I'm still waiting for the hair dryer thing Chewie's dad was using in the HS to be perfected, so I can watch the movies in my head. ;)

Think that device is only good for watching Wookiee porn (That a creepy old guy who runs the hardware store lent you) on...

^ btw To find that HS screengrab on a google search I had to see some images that will scar me for life lol

Is Abrams still going to direct Episode VII? Is he backing out like I heard a few weeks back?

Yes but it's increasingly the case that while your local multiplex will have both 3D and 2D. The 3D film willl be on at 12.00, 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, 5.00, 6.00, 7.00, 8.00 and 9.00pm. The 2D will be on once a day on a medium size screen at 9pm. It's a simple scam, if you make seeing the film at half price difficult enough then people will just give in and pay double. I've seen it happen recently with STID, Man Of Steel and Iron Man 3.

You must have some really crappy local theaters. The theaters here schedule based on demand and so both 2D and 3D start on equal footing only for the 3D to slowly whittle away while the 2D showings remain strong.

It sounds like your theater manager wants to squeeze out as much money as he can after paying for the 3D equipment.

Well, I am a Wookiee. And Art Carney isn't creepy, unless you fear plumbers. ;)

It's a rumor denied by Lucasfilm at this point in time.

Odd that JJ hasn't denied it personally or just popped his head up. Here's a hypothetical...

IF JJ has quit, who is the worst possible replacement? (Realistic answers please).

I'll start... Paul W. S. Anderson?

George Lucas...again

Or they could go with Raja Gosnell

Oh god Raja Gosnell's record is so bad. If I see the trailer for Smurfs 2 one more time at the front of a YouTube clip I'm gonna lose it.

But the possibility of Lucas coming back is a genuienly scary possibility. Like when Jackson took back The Hobbit after Guillermo Del Toro had to leave (btw I'm glad Jackson is in charge).

They were talking about this on Rebel Force Radio, and how with the hype Disney gave to JJ, if he backed out, they would need a name as big or bigger than him, and they offered George Lucas and Steven Spielberg as the only two names who could really work. I can't say I disagree. It would be a PR disaster for Episode VII if they lost JJ at this point. I don't think Disney can really afford any bad PR on Episode VII. They gotta top the prequels minimum. Mess it up, and their Star Wars machine won't be nearly as strong as it could be.

Also, it would be embarrassing for Kennedy.  Ep VII is her first major job as CEO of Lucasfilm and she practically begged Abrams to take on the role, even though he initially turned it down.

I'd love to see Guillermo del Toro's take if JJ backed out.

My local Cineworld, here in the good 'ol U.K favors 3D screenings over 2D.

As stated before, sometimes there are a mass of 3D screenings and the only 2D screen may be later in the day or first thing in the morning. I had to see Dredd in 3D because it was the only option. Same with Underworld Awakening. There was simply no other choice. I think there may have been only one screening of Dredd 3D and no choice other than 3D for Underworld. When The Hobbit went on my Cineworld website for advance booking, there were only 3D showings available. A look around other towns had the Odeon with 50/50 showings and even the local hall, which is not even a real cinema had a few 2D showings. I complained to Cineworld that they were money grabbers and could not care less about the public and I and others shall be taking ourselves elsewhere. After booking elsewhere, Cineworld then added some 2D showings to the advance booking information and sent me a snotty email telling me I was wrong about the 2D showings as there were now plenty. I sent an email back telling them to check there records as that only a few days before, and for the past week they were only offering 3D showings for advance booking. I hate Cineworld and I am always complaining about them but it is my local cinema. I should not have to travel elsewhere for options of how I want to see a film. Bah !

I don't know. I was glad that Jackson got The Hobbit back. I think Del Toro is such a visualy unique Director that he wouldn't be able to constrain his imagination to something that fitted in with the rest of the saga. On one hand I'd find it hard to believe that his SW trilogy wouldn't be amazing on it's own. But I have a feeling it would disconnect stylisticly from the OT (In the same way the look of the PT did).

Bet he would create some amazing worlds to visit. Just think how he might make say the Mon Calamari homeworld look. A mysterious water world but with giant shipyards oooohh

With all those other SW movies Disney wants to make, I imagine they will be offered to some of those people they couldn't get, or didn't want the job.

Nobody wants to be the guy who screwed up Star Wars. Most people won't recall who made John Carter, but make a bad Star Wars sequel, and even M. Night Shyamalan won't want to be seen in public with you.

Once the sequel is out, and hopefully it's good, more directors will want to play in George's sandbox without the heavy burden of reigniting the franchise.

Something interesting from starwars.com...

Star Wars Celebration 2015 will be held in Anaheim, California, from April 16-19, 2015.  Timed with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII, this promises to be a Star Wars Celebration like no other.

I think the thing to take away from that announcement is that Ep VII is due for release some time between April 16-19, 2015.

Too early to tell where the big premiere will actually be held. Disney might even want to screen it inside Disneyland, like they did for some of the POTC movies.

I'm french and so not english expert but by "timed with the released of EP7" I guess they just wanted to say that the event will take place few weeks just before the release of EP7. I of course could be wrong, but a May release is to be expected.

You really think Disney wants Episode VII and Avengers: Age of Ultron to go up against each other? I don't think it's out of the question, but that seems like the kind of thing Disney would avoid.

To me, 'timed with the release' means 'at or around the same time'.  If the Celebration is scheduled before the release of the movie, I'm sure they would have said something like 'immediately preceeding' or 'leading up to' instead.

Both movies will be huge blockbusters and will be showing for several weeks.  With Avengers 2 scheduled for May 2015, a slight overlap is inevitable.

But if they release Ep VII in April, at least it will be on its own for a few weeks before the A2 release.

Edit:  Just checked the dates.  A2 is out on May 1.  If Ep VII comes out on April 17, it will have a 2 week head start.  Still seems quite close to me, but it's got to be better than having both out in the same month.

Nope, no way they release it in April.  May has traditionally kicked off the summer blockbuster season and Disney will certainly want to release it during one of the peak box office revenue periods.

Also the new Avengers logo released at comic con just said "Summer 2015" so they may push that back for a May release of ep VII like they originally said they were shooting for.  Or they could release one on May 1st and the other at the end of May.

Take it for granted Avengers (yawn) will be out before Episode VII
