Thanks for taking the time to see it and give your thoughts. The project is very much finished and settled on my end, but perhaps one of the people who are doing edits based on mine will use your ideas. I could go on with this forever, but I’m holding to my statement that V4 is the final form (4.1 being a bugfix with no creative changes), and has had a sufficient incubation period.

Thanks again for the effort and hard work in making this trilogy watchable. Will v4.1 be on fanedit or the spleen?

Is that a Chevy '69? How bizarre.
It’s on the spleen and has been submitted to .info.

Yeah, the one69chev was a fine car, but had to go once the kiddies arrived. Thank you for the info; I am on spleen, but need an invite to proceed, so if someone would be so kind, it would be much appreciated.

By the way Hal, are you still planning to release a v4.2 of II-TAS using a regraded bluray video stream or has your project died with the “day-for-night” sequence issue ?

I am not planning on it, but I’d remail open to it if a regrade project that knocks my socks off comes along. I doubt I’d do it just for that one scene. That’s why I used the same video stream as V4 for V4.1, because it didn’t have so much pixelation during that scene.

For TAS, the only differences are the fixed audio and inclusion of subtitles.
Every prior release had a weird audio problem where the left and right channels were identical. Since I didn’t want the final product presented to end users to be “here’s instructions on how to mux things,” I had to do a V4.1.

Sounds good! Thanks for the update 😃

Is there an german dub available ???

I love Ghost Dog 😃

The only PT fan edit I’ve seen so far with a dub track is Q2’s Episode I (french dub). But Hal’s versions come with subtitles; if you speak german it would be quite easy (and not that time-consuming) to produce german subs out of them (the time-pattern being already done, you would only have to translate around 900 lines per film). If you want to do so let me now I can send you the french and english srt files. My german is not good enough to do them (and I’m currently working on TESB new french subtitles) but it would be very cool if you could contribute !

(by the way DominicCobb, if you keep a strict log of your changes - in number of frames - it would be very easy to readapt TAS subtitles to your cut; only the extra dialogues would require some work. I would be interested in having a slighty alternate cut of Hal’s version with the droid factory sequence in my archives 😃)

About the bluray picture quality: has anyone watched kk650 regraded version ? I’m usually not a fan of his regraded versions which are too yellow to my taste, but he seems to have nailed AOTC.

I agree with your distaste of his colors for the most part but Iv gotta say…his AOTC regrade looks amazing.

There’s are two momens that I wish were removed from this amazing edit. Cordé saying sorry to Padme before she died, she was supposed to die if they were attacked. The other is Padme’s line,“You’ll always be that little boy I knew from Tatooine.” Who talks that way?

Learn Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas and make these slight adjustments and you’ll have your perfect version.

First off, thanks for the kind words about the edit. I’m glad you enjoyed them.

I think the lines, “You’ll always be that little boy I met on Tatooine,” “Don’t try to grow up too fast,” and, “But I am grown up…” form a nice little Act 1 arc for the romance plot. (You can thank Slumberland for that.)

EDIT: Well, I suppose those lines are all there originally! But, Slumberland crafted his edit so that overcoming that obstacle in Padme’s mind, that Anakin is just a little kid, was the prime task of the romance plot at that point.

If there was one more scene I’d want to be edited out it would be the senate scene after the assasination attempt on Senator Amadala, Natalie’s acting is just terrible.

I originally didn’t love that scene but I’ve grown to appreciate it. In the theatrical version, the fact that Padme is a senator and the leader of the opposition is constantly referenced but we never actually get to see that demonstrated in any way. The senate scene gives her character a bit more strength and establishes the political landscape nicely, and so I chose to leave it in my edit as well.

Agreed with Hal on the other lines as well. They’re certainly stilted but they establish a sense of progression that is missing in edits like l8wrtr’s that (in my opinion) overcut those scenes.

There’s continuity establishing error. After the assasination attempt on Senator Amadala, leading into the next sequence there’s an establishing shot for the senate session sequence, but it’s not of the Senate building. It’s the Republic Executive Building.
