Now I'm picturing George pitching his idea for AOTC of a Jedi in a wheelchair (or Star-Warsy surrogate) and his YesMen coming out of their wov of silence with a collective "Noooooo".

Here's what I personally find wrong with the Geonosis lightsaber scenes

1. The fighting style (I loathe Nick Gillard's overchoreographed ballet-styled swordplay)

2. The (mostly) homogenous appearance of their uniforms

3. The lack of variety in the colours of their lightsabers (I fully expected to see more colours and more shades of colours in regard to the Jedi's lightsabers going into the movie, and was completely disappointed when everyone but Windu showed up with only the same standard shade of blue and green)

Maybe Luke's Jedi Order (assuming it is a Jedi Order) won't use lightsabers as much as the prequel Jedi Order did.

I don't like the many colours of Lightsaber idea.

For me Republican Jedi (including Dooku and Windu) should have blue blades, Darths Vader and Maul should have red blades, Luke and the Jedi that spring from his teachings should have green.

Yoda and Palpatine don't need swords at all and only Palpatine can do the nifty lightning trick.

There should be a hint that the green blade of Luke is somehow not only a break with tradition but a mystical achievement (he had to think new life into the process of making his blade).

Green represents spring and rebirth so after the frosts of the decline of the Jedi and the fire of the Empire the green shoots of Luke's new Jedi Order should represent something.

If it's any colour of the rainbow Geonosis style battles just become a glowstick rave.

^Completely agree. Was going to say something similar. I wish the lightsaber colors actually meant something, but as the films stand now, the colors make practically no sense.

I'd say the battle of Geonosis is a glowstick rave as it is.

Even the stormtroopers had handlebar moustaches, it was so the most gay thing in space.

If it's scientifically possible to make lightsabers more than one color in the Star Wars universe, then it makes sense that different force users would have different personal preferences for their lightsaber color. Having just one "good guy" color and one "bad guy" color seems as outdated as the old westerns where all the good guys only wore white hats and the bad guys only wore black hats. If you were a badass gay Jedi like Mace Windu, would you let people dictate to you that your lightsaber is only allowed to be green? Hell no.

I also reiterate my earlier point that we should hope and pray that colorful lightsabers are the only problem with the new movies... we would be immensely fortunate if it turns out that way (which I don't think it will).

By the way, the gay overtones of the saga are also illustrated by a conversation Vader has with the emperor in Return of the Jedi.

Speaking of Luke, the dialogue goes like this:

Vader: "I have felt him, my master."

Emperor: "Strange that I have not. I wonder if your feelings on this matter are clear, Lord Vader?"

Vader: "They are clear, my master."

Oh boy.

Anyway, I meant the multiple colors in the PT doesn't make any sense because, if you could make your lightsaber any color, why would the colors be 50% blue and 50% green with one purple and nothing else? And why, then, would all the Sith have red? It makes more sense to me if the Jedi have a unified lightsaber color (blue) which would also compliment the fact that the Sith lightsabers are uniform as well.

All I ask is the following:

1. No fallen Jedi.

2. Don't make any effort to be consistent with the EU.

Well, that's a Snake River Canyon sized leap of logic! ;)

Where were you in '77?

I think we'll see antagonists inspired by the Yuuzhan Vong (doubtful it will be the Vong race itself). They match up to the zeitgeist.

1. New Jedi Order pioneered their gritty and brutal nature in the Star Wars universe and proved it can be effectively done. To the films, however, it will be new and fresh.

2. Religious extremism. I don't need to elaborate on that.

3. We're on a "creepy creature" invasion trend in films like these. Marvel's Avengers and Thor are great examples. Note: Marvel.

Dude!  Nice Evel Knievel reference!

I agree, by the way.  As much as we all have hopes for the tangents we want the next film to follow, I doubt anything from the past will be completely ignored.

I don't think they are going to worry about the EU, simply because the casual fan and most SW fans (including me) have never read any EU stuff so we don't know the difference.

In saying that, I expect to hear from the EU fans once the ST comes out, as I am sure they will be one of the biggest bashers of this trilogy for that reason alone.  It will be comparable to OOT fans like us bashing the SE.

I actually thought about all the battles on the internet that will probably be going on once the ST comes out:

OOT fans vs SE fans

OOT fans vs Saga 1-6 fans

Saga 1-6 fans vs Saga 1-9 fans

Saga 4-6.1-3 vs Saga 1-6

EU fans vs ST fans

Did I leave anyone out???   LOL!

Not sure what you're meaning there, I'm assuming it's Saga 4-9 vs. Saga 1-6. That's the only one I think you're missing.

I constantly see arguments on TFN of Saga fans who say to watch the OT then the PT, and then others say to watch the PT then the OT for a first time viewer.

And you're right, I forgot about:

Saga 4-9 (Don't like the PT)  vs Saga 1-6 (Only like Anakin's Story) vs Saga 1-9!

LOL!

Lucas is going to go back and have Jar Jar burp second when he is at the dinner table with Padme, Shmi, QuiGon and Kenobi, because he doesn't want him to be a cold-blooded slob!

Then all the TFN people will cry, "Jar Jar Burped First!" to the younger ST Fans!

Jeez, anyone who makes a first time viewer watch the PT then the OT should be eaten and then slowly digested over a thousand years.

TFN isn't originalsaga.com. On TFN, they embrace everything with the "Star Wars" brand.

I suppose TFN could merge with the Star Wars Prequel Appreciation Society or whatever. It's basically the same thing anyway.

I fell down that rabbit hole last year and discovered that blog considers TFN too moderate and disloyal. They're about a year away from sending suicide bombers to simon pegg's house. JJ and episode 7 are already on their shit list.

TFN keeps parroting "look at Marvel", "more Star Wars movies can only be a good thing", and "hating the ST is just like hating the PT (unless the reason for hating the ST is EU-related)". Prequel Appreciation Society (rightly) feels that TFN blindly loves anything with the "Star Wars" brand on it. TFN likes Dark Empire!
