I still say I want Stanley Kubrick to direct.
Facts:
I still say I want Stanley Kubrick to direct.
With such a tight deadline, I would imagine that the ST will be more CG-light than the PT. That can only be a good thing.
Spoiler free for the ST
Speculation!
I doubt Harrison Ford is interested, unless he dies in the first scene. I doubt they'd have anything for Carrie Fischer to do. But I could certainly see Mark Hammil as a wise, old Luke Skywalker. Chewie's a possibility, and the droids seem certain.
I have no idea what the plot will be. Certainly not what they've come up with over at The Virtual Edition.

He's only had 13 years to prepare since his last film. Probably not enough time.
So they are going to use Han Luke and Leia? I really hope not.
looking for HDTV of the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy
Maybe Hayden's ghost appears to apologize to Luke and Leia like in one of the books.
Picture it, edited together from ROTS outtakes. Hayden looks off to one side, laughs, and says, "I'm sorry!"
MASSIVE NEWS! Must say, I'v become very jaded with star wars and my interest is zero basically, but im now quite excited again :)
Also this means we might see a re-release of the Blu-Ray but with the original-original films!
Director: Steven Spielberg
Composer: John Williams
Starring: Russell Crowe, Mel Gibson, Johnny Depp, Mark Hamill, and Ian McDiarmid
*Filmed on practical locations, shot on film*
I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't. Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.

Wasn't he killed in ROTJ?
The seventh movie, with a working title of "Episode 7," is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow. The trilogy will continue the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond "Return of the Jedi," the third film released and the sixth in the saga. After that, Disney plans a new "Star Wars" movie every two or three years. Lucas will serve as creative consultant in the new movies.
...
Disney CEO Bob Iger said Lucasfilm had already developed an extensive story line on the next trilogy, and Episode 7 was now in early-stage development.

He came back;)
Or wait, maybe it is his evil twin clone or something that must be destroyed. Yes! During the Clone Wars, Palpatine cloned HIMSELF.
The Empire is NOT dead.
That's where I see this going...

Star Wars Episode VII - The Curse Of The Black Hole
Johnny Depp - Captain Jack Mynock
Sylvester Stallone - John Ronto
Arnold Schwarzenegger - Ronan the Toydarian
George Lucas - Jabba the hutt
And Creepy Puppet Yoda as himself

I am pretty much afraid that you might be right. Maybe something good comes of this.

Now that I would be happy to pay money for.
Please, please just don't make me have to endure another Hayden Christiansen force ghost in EP VII.
“In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.” - George Lucas

That's the main character. Don't you know about Walt's vision... I mean George's vision?
Can't Bob Costas play Luke? Saw him recently on TV and thought that's how Luke should look nowadays...granted his speech is all off and he's not an actor...
The blue elephant in the room.
Episode 7-9: Luke chooses the dark side and HIS son must save him.
I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't. Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.
Episode 10-12. Luke's son turns to the dark side. His grandson must turn him back.

Episode 13-15: Luke's grandson's nephew turns to the dark side. His wife realizes that they are cousins 5 times removed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I would love to see the whole idea of slavery in the Star Wars galaxy actually addressed in the New Republic.
It was tolerated outside the Old Republic and inside the Empire, the Clones were genetically engineered slaves and the droids (shown to be sentient to varying degrees) are also slaves.
I hope they keep the Stormtroopers as clones and have a plot where what to do with them is a major feature.
Surely the heroes of the OT wouldn't exterminate them for obeying orders they were genetically programmed to obey? Technically these are victims of the war as much as anyone else.
But wouldn't their victims want revenge?
I also suspect Leia is very open to the temptations of the Dark Side which would be another riff on Dune where her near namesake suffered the same fate.
I wouldn't have Palpatine in it as a living character but he could return as recorded footage or a nasty force ghost and manipulate living people as a twist on what Ben did in the OT.
Luke would make a good sith now that he is older.
I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't. Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.
Nah
Terrible idea: Hayden Christensen as the ghost of Anakin Skywalker
I'm imagining they will do something similar to Tron Legacy, with a new character/group of characters rediscovering certain OT characters, places and principals.
A disenchanted Luke being the Master, and coming out of 'retirement' in a seemingly peaceful new republic would be a good starting point. A New New Hope.
