Boonta Eve originated on Droids?

Yes mate 😃

General Grievous’ ‘wheel bike’ also first appeared on Droids, I think Bogden (the swamp planet) was first mentioned in Droids - and the Baobab family too (also mentioned later in the Prequels?)

‘Kybo Ren’ too.

Quite disturbing the useless information that stays in the mind - yet the more important stuff… no chance!

So happy to see this!

Is this the first time that the first story (The White Witch saga) has been commercially available?

Definitely been up and available on youtube 😉 I think it may have been on released on VHS - but not on the DVD releases?

the ugnaught, Video Collector, or pittrek would likely know for sure (they’ve all done preservations for Droids previously).

The Fromm series and the Kybo Ren series were released here on rental VHS.

I heard about that just earlier today. It’s a strange, but nice little reference in TPM.

There’s actually quite a few references to Droids in the prequel films;

FROM BOONTA TO BAOBAB: DROIDS AND THE STAR WARS PREQUELS

The Boonta Eve is the most blatant reference (by Lucas presumably), while the rest seems to mostly be the concept artists on the PT either intentionally or unintentionally borrowing ideas from the cartoon.

About to dive into Star Wars: Droids for the first time. I’m really interested in seeing what the exploration of the pre-ANH era was in 1985!

I’ll probably send any thoughts I have into here each time I watch an episode. The shows I grew up with were The Clone Wars and Rebels, and I thought some of you long time Droids fans might appreciate seeing what a first time viewer thinks of this bit of early Star Wars tv.

Forgot to say I enjoyed the first episode well enough! Not the most memorable character names but all the main characters are likeable. I love new wave music so of course I’m digging the soundtrack and there were a bunch of genuinely really funny moments.

Oh and yes the intro song is stuck in my head.

I really love the Droids score. Of course it has nostalgic feelings for me but still, it captures a lurking and eery danger very well. I’ve always seen the series dubbed, only a few times in its original English and I’m watching it now again. I have to say I prefer the dubbed version. It was dubbed in the 90s so it had some cool teen lingo which made even Tig and Jord actually cool characters. In English Jord is just dumb and simple and Tig lacks any personality. And yes, it has some funny jokes that are long gone from the franchise.

IIRC, it was the same composer who worked on the score for Nelvana’s Rock and Rule. (Which sadly has never had an album release of the score or the songs.) There’s a villain later in the series who bears a passing resemblance to R&R’s main antagonist, Mok.

I posted this yesterday in the wrong (preservation) thread. This would be a proper place for it.

Having just watched the whole series, it seems to be untouched otherwise except for the last regular episode. They have digitally altered the colors on the droid mirror. I made post about this on the SWT forum with pics.
