Left to do I must:

Rework the "dark twist" to the music during the remote training sequence

Re-work the music transition from Obi-Wan's duel to the slow-mo sequence

Re-Working the Millenium Falcon's lift-off

Add in a quick scene of PM after Obi-Wan's death

Very fast flashes come to Vader's mind once he says "a presence I've not felt since..."

Check all of the transitions

Recent Work:

Cut out the prologue

Replace the opening A-Man Logo

Rework Vader's Entrance Theme - Imperial March to fit better

New music for R2's canyon exploration

Fading in and out to and from sepia tones for AOTC scenes to avoid confusion began completed

Music in Ben's hut will be turned down

Removed the droid factory sequence (including the droid-head business during the battle)

Fix the credit mistakes

Adjusted volume in the Dooku/Obi-Wan/Anakin fight

I think Photoshopping existing pictures of the actors using different filters would be the best way to go and would make everything uniform. Although I'm all for real hand drawn and scanned art, it could delay things like crazy!

All I can say now is that the final render will come in the next week or so BUT then I still need to get to work on the DVD menu and I have never worked with DVD Architect so I'll have to learn how it works first. If you guys have your copies of Renascent could you possibly check some visual transitions and tell me if any of them looked too fast or too slow to you? Thanks!

DVD architect is probably the most user friendly software for that. You shouldn't have much of a problem there.

Well the edit's done. I'm just waiting on ady to see what his MPEG preferences were so that I can render it.

 (Edited)

How different is the opening text?  Because the original clip on Youtube had some grammar issues, if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Not Youtube, that first 2:30 on Megaupload in the main post.  How much has that been changed?  Because it wasn't much for an introduction to the whole saga.

EDIT 2:

Here is how I would change it (grammar/ease-of-understanding wise, not introduction-to-whole-galaxy wise):

Turmoil engulfed the Galactic Senate when several solar systems declared their intentions to leave the Galactic Republic itself, through a Separatist movement led by the mysterious, former Jedi warrior, Count Dooku.

Meanwhile, young Senator Padme Amidala, of the planet Naboo, returned to the Senate to vote on the critical issue of creating a Grand Army for the Republic, to assist the overwhelmed Jedi peace-keepers.

Twenty-two years later...

Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia raced home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate space station of a weapon with enough power to destroy an entire planet.  These plans were the galaxy's only hope to insure safety and peace once again....

Maybe those are too long, but they're clearer and the tense is kept the same.

It's been fixed grammatically and also based on length and clarity. The completed text is somewhere is this thread. I can post it for you once I get to my desktop.

Turmoil had engulfed the Galactic Senate with several star systems having declared their intentions to leave the Republic through a Separatist movement led by the mysterious Count Dooku.

The Jedi Knights, guardians of peace and justice in the Galaxy, were
becoming overwhelmed. The Senate proposed creating a Grand Army of the Republic to assist them. Senator Amidala was returning to the Senate to vote on this critical issue.

22 Years Later

Rebel Starships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire and its ultimate weapon, the Death Star, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her Starship, custodian to the stolen plans for the Death Star that can help ensure the safety of the Galaxy.

I don't know if you guys know this, but if I'm working at 23.976fps, should I convert that to 29fps using the DVD Architect MPEG-II template to just avoid pull-down all together for the final render?

I don't know how goog the pull down is in DVD Architect, but I wouldn't want to convert to 29.97fps - that would be just nasty.

If you can MPEG out at 23.976fps, there is a free tool you can download called DGPulldown, which will had the repeat field required for pulldown.

See, that's better, but if you want to treat this edit like a whole new version of Star Wars, something anyone could pick up and watch (instead of just Star Wars fans like us), you need a MUCH broader introduction than that.  You throw names and terms at the audience right away that they have no way of understanding, and although I understand that you're trying to introduce the whole flashback concept immediately with that "22 Years Later" thing, a general audience would just be confused as heck, wondering where an Empire and some kind of Rebellion came from (even if you do show these facts later on).

My two cents, at least.

I haven't watched it in a while, but I believe that he's just adding all the text there at once, but if you watch it, there are video clips before the "22 Years Later" part. That may have been from the now dropped prologue, though, so...I'm not sure. ;)

"You throw names and terms at the audience right away that they have no way of understanding"

*cough*The Phantom Menace*cough* :p That's exactly how I felt sitting in the theater. I sure wasn't there to see some confusing political thing, but that's what I got!

Even some clips before "22 Years Later" can't possibly set up everything.

And just because the Phantom Menace was like that doesn't mean this Renascent project should be.  In fact, isn't one of the purposes of this revisioning to help the prequels a bit?

I'm sorry to have all this critique so close to the project being done, just trying to help.
