I’ve been playing around with the introduction sequence some more… considering I’m already needing to revamp the old episodes I thought now was a better time then any to modify it and get it just right! The first major change is the introduction music. Although I did like the old one, it didn’t fit in with the sound profile Rebels has. To create a similar mood and keep the music cohesive I’ve opted to use the White Loth Wolfes theme and I think it works quite well. Please let me know what you think!

• Added extra scale up to remove a static feeling from the logo

I’ve managed to pull a few scenes from other episodes to cover this transition. It’s not perfect but it’s much better than it was before! I’ve used a shot of the ghost in space, Hera saying they’ve got coordinates, reversed a shot to get one of the phantom leaving the ghost, and then we cut to the phantom being chased by TIE fighters

Other than that, I really like what I have seen so far. The new intro is way better than the old one, not to say the old one was bad.

I agree, the other wasn’t bad but after a few touch ups to the logo coming on screen and choosing some music that is stylistically more appropriate to the show it’s a definite improvement!

On a side note,

I should be releasing that Familial Bonding change and hopefully another visual improvement to the show soon!

I’m trying to triple the FPS of rebels to take it from about 24ish to 70ish FPS using AI Frame Interpolation. From what I’ve experimented with, the non interpolated footage looks like it’s lagging so I think that’s a good sign hahaha.

Personally, I dont need a higher FPS, cause of the soap opera effect.

That’s something I did consider for a while but recently I thought, if I’m putting the work in to remaster and enhance the footage I might as well increase the FPS for those who couldn’t otherwise and would like it. I wont replace any previous version but add a 4K Recolor 70FPS download option.

As long as it is just an option and not mandatory.

Idea after watching EddieDeans Clone Wars Refocused halfway through: He found a nice way in s03ep00 to include some forces of destiny stuff relating to Ahsoka. Maybe there is a way to construct a similar interlude for the Rebels related FoD stuff? More of a Gimmick, but it was kinda enjoyable in this format.

I’ll have to watch Forces of Destiny (as I haven’t). It’s a fun idea! I might revisit it once I’ve got the core series polished and released 😃

The Ahsoka and Ezra episode was nice. Feels like a very Anakin lesson for Ezra. I would think this slots into Rebels somewhere between end of season 1 and end of season 2. The planet feels like it’s ment to be Lothal but Ahsoka was never there with Ezra and it’s never explicitly said, so I see no reason why it couldn’t be a different one.

The Sabine and Hera clip would take place somewhere in season 2. Based on her hair colour. I might be able to incorporate this episode and the last together in season 2 somewhere… It’s a good lesson for her character around this time AND sets up Chopper being capable which leads nicely into him finding Chopper base in season 2.

The final episode with Sabine and her brother I thought was very interesting but unfortunately I think gets completely undercut by Mando and the Ahsoka show. Given that their efforts are completely for nothing. It could be worth incorporating into a season 3-4 intermission though.

I’ll keep considering options for these! Happy to hear any suggestions from anyone in regard to this content!

New Intro and Credits are very nice, “artwork” looks way better.

In the intro there seems to be a comma misssing after “clash” and I think on the 2nd page of text there are 2 different fonts used. Maybe the pace of new sentences appearing could be tuned down just a little as well, i feel like it is a bit fast.

The transition between stories is better now, i still think title cards would be better. 😃 See CWRefocused s02e07.

I definitely think functionally your suggestion is better however stylistically I think my approach is more effective.

If I had the opportunity to use extra title cards in other episodes I think it would definitely work the best. However, in terms of flow and expectations it’s a bit odd to have the second episode of a series setup a style of episode and never use it again.

Although, I’ll keep this suggestion in mind!

If you want to keep a non-title-card transition, maybe keeping just the shot of the ghost in Orbit with a wipe in and wipe out could be even better.

If the shot is not directly tied into one of the stories, it will act like a little insert/seperator to imply passage of time, that visually marks the chapter change for the audience.

Have been thinking about these and wanted to just throw an idea your way: The Ahsoka training Ezra scene could be a cold opening for s02ep01. This would give you the opportunity to cut off the kiddy dialogue in the end and go to black/introduction sequence instead. And the intro would be a nice seperator for different art styles.

S02e11 - A New Base
Honestly, the first half could just… go? It’s pure filler (yeah, the droid is with them later, but so what, it’s just a droid, these things come by like sand in the desert), bland, quite childish and it also ruins the pacing of the season finale. Then again, maybe I’m a little biased, cause I’m really not a fan of droid centered stories in SW at all.

I’ve thought this as well (hence the heavy cuts). I’ve got less of a problem with a character appearing and more of a problem with the locating of Chopper base… I’ll see what more I think I can cut when I next come around to it 😃
