Don't know if anyone is interested, but here is a file with the JSC artwork I made years ago for DVD (also includes the raw scans).

Thanks for posting, Arnie.d! Very nice quality.

And thanks again for your superb job on these, Althor! :)

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

As there are many people without usenet access, would you mind if I posted the JSC Trilogy on MySpleen? This preservation should be shared with as many people as possible. Of course, I would give you full credit and post the contents of the "nfo" file in the description. Is that okay?

That would be completely ok with me if you wanted to do that.  Thanks for offering to do it!

It will be awhile before I get the drive account set up but when I do I will post here when it's ready.

@Arnie.d , I'm not currently working on the 97SE trilogy but I would like to have something like the JSC BD-25 for the 97SE so I will probably get around to it someday lol.

The torrent has been posted on MySpleen. Thank you to anyone that can help me seed it.

I just finished downloading.  The JSC trilogy and TPM extracted fine, but I can't get any of the SE trilogy to repair.  SW has 51 damaged files, TESB has 54 damaged files, and ROTJ has 1 damaged file.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Althor, is there any difference in the 97SE raw caps from about 200 days ago and the REUP? I was already downloading the old ones when I noticed there was a reup.

I had the same problem.  I was bummed.

For me SW SE is downloading fine so far, no damage in the first 300 files or so, but I'm downloading the old one.

I would have to assume that all of the  97SE posts are bad at this point.  Although I know that a couple people were able to succesfully snatch ROTJ after downloading the extra files that I posted after the initial post.  The Re-ups were done because the first post of SW97 and ESB97 were not successful for the few who tried to snatch them(maybe you will be successful Arnie).

I myself test downloaded sw97 and TPM after uploading and was able to extract the files but it seems that none of them are complete now. It seems like if I post anything around the 20gb mark everything seems to work but going over 60gb with a post just isn't reliable.

Does anybody have any suggestions other than the drive account?  I'm not keen to upload them to the newsgroup again. Torrents are out of the question.

I guess the easiest solution would be to create new pars and share them via google drive or mega.nz.  That way you may not need to upload a huge amount.

I deleted the RAR files months ago. I have only the raw avi files now.

Anybody who is interested in getting the 97SE from me should PM me and I will send you a link when I have it prepared. I'll try to make each capture available for about a month each.  We'll start with making SW97SE available and then move on to ESB97SE and ROTJ97SE.  After I take down the links I won't be offering this anymore at least until online storage becomes free lol.

With that being said, should I generate new rar's from the raw avi's or is there a better way?

BTW, if anybody is thinking about uploading raw captures to usenet I would capture each side separately and upload them separately like I did with the JSC.  I haven't had any complaints about those uploads and they are mostly around 10-25 gb each.

That method worked back on page 7 right? Hadn't you already deleted the JSC rar's?
I would certainly try it.

Use the same WinRAR version, if you haven't already upgraded, and same part size obviously.
JSC had no compression nor encryption-- hopefully that's true again.
In that case, any difference in the new rar's should be confined to the headers--
e.g. timestamp off by one hour due to summer time-- Windows is stupid that way.
With a little luck you'd only have to host a par set.

I'm still on the fence regarding 1982 P/S.
Didn't you say Side1 had some rough spots? If any frames dropped I'd surely be wasting my time.
Would like to crack the pulldown using extant MPEG2 sources before attempting such a large download, but haven't worked on it lately.
Anybody tried extracting those rar's?

Finally got the JSC trilogy. Just gotta say, incredible work, Althor! These are about as good as the JSC set will ever look. Thank you so much.

@ Mallwalker, when I setup the drive account I will make the rar's the same size as the re-up so perhaps people can just grab the parts that are corrupt.  I will be posting the entire archive though so somebody can grab an entirely fresh set though.  This time without the pitfalls of server propagation that usenet has, it shouldn't be a problem to simply snatch everything without using par's to reconstruct everything.  I will make a new set of par's to accompany the set though just for the sake of completeness.

I've never had Vdub ever tell me that it's dropped a frame while capturing with my theater 750hd so I'm pretty sure that the 82P&S is all there.  If you are concerned about quality there is a 4.5gb version on the spleen which has no post-processing other than adjusted levels if you want to check it out.  I did do some noise reduction on the audio for side1 but not side2.  The raw files of course would still be entirely raw and you will hear some noise on the side1 audio.  Of course if you ivtc'ed and frame synced to the gout my captured audio would probably be the last source you'd want to use lol.

Thanks to everybody for the compliments on the JSC Trilogy BD-25.  Everybody else who helped me out with it really made it happen.  I just encoded the files and made the menus :).  Darth Mallwalker's IVTC scripts really are what have made this possible.  His references from earlier JSC captures and masochistic ability to manually IVTC all 3 films were invaluable!

This has proven to me that releasing your raw captures into the wild is the best possible thing to do.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm proud to be a contributor, but don't sell yourself short.
You've put a lot of work into JSC, and still working hard to make SE available for those who want it.
While I still don't need no stinkin' SE-- I'm certain they will appreciate your drive hosting plan.

IVTC scripts are finally on usenet, in case the pastebin expire earlier in this thread.
Maybe it's masochistic, however I do enjoy it.
The single fields, the 2's that should've been 3's-- that is where the fun begins.

I have not IVTC'ed but I have deinterlaced(mostly) by using a filter that puts fields in the correct order.
I'd seen the torrent before, but never quite understood what you meant in that statement.
Are fields out of order in the raw cap, in such a way that AssumeTFF/BFF won't cure it?
Is the torrent rate still 29.97?

I probably worded it wrong but what i did was use TFM which recovers progressive frames but does not decimate.  The frame rate stays at 29.97.

I'm grabbing the JSC right now! What a great way to preserve the JSC - all on one disc with high quality encode - love it! Thanks to althor1138 and everyone else involved! Now, my question is - did anyone make a JSC inspired BD cover and disc label for this release? If not, I'll probably make my own and then I'll be happy to share it :-)

I didn't do a cover. That would be awesome if somebody did a nice cover. Arnie's covers are pretty nice. I dont have a template but it would probably be easy to convert from DVD cover to bd cover. Anyhow, if you make one please feel free to share it here!

I watched the first film so far and wow! These preservations are great! The color and detail, pre DVNR, is astonishing.

It seems to my eye that much of the laser fire throughout the first film is brighter than in other video versions. Could this be due to the fact that it was transfered so long ago and that the source print would have had less fading?

I also actually don't mind the bits of dirt on the film. It's a subtle reminder to me of the beauty of motion picture film, the way it was used for 100 years before all of the new age digital cameras.

This is really appreciated, especially since I only have one physical JSC to examine. Technidisc aside these are the best video transfers out there for my money, and to have a wonderful version like this for people is wonderful.

My question is, did you really use a usb capture device to transfer? I've always wanted to try my hand at LD transferal but never thought my lowly PC could handle it.

althor,

I just downloaded the JSC BD25 you made and I love it.  It is a perfect way to have these all on one disc.  Hell, I would have downloaded a BD50 of it if the extra space would have offered more options.  Thanks for the great work.

On a side note, I am wondering how you made your simple menus for the BD.  Since I have some HD-DVD stuff that I'm synching with cinema DTS and putting them in to a Bluray format I'd like to be able to do the same for them.

Any chance you'd share how you did it?

Thanks
