… or just play Battlefront II !

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

Superb stuff, that - and thanks for sharing 😃

Fair play to the people behind it - the look like they’ve really nailed that classic Star Wars vibe and feel.

Seems Disney - or rather ‘Lucasfilm Games’ - are hiring…

https://jobs.disneycareers.com/search-jobs?k=Gaming&alp=6252001&alt=2

Hopefully, possibly, some sort of sign they may be aiming to do more of their own in-house content for future Star Wars games?

According to a reddit thread the jobs seem to be more directed at the licensing side of things rather than in-house game development. So, they’re probably hiring more people to have better communication between Lucasfilm and EA studios, maybe.

I agree that many SW games are really not up to their own potential and that there has been a real dearth of any games recently after the demise of Lucas Arts. The best games are the ones that really capture the spirit of the films and try to break new ground in gaming.

My personal picks for the best home games are:
Dark Forces series, specifically Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast Jedi Academy
Rogue Squadron 1-3
Battlefront I and II 2004-2005

And though I’m not a fan of the style of game, KOTOR is really great. I never did play the sequel.

I never got to play past the demo of Republic Commando but it seems like another great game. I missed out Bounty Hunter and only played the Clone wars PS2 game at a friend’s house once. I also never played Super Bombad Racing, Racer Revenge and the Xbox exclusives but otherwise I’ve at least tried or beaten every SW console released game. I grew up with the Rebel Assaults on PC and have only recently gotten to play around with the X-wing series if I could get it going on my modern PC without hassles.

I tried the new Battlefront 1 when it was on sale on the PSN store for a few bucks but the load times were so insane I found the game unplayable. There are many saying that BF II is now much better but I don’t know if it’s something to try since I thought the fan boycott of EA over the lootbox issue was pretty justified.

The new BattlePod arcade machine is pretty interesting but doesn’t really take much skill. It’s really more of something to dazzle you with the graphics and booming chair speakers and since the design has an inverted screen it’s again more about the wow factor.

Ultimately the best Star Wars game ever made is still SW Trilogy Arcade which I still play at every opportunity and dream of one day owning. Finding a mint machine without problems or a jacked up joystick and then nailing all 15 secret options on a perfect run on one credit is still an absolute joy. Of course in 2019 all I ever find are busted up machines and thus I can’t get that perfect run and always miss one swing with Vader augh!

This post has now made me want to go and play all the SW games I haven’t yet.

I will say I did quite like the ROTS game despite the repetition because it was the first SW game in that style of gameplay that actually worked without any major problems. To me it was like Jedi Power Battles that was playable and worked.

Oh god, Jedi Power Battles…good lord now there’s a HARD game!

Star Wars X-Wing VR - WIP - Project Stardust’…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9ItglRHeac

'Screen capture from a VR experienced developed by Dylan Stout for Oculus Rift in Unity3D. The game is intended to be a remake of the 1983 ATARI Star Wars arcade game originally developed by Mike Hally. This game was later reimagined as a coin-op arcade game: now it is presented to you in full HD rendered goodness and fully custom 4K texturing.

Many credits go to 3D model artists at scifi3d for making the some of the models seen here freely available for me to modify and drop into the game engine. See end credits for a full list of artists and contributors.

The game was created for the purpose of research at the University of Utah during a study in virtual reality related motion sickness. The study details the way in which vection and self-movement is impacted by reference points in a 3D space. The first level is to allow a single reference point: the death star. The second level allows a planar reference point: the surface. The third level allows fully encompassing reference points: the trench & obstacles. The research study is ongoing and will publish soon.’

M2 and SEGA said in an interview they want to rerelease their Star Wars arcade games (including Trilogy Arcade) on the Switch. Sega’s Mickey Mouse games are being rereleased, so this is a possibility.

I have so much nostalgia playing The Phantom Menace video game. Such a fun game even though albeit challenging at times due to dodgy textures and never getting off of Naboo. I also loved Battlefront, Podracer, Revenge of the Sith, and some X-Wing and TIE Fighter aracade game I can’t remember the name of but would play at the mini golf course.

It reminds me of this gem of a review.

Fallen Order looks great.

I wish there were single player action games like this, but that followed the actual movies so we could play as favorite characters in familiar scenes. Right now the old Lego games are the only thing close to that.

I can’t believe we have this much Star Wars movie and TV content but so few Star Wars games.

The graphics look good but doesn’t feel like OT at all. The guy seems to be half Spider-Man/half tank and more powerful than Vader and Luke combained. Sigh.

To be honest I think the lack of games and the way it looks so generic are part of the same problem; nobody at EA wants to produce anything but safe bets. So it looks like bland Uncharted style platforming and whatever action combos are common now. Not that Lucasarts did a particularly great job near the end either I suppose… The Force Unleashed comes to mind.

I wholeheartedly agree here. I’m definitely not one to jump on the hatebandwagon, but god I cannot believe EA. While BF2 (2017) has recently gotten better, what has happened as a whole is just mind bogglingly below average…

The level of underachieving here would be like Hasbro only making two action figures, Uncle Owen and BB-8.

I think you mean Darth Vader and Han Solo. Anything else wouldn’t sell enough for the likes of these publishers.

They only announced those figures, but then cancelled them before release with no explanation.

How is there a new Lego Star Wars game? I thought only EA could make Star Wars video games under their deal?

Sweet news - a fun ‘pick up and play’ humorous Star Wars game encompassing all the films from the Main Saga… looking forward to that 😃
