These are for ESB.  I don't think ANH is any different, but I would have to check.  As dark_jedi reminded me, ROTJ would have different values, as it is based on the PAL version.

By the way, these values are for an anamorphic DVD.

EDIT: ANH is different.  I edited the previous post.

EDITED AGAIN: I removed the third option as it was wrong.  My mistake!

Small update on things, all video is now done for all 3 movies, now with all the experience I have been getting with Vegas I am going to re-do ALL the extra audio files I am going to be adding to these sets, the bonus stuff for ESB is all done and I have all menu's and audio for the menu's all ready to go on all movies, now with my Return of The Living Dead project done I will hop back onto this before moving on to Return of The Living Dead 2 and 3.

So the V3 and MBE sets will be done in the not so distant future, barring any unforseen events.

And then what will you do with your time? ;-)

NOT going to do anything Star Wars that is for sure, I am going to retire from anything Star Wars following the release of these sets, no more for me, my LD player and discs are getting put up forever, but to answer your question, nothing for a while, going to take a very long break.

That's great news dark_jedi!  I've been really looking forward to seeing these ever since you posted your ANH sample clip awhile back.

Out of curiosity, did you use gforce's script "as is", or did you modify it?  I ask because when I tried to apply the script myself to ANH, the results looked good, but not quite as good as what you posted -- your picture is a bit sharper, and your overall colour balance seems better than the results I obtained (mine seems to lean toward yellow).

RotJ's 5.1 is nearly complete; there is only one edit left to finish.  I hadn't anticipated doing it, but I decided to replace a short section of the 1993 mix (Luke defeats Vader) with the 35mm stereo, because I prefer the way it sounds with the music carrying the scene as it does in the original mix.  The LFE channel is all done, so after I make the final edit I'll send it off to Satanika for upmixing as before, and it'll be good to go.

Definitely looking forward to this set . . .  ;)

hairy_hen, I need your help in remembering what errors were in what mix, do you remember a few weeks back when we were discussing this, I know I said I had all fixed(and you said you did to) but all my files now are SO jumbled up I "may" have to fix these again unless you already have them done, I REALLY should have just stayed on 1 movie at a time instead of SE V2 and GOUT V3 all at once, now I am paying the price.

Thanks

OH, and that is great news about Jedi!

No, I altered nothing in the script but the subs, g-force was pretty explicit on this all working together, so no changes, but I do not feed the script into an encoder like most, I make a lossless avi file first, then I can do whatever with it later.

That's the scene with the dropout I mentioned a while back (on the 1993 mix)- did you ever find that?

Mielr: I started listening closely to that scene because you pointed it out.  ;)  There is definitely a music dropout in the left channel just before Luke cuts off Vader's hand, which is fairly jarring once heard.  Then I went to the 35mm mix and found that this same dropout is also present there, but for some reason it is much less noticeable.  At the same time, I found that the balance of the 35mm version was superior in that scene, because the lightsaber sounds in the 1993 mix are too loud.  They don't drown out the music, but compared to the original mix they push it out of its prominence somewhat.

So not only will the 5.1 make the dropout less audible, but the scene's epic music will come through more clearly.  It's a win-win.

dark_jedi: Do you mean the 35mm stereo mix of Empire?  The early version you made that I listened to had a noticeable gap in the sound when the door slams shut behind Luke as he enters the carbon freeze chamber.  I don't remember offhand if there was an LD side break there, but if so then missing frames would be the likely culprit.  There was also some hissing during the silence before the start of the main title music, and the very beginning of the file had a bit of something else on the laserdisc before the movie started.  I seem to remember you saying you'd fixed those things, but I haven't heard a corrected file.

No I was talking about those '93 mix errors that we all had on our copies from a.b.starwars, the one where there was that strange buzz when the Falcon was setting up an attack run on the Star Destroyer and wasn't there more? also were we not talking about possible errors on the Star Wars mix as well? this is what I can't remember, this was the files done by belbecus wasn't it?

Author
Time

Oh, those.  There was that weird screeching in the left channel when the Falcon attacks the Avenger, and then the music jump cut/repetition at the beginning of the carbon freeze scene.  You sent me the Avenger scene from the Faces laserdisc for the first one, and the second is fixable with a small splice from the GOUT.

The Faces soundtrack was phase-inverted compared to the Definitive Collection soundtrack from Belbucus, but flipping that back to match was a simple task.  If you like I can send you my fixes for both of those if you can't find them.

There were some audio errors in Belbucus' first upload of the Star Wars '93 pcm, which apparently he corrected in the second upload.  They were of shorter duration than either of the glitches in Empire, and I would never have known about them if they hadn't been mentioned here.  I don't have the corrected version of that.

Yes I sure would like you to send the fixes, that would be a GREAT help, I am going to have to sort through everything and see where I am at on things, audio wise, video is all done for both sets, well actually all 3 sets.

I'm loving your posts more and more dj :)  I'm also starting to become quite anxious to hear how these movies will sound... might be a good time to go buy myself a decent sound system so I can fully appreciate the audio side of this project.

Well it sure feels good to have the SE V2 done and ESB IE, and ALL video is already done for the GOUT V3, now I need to do all audio and finally slap this bitch together LOL, hopefully hairy_hen is still going to help me get these fixes together for the audio we discussed above, we are getting there slowly but surely, I just hope it was worth the wait.

I'm sure it will be quite worth the wait!

I assume he means WookieGromer's BD-R versions of the HD broadcasts.  Right?
