I've registered and posted on their boards 2 days ago asking for an invite. So far, no answer. Do they normally take this long?

P.S. Not that I'm impatient, but I've been waiting for over a year for this project. Cannot wait to see it and bask in its awesomeness.

If you weren't impatient you would have waited longer than two days to come back here maybe looking for a quicker response.  LOL

We have had so much trouble with people flooding any thread they can for an invite only to hit n run over there and never come back here again that we changed how it was done.

I cannot stop someone here from sending you an invite via pm.  I am concerned about people signing up there only to hit n run.  They don't deserve the disrespect and neither do we.

Please give it a day or two longer then politely bump your request there.  Those folks are busy too.

Thanks

Someone helped me out. I received an invite , as of this post, I'm 55% completed.

Jetrell, I have no intention of doing a snatch & run. While I may not have the greatest of connections, I'm planning on seeding these for quite a while (with a ratio of over 1).

As an FYI, I'm also a member at another private torrent site with a high ratio demand. I seed over 50 torrents there and my ratio is currently 3:1.

I understand your concerns, but you do not need to worry about me.

Try saying "May the 4th" out loud, and you might understand...if not, here is some help:

I "get" it. In that I understand what's supposed to be funny. It isn't funny, and it's kind of crap that takes away from May 25th, IMO.

That said, I'm looking forward to Dark Jedi's team's restoration. Will have to find time to get it.

So I finally have the '77 version downloaded, and it's splendid - kudos to all involved!

Although if I did have to nitpick about something, it's that there's a slight bit of aliasing at least once in the film. But it's hardly noticeable. Come to think of it, there's a lot of motion smearing too, but that's just because it's an upscale.

I'll go burn it to a BD right now! Oh no, it's just half a gigabyte too large for my BD... what should I do now?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

I though so too, but both discs burned and played fine for me. I used ImgBurn.

Just wait until our stuff starts showing up on ebay... This is just how it is, unfortunately.

The aliasing and smearing are there thanks to Lucasfilm. You'll never find another version sourced from the 2006 GOUT with less aliasing than ours though! :)

I'd like to send a big THANK YOU to dark_jedi, You_Too and all involved in this project. I've been able to watch SW77 a couple of times now, and I am very impressed.  The bonus feature of before/after really makes you realize just how much hard work was put into this release.

The sound is particularly impressive.  JW's score is just so marvelously conveyed in this version.

Yes, there is an occasional bit of aliasing, but when compared to the 2006 GOUT DVDs, I'd say it's 90% eliminated.  I'd love to know what technical process was used to reduce/eliminate the aliasing?  I came here in 2006 in attempts to correct the aliasing myself, and upscale the GOUT DVDs to anamorphic.  I succeeded in the anamorphic part, but never got anywhere with the aliasing.  And the color work done is quite the feat!

Also, how did you guys get so much damn detail out of the original source?  So impressive.

I have downloaded but not watched the 97SE, yet.  What was the source for this one?

So, what about the other two soundtracks on the '97SE, are they encoded from the theatrical DTS as well?

I provided Dark_Jedi with the Laserdisc 5.1 ac3 and stereo LPCM tracks.  The ac3 track was synchronized by trimming and joining the individual ac3 files from each LD side, with the goal of avoiding any re-encoding.  The one exception was a tiny patch right at the cut between Alderaan's explosion and the interior of the Millennium Falcon, where the LD was missing a couple frames.  This was seamlessly patched from the DTS audio.

For the stereo LPCM, the bitperfect LD rip was synchronized at 44.1kHz and was kept bit perfect with the exception of a few crossfades at the various edit points.  (There were only 3 or 4 spots).  The final track was resampled to 48kHz using Izotope RX Advanced v3.

I did provide Team Blu with a synchronized Dolby Prologic down mix of the Theatrical DTS track created by the APT-x100 winamp decoder.  It appears that Team Blu hasn't included that mix, probably for redundancy/disc space reasons.  I can upload that somewhere later, if there's interest.

If I had some gum, I’d chew a hole into the sun…

I tried many methods until I found an avisynth plugin called QTGMC which on its very slowest setting did an amazing job on antialiasing. Especially since it didn't destroy any detail while doing it.

It's a combination of a careful upscaling and using Msharpen to dig out detail from within the grain.

The so called TB version. We looked at all available sources and this one had the most preserved detail.

I can't wait to dig into these when my new HDD arrives. Again, thanks for all this work recovering these from the mess they were encoded with.

Really excited for the new color timing and the SEs!

IMUHO, this is worse than the original posts.  It disrupts the flow of conversation, leaves people wondering what the hell happened, and is a bit of a cop out to boot.  People have actually been banned in the past for doing this.

I don't really see anything wrong with that. The person I remember being banned for this deleted all his posts from entire long conversations - I think it's ok to delete one post before anyone even reacts to it.

To keep my post on topic, how did you guys go about doing the 97SE subtitles? Did you have any theatrical reference?
