I plan to reupload everything as soon as I can. Ive been so busy with my 3 jobs and I just am now getting over this weird illness... I wanted to reodo some of the edits but I may reupload them as is and then go back latter... since there's such a demand.

I suppose if someone has it and wants to torrent it, I GUESS that's ok... the reason I was against that was I dind't want people who... didn't go through me, to get it.

You don't know how many times I've found some of my edits on ebay... and I would much rather people have access to them for free, than pay for them... so that's why I try to keep a tight grip on where the edits are uploaded..

Hope your weird illness wasn't too weird and you're back to normal. ;) Your absense was noticed in Adywan's threads as well.

When you said you wanted to redo some of the edits, does that include ESB and ROTJ? (even if so, I'd still love to get them as-is for now)

Now, as for a possible torrent, where to put it...? Hmm... I think some secrecy would be in order, no matter what. Whoever does it should have people PM them for the location, perhaps. Rapidshare would be good, too, especially as it could be easier for getting individual soundtracks.

Sorry to hear about eBay. That's the kind of thing that would make me throw my monitor across the room.

Ok JediMasterFisher, I misunderstood.

About EBAY, I think the root of the matter comes from the difficulty to reach the bootlegs on the internet. I think about the episodes 2 & 3 for exemple, as the GoodMusicians edits were the last, the very last ones I found on the web, after have (hardly) founded three, four or five versions of all of these bootlegs.

Indeed I found them at the last minute, while I was finishing the remastering and the selection (each bootleg provided something that was missing on the others, as for non-SFX versions of the music for exemple).

... So the guy who doesn't know how to find them on the net will be happy to find them on EBAY ! There's even a store, the only one specialized in film music in Paris wich sells complete and promo score for 30 or 40E/$, and most of their stuff are just downloads from the Internet ! (Youhoooo ! CINEMUSIC, do you read that ?!!!).

By the way, I know GM to be very critical about other fans bootlegs, but I can assure you you will widen your collection of clean tracks considerably if you sneak around correctly, as for the sound quality wich can be very interesting. This remark is available for GM too, even if I expect that he probably won' t accept to borrow tracks he didn' t find by himself.

You can download my backcovers here (500Ko - sorry I've no simple tracklist I could report here) to check what can be found clean knowing that I can't stand SFX's. There's just 2 or 3 far echoes here and there in the bunch for each score. I would be curious to know what comes from GM's version because I found it quite different from what I had. Nevertheless thanks for such a hard collecting work.

... And don' t worry about the commercial look of the artworks, it's not for sale ! ;)

Edit: I took the liberty to remove a lot of repetitive or alternate stuff for each, and made 2-big-CD's versions.

Goodmusician,

Don't let internet lowlifes affect your passion and your desire to share it with others.

Here's a relevant story. I have a website where I offer scans of the stickers for Star Wars toys - all for free download. All the time, I see people profiting from my work with CDs of the images for sale, or even printed-out copies on adhesive paper. One ebayer even had the nerve to hotlink the images from my site. This really ticked me off, and it made me think about what I should do.

After blocking hotlinks from ebay, I decided to keep on doing what I always do. And I took it as an opportunity to try to do better than the profiteers by continually improving my work.

In the end, without an any army of lawyers, there's no way to stop people from reselling what I've done. As long as my work is out there being appreciated, that's all that matters. I can't help it if some people are too stupid to educate themselves or do a Google image search.

Hey, great scores. However, I was trying to make an isolated score track for the movie using your Episode III score and noticed that no matter what I do I cant get the Boys Into Battle I track to sync up to the movie. Do I need to speed it up slightly? I'm using a NTSC copy of ROTS.

I am right now listening to your Episode III edit, an impressive work you've made GoodMusician! :D

to be honest, ive never tried to sync boys into battle up. i dont think there should be any issues, but if your having some, it may be the mix points between the tracks. dont use the suite i made. use the first couple tracks on the album. it should fit but know there is still a bit of music near where they fly into the hangar thats missinh. also the music that isnt missing but if for the fight in the hangar is synced wrong in the film. it should actually end, not with obiwan striling down the droid as hejumps from his fighter, but rather with the cut to general grevious. what exactly is meant to go in that expanse past the partially unreleased part is unknown. it may not have been meant to be that long of a shot and they extendwed it but left the music. sry that its not proving easy

I was able to to sync it up exactly in the beginning (the force theme when the ships are flying around) but by the end of part I it lags behind the film. The little music hit after obi-wan says "let them come between us" is off. I'll try another version. I wanted to make an isolated music track that adds parts of the score that were cut from the film.

GM,

I've listened to ESB to find which tracks would have their channel inverted. After the listening of the CD1 I thought only "the magic tree" could have this particularity, though I' m not sure at all. Would you please give me a light on this ?

I didn' t check the CD2 yet for it, though my remastering is now ok... and even more. :) (Yes, I can remaster something without noticing flipped channel ! Strange would you say...).

heres where the general grevious and elevator scene should syncin a video edit I mad

As for inverted channels, there are two issues:

one- the anthology has a few tracks where the channels are completely flipped (right for left, left for right)

The SE however has JUST the horn channels flipped. This is an irreconcilable error unfortuantely. I have a cue breakdown that shows which ones are right and wrong. It's every track that was remixed for the SE and that the origianl Thornton mixes didn't exist...

It's a lot of the tracks sadly. The best ones too... main title, alt probe droid, battle in the snow, the asteroid field if I recall right, as well as hyperspace as a lot of the yoda music and Imperial March.

Ooh... I should have been more precise: I was talking about the ANTHOLOGY. Fortunately when both are combined to remake the score, only a few SE cues remain...

Do you remember wich tracks have their stereo flipped ?

I' m quite sure all the violins are on my left on about the 20 first tracks. Though, I have to give a listen to my CD2 now.

... And yes, it is sad.

EDIT: Oh wait... It seems that "Departure of Boba Fett" has been inverted...

A few pages back, GM you mentioned about the Force Unleashed soundtrack, not the promotional Mark Griskey one, but possibly a rip from the game with some previously unreleased cues for at least AOTC and ROTS?

I was wondering if there would be any way you could upload this soundtrack on its own as I would really like to add these cues to my own re-edits of the PT soundtracks?

Also, the uploads of your ROTS and AOTC soundtracks on your site, have you incorporated the new cues into them?

Thanks!

GM (or anyone esle)

Do you know if anyone has done anything with the SOTE soundtrack?  I was listening to it a while ago and it isn't a bad little soundtrack.  The only thing missing was a proper ending credits.  Does anyone know if anyone has cobbled anything like this together?

Not that i know of but i will edit the end credits in to the last piece on the OST.

If you guys want does anybody have a video or something of the end credits for the game so i know which ones im editing in.

I know what you mean about the channels being flipped, very very annoying. I'm currently trying to remake the original film score of ESB at the moment using mainly the anthology and if need be the original LP release, but trying to use as little of the SE as I can. And yea 'Departure of Boba Fett' is flipped and also 'Drawing Battle Lines / Leia's Instructions' is flipped about half way through too.

And I know this is always the same question being asked and I'm really not trying to be annoying, I understand the complications involved, but is there anymore news about your site and your uploads GM?

Which Anthology tracks have the channels flipped?  I just got a hold of a copy of the Anthology, and I'd like to fix them myself, but don't know enough about music to be able to tell which ones are messed up without the potential for screwing it up.
