It’s one type of animation pretending to look like another type of animation. Why not just hand draw the darn thing? Guess I’ve seen it used on one too many cheap looking shows.

i agree. one of Rebels’ main flaws was how much Lothal there was.

'Cause that would make too much sense.

Almost definitely a budget thing. I did like Rebels more focused scope though. The bigger issue was that most of the other planets they visited were often quite boring. Again, though, budgets.

From what I’ve seen of the universe most planets are boring.

Even though it is a bigger issue it is still a very minor one.
Looks like an average animated TV show for 5 year olds. I’ll pass.

Maybe I will give it another watch , I just remember being a little disappointed when they came out , they had a lot of childish antics like r2 break dancing and such , though I did like the backgrounds that had a Moebius/Heavy Metal like quality to them .and they did have a big influence on the Prequels . guess that is down to Ben Burrt writing some of it .
I liked that Droids mostly stayed out of the Empire/Rebellion stuff and showed us things like other crime families besides the Hutts. Serialized storylines were rare on Saturday Morning tv at the time. Aside from Boba Fett, no other OT characters ever appeared on the series, IIRC. The Max Rebo band did have a cameo though.

i mean it from a setting point of view. it was almost always the same, and it was quite boring to me.

Is it just me, or does the way he’s holding that staff make no sense?

I stand corrected!

And it’s not impossible to merge 2D and 3D animation, like hand-drawing characters and CG-ing ships. It’s not ideal, but some shows like Netflix’s Voltron reboot have done a great job with it imo.

Lazy animators, were Lazy.

Voltron is such a good show. Much better than Rebels anyway.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)

Oh, I agree! That looks pretty good! I found it ironic that Titan A.E. caught some flak for doing the same when anime has been blending the two since Lensman in 1984.

O, that reminds me.
