Star Wars Poster Book - SCANNED!

Here you are - HUGE GIANT WONDERFUL PERFECT SCANS of most of the best posters from the Star Wars Poster Book.

I've scanned the largest versions of your favorite posters, and a few obscure ones too.

http://orangecow.org/starwars/SWposterbook/

Go ahead - download 'em all. Make covers out of 'em. Some of them are "detail" images that only show the main part of the image, zoomed in, which is nice because you can combine that with a less detailed scan of the whole thing to get a realllly sharp image.

You don't deserve me.

We love you LONG time! Even though I have it, it seems like you have a better scanner than I do, heh.

You are the fuckin' man, Garrett.

And if it makes you feel any better, I impressed a girl the other day with the number of Star Wars DVDs I own, so they are out there.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Firstly, thank you so much OCP!

Next, there is an ebay auction ending soon, some kind of Japanese Star Wars Photo/Art book. I was going to purchase it myself and then provide the whole thing scanned, but the postage is just too expensive for me. So, I make OT'ers aware in the hopes that one of us will win it. IT ENDS IN LESS THAN 1 DAY so we have to be quick about getting bids in.

It seems to have lots of different stuff that would be very nice scanned at high res, such as: photos of costumes/models/props, production stills, concept art and even storyboards! I know many of you would love to have this stuff, somebody on this board needs to buy that book! Maybe one person could purchase it and we could split the costs? I don't know. I just know that this book needs to be won! Here are some pictures from the auction listing:

I have that book. It's called "From Star Wars to Indiana Jones - The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives" Fantastic book. I recommend.

If you're referring to the book I linked to on ebay then no. It's called "The Art of Star Wars: Aichi Edition". It was released in 2003 in Japan to "celebrate the 150th Anniversary of USA-JAPAN Exchanges". It's 224 pages and doesn't have any Indiana Jones material in it.

If you're referring to OCP's scans, well, I thought OCP scanned them out of the new Star Wars Poster Book.

I don’t want to be an ass or anything but isn’t posting those pictures just blatant copyright infringement?

I see what ocp is trying to do however I don't want anyone to get into trouble over something like that.

Uh, if posting scans of Star Wars posters is copyright infringement, we'd have to shut down every cover site and half the internet.

A thread like this creates a bit of a dilemma. On one hand, these are scans out of a book you can buy in a store or online. On the other hand, these are images of posters used in countless pieces of fan art across the net.

I'm going to leave this open for the simple fact that these posters are already available online. But don't make this an excuse to start posting scans of every single Star Wars book you own.

And that's also not to say Moth3r or Jay will agree with me...

Thanks OCP!

Klokwerk, I believe that book was released in the West as the Star Wars Chronicles - I remember picking up a huge hardback book with slipcase which was based on a Japanese Book, about 10 years or so ago - cost me £125 then!

To an extent I agree. Obviously the fact that I have been a contributing member here for so long says something about what I think about what is going on on this website. However I do think that posting scans from a book that can be purchased legally is a bit over the line. After all we are not talking about scanning posters here. What we are talking about is scanning a book. The fact of the matter is that we can spend days going back and forth about this issue and it's validity here on this forum. Seeing as we are both members of a forum that actively partakes in the preservation of out of print movies I have to assume that along some line we have a common ground about what is right and what is wrong legally here. With that in mind I really have nothing left to say about this issue that won’t lead us, and this thread, in circles for the next few days/weeks.

I'm not trying to start a lengthy conversation about the legalities of this site. That is a matter that rests in the hands of the moderators and Jay alone. Outside of those people it is simply a matter of personal opinion that, in all fairness, doesn't amount to a whole hill of beans. I just wanted to point out that I think this particular thread may be going a bit far with its depiction of copyrighted material. That is it, period. No mal intent was intended.

Please don't take that as a knock against ocpmovie in any shape or form.

This is silly. Everyone's got scans of these particular posters already. I didn't scan the entire book, just the bits I thought would be most useful. There's nothing going on here that's new.

Yep. Just higher res scans of material that's been around for some time. OCP, would you mind letting me know what scanner you have (currently looking around for a decent one to buy)?

Also, now that there are higher res version of the 3 posters coov used for the Classic Edition covers, can we expect them to be revamped in high quality?

This bickering is pointless.

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.
