Yes, it was.  What I'm talking about now is essentially the same thing, but since I recently gained the ability to upmix using real Dolby Prologic II, the channel separation and imaging are now somewhat improved compared to how it was previously.  I'll also eventually do the other two movies the same way, as well.

Great to hear that you are going to do the other 2 movies, we were wondering this.

So will you share the mono wavs?

Oh, that's great news, that means it will be even more precise now. I'm sure this latest version will sound superb on the V2 Blu-ray set. :)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

I confess I'm oddly excited for your Special Edition Blu Rays. Admittedly I don't agree with a lot of the SE changes, but they were my first introduction to Star Wars and as such they have a lot of nostalgic value to me.

Two questions: what have you sourced them from, and whereabouts in the thread have you posted screencaps from them?

Thanks!

@DavidMerrick: Here is an old post with some before/after color comparisons for ANH 97 SE.

Basically they're all sourced from the TB versions (the main audio is sourced from the real 1997 theatrical DTS discs) and will have simple color correction and be upscaled but that's about it, since our main focus is the originals.

Just curious.... (and getting very anxious to see these...!) :-)

Is there an ETA for those of us who donated blanks?

Can't wait!

Sorry buy not yet, SW 77 and ANH 97 SE are all ready for authoring and You_Too and I still need to go over ESB, the Team needs to take breaks in between looking at all this SW stuff so that is why we throw in other projects in between the SW stuff, plus 2 of the Team members are taking a short leave at the moment, 1 for personal Life stuff and 1 for health reasons, so the rest of us are doing what we can when we can, so all I can say is at this point we have no problems sending back your blanks if that is what you want, I am sorry some of these projects are taking so long but there is nothing I can do about it, the Team members are spread out all over the World, I am the only one in the US.

I also have had my share of real life taking over at times as well, getting real busy at work, and I will not even look at project stuff this weekend, my Son and Wife and I are in Joliet watching NASCAR this whole weekend, so again sorry, so if any of you decide you want your SW blanks back because we are taking to long we will understand and I will get them to you asap.

But for all you looking for some new stuff coming soon non SW related, NOTLD 90 SE is going to get uploaded this week and Conan The Barbarian Extended will follow very shortly after, these are both done and tested and ready to go!

1 more thing, since Fright Night Part II is almost finished as well I will say that SW 77 and ANH 97 SE BD25's will be next before we move onto both Terminators, True Lies, Swamp Thing, Feast, and The Neverending Story, but ESB and ROTJ will be a while longer, ESB will take the longest for us, the 97 SE's will not take long at all.

So are there threads for all these other projects? I'd be especially inerested in what you guys are planning with the Terminators and the Neverending Story.

Here's the Terminator 1 & 2 thread. Most good stuff is on the last few pages.

We haven't started a thread about The Neverending Story yet, but basically we'll be using the new extended blu-ray release, which has some waxdoll-ish DVNR but the best colors and contrast so far, and remove some edge sharpening and add back the lost grain and then probably create both an extended and normal version. (the normal version on this new release is the same dark, orange version that was released before)

It'll all be worth the wait, Team Blu's work is top notch!

I know you guys said you aren't accepting any more Blu Ray donations, but is there a chance you might make a second run for both versions of ANH?

I would like to but I have switched to a different set of blanks that I will be using from here on out after I use up the old ones and there is only an option for a 50 pack spindle only, so it is not worth it anymore for you guys now I am thinking, these are what I will be using for BD25's.

No, no problem, I was just curious. Whenever they're done, they're done. :-)

If that's the case, what are the odds we could, say, PayPal you money and you could send us a slipcase?

(I just like things to look nice.) :p

I know it's a bit off topic, but what makes that new version of Verbatim discs better than the last?

Not a chance, we accept NO money what so ever, and I am not sure by what you mean anyways, send you a slipcase?

Author

Ah geez, I misread an earlier post and thought you guys were making slipcases for these, for which I would have gladly forked over a few dollars. Never mind my tomfoolery.

Author

OK just to let you guys know for sure, we have confirmed that once Fright Night Part II is finished we are going to author up Star Wars 77 and A New Hope 97 SE, so not to much longer now, FN2 might be done as early as next week sometime, fingers crossed.

Awesome news, I really want to watch Fright Night Part II!

Yea it is to bad I can't find cheaper spindles of the BD's I use now, We have some pretty neat stuff for a bonus for people that donate blanks, but unfortunately the ones I use only come in a 50 pack.

Hey there DJ, I'm a noob to the site but I'm old enough to have seen Star Wars in 1977 at the theater! Anyway, I've D/L all three and will try to at least watch SW this weekend. I've already seen Harmy's 2.1 despecialized edition (looking forward to 2.5) but I'm also looking forward to your v3 editions. I just wanted to say a word of thanks and appreciation to you, Harmy, Adywan, and all of the OT fans out there who have contributed their time, resources and efforts to preserving what we were priveleged to see in 1977, 1980 and 1983. Lucas is a megalomaniac and can go suck it for all I care. Thanks again with my deepest gratitude to everyone involved.

@Alex Rogan: Welcome! Actually, me and DJ are working on a blu-ray v2 right now so the DVD v3 you're mentioning is very outdated, DJ would tell you the same. Basically it'll blow away the v3 by far so if you're interested, check the thread every now and then and we'll keep you updated.
