True. I merely wanted to present you with an alternative, rather than being forced to use the same logo twice. For continuity sake of course, the only plausible logo would be that one, since all other logos fall behind the ROTJ time-frame.

FYI, congratulations Leguman, you made the 1,000th post in this thread ;)

I must say it looks right in the actual spirit of "you know who" 's buiseness (not mentioning the target crowd). It is certaily not in the one of D_J's effort. ;)

Lucas is Voldemort now?

It would be nice for Jedi to have a symbol that wasn't a repeat of Star Wars, so all three had a unique label.  Maybe a lightsaber or something?  I hate to besmirch this effort with anything EU or PT but did the Jedi have a crest or something during the Old Republic?

Yes they did, this one:

But I'm pretty sure the whole idea of the disc covers was to have the logo represent the era and the film itself, not something that transpired hundreds of years before...

Yeah, I hate that.

Hmmm.  Nothing from Jedi?  Maybe an Ewok head that a scout walker stepped on?

Edit: wait, I have just to remove the 1985 from Empire then...?

... That's the only difference I can see...

Are you sure ? If yes it's done in 5 minutes...

Oh, and btw, I didn't want to make some but after all... I think it's the last time I play with this SW material... Simples but here:

Funny how all this look OT.comesque in the end. ;)

Don't like them.  They aren't 1977, 1980 or 1983.  If the movies are supposed to be a good representation of the originals, why can't the disc labels look 'classic' as well.  Aside from the color and the fonts, they don't match the awesome cover art.

Sorry but,... WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE LITTLE MAN ???... AND WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE TALKING TO ??!!!!!

I'M AN ARTIST, ME, AND YOUR JUST ONLY A... Eeeerrr... Hahem...

Well, actually I don't like labels in general and I only made these to avoid DJ asking away for some. I don't know what would be a more classic DVD label, as the DVD as a support has nothing classic at all. The best labels are for me the plain silver background (but mostly on CD) with the logos and a few infos.

I think there are enough visuals on the covers not to add more on the labels if that's what you had in mind. The best issue I see personnaly would be a film logo only label, black and white.

Anyway, I'm sure any one will be able to handle some new versions if needed. ;)

Yeah, I'm not sure how you can get a disc label to look like it belongs in 1977-1983...

Author

Maybe ones like a tape reel...

But unfortunately it still matches with the Imperial logo. Damn. They're everywhere.

How about using some Ralph McQuarrie artwork for the discs?  Here's an example of one you could use for Star Wars:

Ralph McQuarrie art is actually an awesome idea.  Dunno why it didn't occur to me...

I love being friends with Legoman, at least until he bans himself.  Then I'll miss him.

I guess my main beef with the rebellion and empire logos is that while they appear in the film, it isn't explicitly obvious what they are.  The logo that became the logo for the Rebellion in the EU just started to be one of a myriad of logos that were on the X and Y-wing pilots helmets.  It only became the logo of the Rebellion outside of the movies.

I think the discs might be served with poster art to match the covers.

Or maybe there could be discs art based on the helmets of the movies.  For this project or any other one.

Your arguments are right Sluggo. A bit too intellectual for Leguman though.

Actually I think corellian has had the best idea here.

Author

True.  It is a good idea.

WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS???!?!?!? ;)

I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Just... don't go with that gold logo. I don't care for the post-faces logos, at least not on disc art.

The Anthology soundtracks used McQuarrie and they were gorgeous.

I think simple logos would be terrific too.  Like one of Leguman 's Empire covers.  They're great logos.

Don't know if this has been asked, and I know it's WAAAAAY late in the game,

but, um...

Any chance of having isolated scores as an audio option?  Ok, ok, ok.  Maybe in V4?  ;)

The ONLY way I would even consider adding isolated scores is if ABC would do them, other than that no, at least not on this set, because as you know we did ESB IE and that sounds beautiful! but he has stated ha has no interest in doing the other 2, but if he did, I would definitely add them in.

I have heard some of the isolated scores on other releases and none of them sounded good at all, that is why I will only include it if ABC would team up with me again.

sorry

OH and as far as disc labels go, I to would like to have images on them and try and match up better with the FANTASTIC covers, but ABC did make them for this set and if he says these are the finals, I am good with that, beggars can't be choosers.

Author
Time

Wellllll, I'm sure that that would be no problem getting ABC on the job, right?  Er... right?

We're doomed...

But seriously, if this makes us beggars, we're pretty wealthy beggars.  Thanks, guys.

Does anyone know where to find good quality versions of the original trailers to these? would kind of be nice to add these at least.

Author
Time

What about the 2004 DVD set?  I seem to recall a mess of trailers on there.

Author

Especially the trailer of ESB narrated by Harrison Ford.  Exhibit A of why he never got into voice work!

I didn't think the 2004 DVD set would have the originals to be honest.

From thedigitalbits review:

Fans of Star Wars minutiae will be pleased to learn that a whole gallery of rare theatrical trailers and TV spots for each film has been included on this disc, each in anamorphic widescreen video and presented in quality you've never seen before.

LOL I must admit, all the retail DVD's I bought I really do not watch at all, I only really watch the ones I make up, and lately it has been only the Blu's, as a matter of fact my little boy and I just watched Revenge of The Sith on Blu yesterday.

But Thanks Frink, that is good to know.
