I'm in the process of using Ady's suggestion.... By the way; Is your Empire Vintage edit available for download yet?

I edit on Adobe Premiere; have for many moons; but now want to chunk everything Adobe (except after effects)
Why you ask? Because I am now on my THIRD RENDER, because I keep getting an "Error compiling movie" message. I have PLENTY of drive space... I even bought a 500 GB yesterday.... I've rendered to HUFFYuv and Lagarith with the same result.. Now I'm going for a full res, just straight uncompressed AVI, and then I'll re-render in AE... Granted I don't get another error message... If it happens again; I have no clue what to do...
If anyone else knows what I can do; I might not have to start over....Ugh.
Yeah Premiere's getting on my nerves too. Try what Adywan said about exporting in pieces, but if you don't have Vegas, avisynth has a splice together function you can use to bring them all together into one .avs file, and bring that into megui. That'd probably be the most straightforward.

Vegas can do it without re-rendering? is it like a muxer ady?

yeh. if you make sure the project settings are the same settings as your video and in the video clip properties you disable "maintain aspect ratio" and that the field settings are exactly the same as the video then all it does is mux the clips together using its smart renderer. thats why i always use vegas. It will only render the clips i want it to render so never lose quality
What Adywan suggested is working out so far. I'm trying to render in 1 hour increments, and then I will splice them together in Vegas. I'll let you guys know something tomorrow hopefully!
Ok, I'm ready to pack in ADOBE PREMIERE.... I've spent A LOT of time on premiere.... Vegas is so different. Does anyone know of any really good tutorials online?
here is a pdf I put together a while back. I grabbed a buch of short tutorials for the web and put them in here. It should help you get a start

Thanks man... I'll take a look at it.
I have a new question... When I get to the point where I render to mpeg2, how do I know where to set the bitrates? The film will be about 3 hours long; so I already know I'm pushing it. But how can I get it all on a disc, while maintaining quality?
I always frameserve out to CCE to do the encoding which is a top rate encoder. Vegas' rendering isnt bad though. To figure out the bitrate, use a bitrate calculator to enter your movie duration and audio settings. It will tell you the bitrate you need to fit it on a disc. 3 hours seems like a good bit. You may want to release this as a dual layer DVD. Also, keep in mind, if you have motion menus, or any bonus features, that you will need to lower your bitrate some to accomodate these.
hey
not to change the subject, but I was just wondering if anyone ever thought using some Liam Nesson dialog from other movies to make the yoda/Qui-gon conversation. Perhaps It could be a nice feature for your project.... you could take the dialog from (I am probably going to get slaughtered saying this) batman begins, and rework it a bit, and make it sound like qui-gon at one point is trying to warn anakin, by saying something like :"your anger will destroy you", or something like that. I always thought that when anakin is getting seduced by the dark side of the force, that the dark side was talking to him... it could be interesting to hear James Earl Jonas telling him: "it is the only way to save padme", by using lines from ROTJ and ROTS... again i have to state that this merely suggestions and wishfull thinking from my side.
Oh yeah. I've thought of it, and it's been thought of before. I believe there is an Ep. 3 edit out there that has Yoda arriving on Dagobah and you hear Qui-Gon speaking to him. Can't recall where the audio was cut from.
I have not decided if I'll be doing something like that, though.
Thanks for the advice Kongerne... And yes, it will be a DL release.
Thanks again everyone... I'm rendering without any hiccups now. Very nice feeling... I'm still getting used to Vegas.... Ugh, if only Premiere was as reliable.....
I think once you get used to Vegas, you will really enjoy it. Its all I use to edit. I love it.
It's growing on me, but it's amazing how much of a difference there is between the two editors... Makes for quite the learning curve.
"[The technobable!] The goggles...they do nothing!"
Anyway, another great project I'm going to keep my eye on. And thanks for alerting me to Prologue's presense.
You are more than welcome. Prologue should be pretty interesting.
I should know pretty soon today whether or not I have a DVD to watch tonight. (Fingers crossed.)
Oh and the goggles may not do anything; but they sure make you look cool....

How much of your edit would be on said DVD? I'm guessing this is just an early test disc you're doing.
Well, it's a test disc, but could be the final as well, if I don't see any corrections that need to be done.
And remember: No slapping wolverines.

Wow, maybe I'm just not realizing all you've done already. Seems...fast? :p What parts of the saga would be on the disc?
All of Ep. 4.....portions of 3, and portions of 2
I had a plan from the get go.... When I have a plan, I work a lot faster.
how long before any footage? :)

You know what? That makes sense.
