Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Extended Edition (Released)

This is a V2 of my Extended Edition of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The following scenes are reintegrated into the movie:

-A Stirring in the Senate (Bail’s Office)
-Seeds of Rebellion (Padme’s Apartment)
-Confronting the Chancellor (Palpatine’s Office)
-Yoda’s communion with Qui-Gon (using audio from the Clone Wars courtesy of Hal9000)
-Exiled to Dagobah

I didn’t want to reinsert any scenes that had unfinished effects or repeated dialogue that already appears in the film, so the following scenes are NOT included:

-Grevious Slaughters a Jedi: Escape from the General
-A Plot to Destroy the Jedi?
-any Blu-Ray deleted scenes

Here are the changes from V1:
-The deleted scene in Bail’s Office is moved up by one scene and features new “sunset” color correction to better blend with the surrounding scenes (courtesy of Hal9000)
-The deleted scene in Palpatine’s Office is moved until after Obi-Wan touches down on Utapau, allowing for a less jarring transition.
-There is only a single audio track in this version. Yoda’s communion with Qui-Gon is included but I kept the original Vader scream since this is an Extended Edition and not a fanfix.
-Yoda’s exile to Dagobah is moved up by one scene, before Padme’s funeral. This allows for the original ending and it’s music to play out uninterrupted. (transition courtesy of Siliconmaster482)

Interesting project for the ones who like the theatrical cut and only wish to get (good) extra material. Thanks !

What other edit are you going to do ?

Interesting. Much like what I was planning. You may have just saved me some work.

I assume he was going to complete the trilogy of his conservative fanedits that are in essence combinations of other fanedits with some original cuts. His first two were very enjoyable so I hope so.

You are correct!

-A Plot to Destroy the Jedi?

I agree there is a repetitive aspect to this scene with the “situation room during Grievous meeting with Obi” scene, but there is also a more layered concern about Palpatine. This scene, placed after the - long - overture was very good to set the mood of an uprising coup d’état from Palpatine. I think you should have inserted it (but I assume you’ll do that for your “real” edit of Episode III).

Yeah, I like this scene too, but I felt that with the war room scene unedited, it didn’t really work, and since this is supposed to be purely an extended edition, I didn’t want to do that. It will probably be in my full fan edit of episode III.

I’m hoping in your fanedit you pick to keep either the deleted scene (Plot to Destroy the Jedi) or the war room theatrical scene. Either one or the other because in L8wtrs he keeps both and the repetitive dialogue is so obvious that I feel it really detracts from the experience whereas in Hal’s he inserted the deleted scene and removed the war room scene which did not have any issues of repetitive dialogue and it improved upon the theatrical. Not saying if you should include the deleted scene over the war room scene but I think it would be best to decide on which one to keep rather than doing both.

Sorry for being off topic from the thread but wanted to throw in my 2 cents 😃

Keeping the Yoda scene and the war room can only be done by removing the end of the scene (which could actually work fine).

@Octorox, your edit is going to use Yoda vs Sidious I guess ? Having rewatched it today, there is definitely some (very) good stuff in it (visually it’s still stunning). In fact only the very beginning - “not if anything to say I have” - and the crazy laugh at the end are problematic… making the assumption you don’t have an issue with Yoda fighting with a saber, of course ! (Yoda going McClane in the pipe is still embarrassing though…)

I’ve made an alternate version of this that also includes Hal9000’s revised ending from his Labyrinth of Evil edit in which Padme survives, plugging an infamous plot hole.

The alternate ending includes the following changes:
-a scene of Yoda communicating with the departed Qui-Gon Jinn is restored using audio from The Clone Wars
-Faneditor Hal9000’s own voice replaces that of the medical droid. His prognosis is not that Padme is dying, but rather that she will survive without ever fully recovering.
-Replaced Vader’s scream with the Russian dub, arguably making it a little less cheesy.
-Courtesy of Hundsdorfex, replaced shot of Tantive IV descending toward Naboo with the ship streaking through space.
-Trimmed dialogue aboard the Tantive IV to accommodate the idea that Padmé survives to travel to Alderaan with Leia.
-Replaced Padme’s funeral with the deleted scene of Yoda arriving on Dagobah.
-Padme is seen cradling an infant Leia on Alderaan, using footage from The Other Boleyn Girl, with her eye color corrected by Hundsdorfex. (Idea by ‘The Cutter,’ also used in Q2’s edit.)

The idea is great. Would you consider to release this version fully uncompressed ?

Good luck with your EpIII edit (I’ll certainly give it a watch since your edits of I and II were very good - albeit not my favorite versions… but close, very close 😉)

Ha, it’s the inverse of what people usually ask me for: ‘Labyrinth Of Evil’ but with the original ‘Padme dies’ ending. 😃

My stance on revising fan edits.

I have watched both of your Extended Edition edits tonight. I’ve been looking for a true Extended Edition in HD for a long time and even failed at creating one myself, so well done.

Both edits are really well done, but I would like to give some feedback:

You have placed the Exiled to Dagobah scene in-between Padme’s Funeral and Palpatine & Vader overseeing the Death Star’s construction. This in my opinion ruins the pacing of the film and really damages the flow music between the two destroying the power of the score.
Having looked at it you could have placed it after the scene where Captain Antilles is told to wipe C-3P0’s mind. I feel that it would have been a better place to put it in. In your Alternate Ending edit it worked because there was no funeral scene, but this does not work in the main edit sorry.

The Seeds of Rebellion (Padme’s Apartment) scene ends so jarringly that it just feels out of place. I’ve shown it to others in my household and they agree with me. It has to do with the music just starting abrupt in the next scene.
Is there any way to make the music in the scene bridge into the Anakin & Obi-Wan Farewell scene or even adding fitting music to help create a sound bridge?

Other than the problems I pointed out I feel you’ve made a good job of the edit.

In your Alternate Ending Edit I liked the addition of Qui-Gon’s voice from The Clone Wars (A show I enjoy) and the use of the Russian scream which I have seen about used in other edits and is quite popular.

Good luck on any future Fan Edits you’re planning on making in the Future. 😃

Neither of those scenes are included because they both have unfinished FX.

I think with some clever editing the grevous one could be included if you just cut a few of the unfinished shots. Most of it looks pretty good.

The anakin one you can include you just need to green screen some stuff

The unfinished “Amendments to the constitution / Palpatine’s Machinations” scene is actually usable now that these guys showed how it could be edited.

Maybe even darkening the shadows would help.

Oh brillant scene it is ! Does it exist in better quality that could match the other deleted sequences (it’s from the bluray set, so might be ?) ? If so I would love to see it integrated in an extended cut 😃

I like that scene as well. The quality is okay. The main thing that keeps me from using it is that the masking of actors in front of the Coruscant skyline is really atrocious. I did include a scene in my Episode II edit with some poor masking but this is even worse imo.

I feel like you could probably find away to cut around the offending aspects. What you’d need though is the scene to be upscaled like the DVD ones.

It’s been a little more than half a year lol, how do I get the link to download? I’m dying to see it with the deleted scenes.
