Hello i am new to the forums but i have been watching fan edits for a few years now. And as i do editing work at home and i am taking a Media course at college i decided to have a shot at making my own fan edit.

As the title says it is a edit of Revenge of the sith. My edit is called Fall and Rise, fall meaning the fall of the republic the Jedi and Anakin. Rise meaning the Rise of the Empire and Darth Vader.

The final edit has yet to be started all i have are clips that are rough and incomplete basically to give an idea of how my edit would be i’m looking for feedback right now/

Patience my friend, in time they will seek you out.

I've been very busy and my laptop is ancient and it's nightime so watching your clips isn't easy at them moment.

I still haven't seen Ady's last clip and I've been following his edits since I signed up here.

I would recommend encoding your clips in something other than .wmv my laptop in it's current incarnation doesn't play them and I haven't had WMP for well over a decade now.

I'm downloading your clips right now, I'll watch them all soon.  You got some good ideas from what I see in the cutlists.  Just curious, What programs are you using to do this edit?

Sony Vegas pro 8, I'm quite good with it.

Dude, I spent almost 18 months on my last edit and got something like four reviews.  You can't force interest.

Oh, well, I should really write a review then, it was really a great edit.  Don't feel underappreciated!

I downloaded the Birth of Vader clip, but to be honest I couldn't get past the video quality. A 170meg clip that's under 3 minutes in length shouldn't look that bad. What software do you use to edit, and what did you use to convert it to WMV?

I suspect, given the size of the file, that you rendered it out in WMV. If you use Vegas to edit, I suggest that you render as an MPEG4 with Mainconcept AVC, which will produce a huge file, roughly 50 gigs for a full movie. If you have a huge amount of hard drive space you could even render it as an AVI with the Lagarith codec (a lossless codec), but the file will be 100 gigs or so. Then use either Vidcoder or MeGUI to convert it down to a manageable sized MP4 or MKV.

Also, make sure you match the specs of the output to the input. Going by memory I think your video was 1440x1000. That doesn't make sense to me. If it's from DVD it will probably be 720x480, or blu-ray 1920x1080 or 1280x720. Lastly, make certain the frame rate of your render matches the input frame rate - that's absolutely vital.

Please don't be dispirited by this post. We were all newbies once (some of us still are) :)
