Well, just got past taking a good hard look at all three BDs myself, and while I don't own a surround sound system (yet), I can definitely vouch for the picture quality. It is unlike anything Star-Wars related I have ever seen before.

If my Star Wars Complete Saga box arrives, I can damn well guarantee you I will take this set over HD pink sabers any day.

Even coming straight from my television, rather than a sound system, the audio is still noticeably better than any other DVD release, and comes pretty damn close to ordinary run-of-the-mill BD audio master tracks.

I'm not going to go in extreme detail, since so many have done this before me. I can only say I totally approve their reviews, and embrace this set wholeheartedly.

These are keepers. Fine job DJ, damn fine job.

Any chance anyone who has received a copy could upload it or do something to redistribute it? With DJ's permission, of course, he said he's too busy to burn BRs for people, or to upload it to MySpleen. Anyone that receive a copy already care to push it out to the rest of us?

LOL, I do not have a ton of blank BD's lying around to burn every single person that PM's me a Set, I was busy at the time of your PM working on Conan and Night of The Living Dead, now those are done, I have also politely asked that the people that donated blanks do NOT get bothered by this kind of request, it is NOT their responsibility to share this Set, that is why they donated blanks, either they do not have burners themselves, or do not have the ability to download/upload 75+ GB's, or both, or neither, it is a bonus for them for their donation and being the final testers, but the point is, I WILL upload\share them when I am ready, I am still trying to figure out the best way to do this, just like with the kind people that donated blank DL DVD's for the V3 DVD Set, they did not have to do any kind of sharing either, it was their bonus for doing what they did and being final testers, and they eventually made there way out to the masses.

So no offense, but this kind of request really bothers me.

Looking at your profile, it looks like you just joined 10 days ago and have only made 2 posts, so what is wrong with a little patience?

Okay, I apologize. I took your reply to me as saying that you were involved in other projects that were as involved as SW is/was so you wouldn't realyl be available for the foreseeable future (as you've been working on this since, what, 2009?) but I see your point and I'll just be patient. I've been lurking for a lot longer than 10 days but just recently put together a home theater worthy of firing up the OT version of the trilogy and got a bit excited, that's all. I'll just be patient now.

DJ, if one of the people that you sent the Bluray disks to WANTED to take it upon themselves to upload the discs somewhere, would that be cool?

I understand that you aren't asking anyone to do that, and you don't want anyone else to bother them about it. But if they wanted to, just to spread the awesomeness around for others that don't have them yet, I bet that would take a lot of the pressure off you to worry about uploading them.

I remember back in the day, people would burn copies to send to others, and they would burn a few more and send to different people...Maybe we can do that ? I might even be willing to buy a bluray burner for the cause :)

I've been lurking for a while on this site after becoming slightly obsessed with Revisited and stumbled across this.

I gotta say, if this is even half as well done as the dozens of pages of comments I've read seem to indicate, then we can all chill with the Lucas hate and just watch these from now on knowing that in the end, we won. If someone would be kind enough to throw me a spare MySpleen invite I would be pleased as punch for the chance to finally have some proper Star Wars to watch.

On the off-chance that this hasn't been suggested 3,721 times already and shot down for some obvious reason I can't think of right now, would it be possible to get a torrent of this going somewhere a bit more bustling than myspleen? If it gets added to isohunt or even demonoid or something it would get aggregated onto btjunkie and there would be an easy to get at and mostly permanent download for this out there.

Hello to all,

I'm new to the forum, but have been a viewer for a while and a frequent visitor to originaltrilogy.com (signed the petition long ago) and have been very interested in the pre-Special Edition DVD sets that have been discussed.  Would love to get copies of the OT any way I can; MySpleen invite, or whatever.

If some are hesitant because I'm new I understand, but would love to be able to watch the OT the way I remember.

Thanks in advance

As promised I will provide a review after each film (shhh it wil have to be from work though) as I will be too drunk to write afterwards........again TY for my early September. You rock my man!!!!

I am the proud new father of this:

That is pretty cool, you used ABC's Blu-ray covers he did up for me for this Set, he would be very happy I am sure, thanks for posting the pic, it is neat to see what they look like in the actual Blu-ray cases.

looking forward to reading your reviews, and Thanks.

Nice labels and covers John Stewart. Personally I house my Project Blu set in the John Alvin style covers with some nice Blu-Ray cases I got in Best Buy. :-)

There are high quality versions of the John Alvin artwork in this thread.

All these cool covers just make me want this set more and more !

But I have to be honest...every time people ask if these are gonna be uploaded or in some other way "distributed", it seems to be ignored.

Is there just some people that got the set, and no plans to spread it beyond that ? I mean if thats the case, I would understand. It would be a shame, but if this is the case, at least level with the rest of us.

Please dont hate me for asking this...I mean no disrespect to anyone :)

WOW, after reading this, I am going to try real hard here to answer this without giving serious attitude, but yes, they are getting ignored now, I have already said several times when I figure out HOW I am going to release these, then, and only then, will I say how and when, for shits sake, the last of the testers just received there Set a couple days ago, this Set was just finished, I mean I understand the excitement for something new, but when I read comments like the bold part above, it doesn't make me feel real well about the situation, and don't even get me started on some of the PM's I have been getting, all I can say is unbelievable, where were all you guys that want to donate blanks now, back when I was needing\accepting them LOL.

I mean back in the day we always had trading we here at OT could do, but that really does not work for me now because there is nothing here I am interested in, so don't ask anymore about trading me this edit, or that edit, I am not interested at all, sorry.

So I will say this one more time and hope that you guys understand me, these Discs are 22.5 GB's a piece, and uploading to a fileshare service is OUT OF THE QUESTION, I hate these services, and it seems links are always going down or disappearing, so NO way, sorry.

The newsgroups I may do, not 100% sure yet, I still read here that some just do not get it, or will not try it, or just don't understand how to use it, hell or maybe all the above, so learn it, this may be the way I go, I am leaning more towards this method.

PIF, which is pay it forward, this was mentioned by someone in a post above, for example, I burn a Set for someone, that that guy burns a couple Sets, for a couple people and so on, well anyone that knows me from my posts, knows I am 100% totally against this, I have personally been screwed over before on this several times back in the day and will NEVER rely on someone else to share my work again, sorry.

I have also been tossing around torrents, and obviously I would put them up at Myspleen if I go this route, but this is going to be SO much to upload, I know the Disc is 22.5 GB's, but you ALWAYS upload way more than that before there are other seeders, and then you have the fucking hit and runners, which I guess I should not worry about because there is nothing I can do about it anyways, but it still pisses me off LOL badly!

So there you have it, they will show up at some point either on the groups, or Spleen, just give me some more time, hell all the testers have not even chimed in yet, and I am assuming some probably won't or they would have by now.

Thanks for the detailed update on how this may be distributed in the future, dark_jedi.  In DanishDVDfreak's defense, I think he, like many others here, are just very anxious to see the result of all your hard work.  The fact that they're done but not available yet just increases people's anticipation.

For what it's worth, I think newsgroups or torrents would be good ideas.  Torrents have the slight advantage of being easier for more people to use, but like you said, you're the one getting the short end of the stick at the beginning by having to upload everything.  They can also be unreliable in the seeding department (nothing worse than being stuck at 99% complete with no one seeding).  On the other hand, newsgroups, although they require a very small learning curve when using them for the first time, are fast and reliable... that's how I got Ady's Star Wars Revisited edit back in the day.  The only downside with newsgroups, if I'm correct, is that they cost money.  I remember using Giganews to get SW:R, but because it was under 10GB, I was able to get away with a free trial.  Obviously, this wouldn't be the case with your set, but that being said, personally I'd be more than happy to shell out a few bucks for an account if it meant being able to get your Project Blu.

I'm looking forward to seeing what route you decide to go with, and thanks again for the update.

DJ, did you find anyone to print your covers on better paper yet?  I could get that done for you.  Let me know.

Hi DJ,

Please do not take it personally. There are simply some people here who are impatient is all. As you know, I myself waited almost a whole year before getting to see the V3 DVDs. And I live in the far east, so I am quite sure that it is not practical to donate blanks to you for you to burn and send halfway around the world. Cest La Vie..

I guess I see it from a half full vs half empty point of view. There is a _CHANCE_ that I can get these fantastic things, whereas before I came to this forum, there was 0 chance of me getting it. Trust me, all I had was a VCR recording from a terrestrial broadcast from 20 years ago + some VCR home videos I bought a decade ago. Today, I at least have V3 and it is already a huge step up from what I had previously. How fortunate I am. And all thanks to you.

So while the only hope I have of getting Project Blu is if it is uploaded one day, I can tell you, please take your time. If it will only happen in 2012, so be it. Again, at least I have a chance of getting it one day, versus not at all.

PS. I feel newsgroups are better for the uploader for sizes of this magnitude. You need to upload several times the total size if you do it via torrents before a couple of other stable seeders can help take up the slack. Whereas, with sufficient PAR2s, you could probably do it in "one go" via newsgroups. Just IMHO..

Outing myself as one of those people sending one of these unbelievable offers to donate blanks, I must day: sorry for the offer! I guess... :p

I've been out of the loop at OT.com for a few years now, getting back in the last couple of days, so I'm again sorry that I'm late to the party. I didn't mean to upset you by wanting to contribute in SOME way (since I'm late, unfortunately I didn't have a chance for any other contributions)... but there's no need to get cranky about it ;)

You created a marvellous set, so you shouldn't be suprised people are all over it. I understand that it was a huge amount of work, and having total strangers asking you to do some more work (like uploading, burning discs or whatever) after that kind of achievement is surely irritating and doesn't feel like your effort is appreciated. Let me tell you, it is!

DISCLAIMER: I only just discovered this thread. And I've read a few pages in fascination.

What brought me was the posting of the V3 DVDs on a.b.sw.

I understand that the quote above concerns only the Blu-ray discs, but a few minutes ago was the first time I'd ever heard about the DVDs either. So I ask only in curiosity...

dark_jedi, is it you who's posting the DVD versions? Not that it matters, I suppose, but I want to tell you that I'll be downloading them. Wasn't at all sure (there are a LOT of Star Wars edits and preservations!) but the opinions here make it seem more than justified.

Thank you for your good work -- some of which I've seen before, and more of which I'll soon be downloading.

(And I will say these about the newsgroups: they offer wide propagation and (with a higher-level provider) a sense of permanence. Both good things.)

d_j, I know you're working on another project but I'm just wondering if you had a chance to compare the V3 & Blu editions of ESB to see if you see that skin-tone bleeding thing I noticed in the medical frigate scene on the Blu edition.

Has anyone else had a chance to look for it?

Just curious.
