Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

Meh, call me when Super Bombad Racing gets an HD remake. 😉
I’m excited for this!
Pissed oooooooooofff!!! (Xbox-boy here)
Seriously though, this reveal confirmation makes me excited. The idea of canonizing Revan’s story is extremely appealing to me. KotOR is not only probably one of the easiest of the Legends canon to fold back into the Disney canon (as it’s so far removed from the timeline of the vast majority of content released by them so far), it’s also one of the best and most revered of all Star Wars stories in the franchise, revered by me especially. This remake is a no-brainer. And I’m very interested to see how they handle it all (story, characters, gameplay and RPG elements) with a modern sensibility.
Just slightly annoyed I gotta wait longer to experience it. But, if the PC version get released first (alongside PS5) I may just go with that.
I hate Sony.
Dear God, please don’t screw this up.
I don’t really know how this will work within the Disney canon’s more compressed timeline, nor how much of the story they’ll change, but I hope the vast majority of the changes are confined to gameplay and graphics. They’ve hired new writers, but I hope those writers tread lightly and keep the essence of the game intact. I don’t trust them to do that, but I hope they do.
My default primary emotion about upcoming Star Wars is dread. I hope my fears are misplaced and this turns out to be good.
It seems like they’re kind of being ambiguous about its canon status. Honestly, I kind of hope they do fit it in somehow, I’d rather them take a risk and make some changes rather than it being an exact copy of the original.
I know some people have wondered how it could be canon if rpgs by their nature let you choose your own story path, but I think it is easy enough to deal with if you accept that their is just a canon version of events, just like we accepted it back before the Disney acquisition. Also, I think future Star Wars storytelling could simply create frame stories that these games, novels, etc. are being told from, which allows some flexibility on the canonicity of certain story details. Does that make sense?
I made the joke before, but I now kinda want an HD remaster (or at the very least, a Steam/PSN/Xbox Live Arcade release) of Super Bombad Racing or even a new Star Wars-themed Mario Kart clone.
They should make a new SW themed racing game that takes itself seriously. As for this? I don’t know, is it a real remake or a new game on top of the original bones?
I’m a little disappointed Disney turned down Kotor Reforged. I’d rather have gotten something similar to Mass Effect Legendary edition, minus all the glitches.
Apparently, they’ve fired the remake’s art director and its design director. And development is being put on hold.
Yeah this is fucked. It probably won’t be cancelled, but I can see it being rushed for an early release at the expense of workers and the quality of the game.
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”
I just see development hell in its future and a disappointing release. Ah well, us PC people have the original ready to play and the Xbox folks can play the original on backwards compatibility. Idk much about the Switch ports.
