Ah, okeyy, didn´t know. Thanks you 😃

No problem, happy to help. Though, older versions of Windows, like XP, may not format the USB key to NTFS the first time. If that’s the case, try formatting it again. Also, it’s better to do a FULL FORMAT.

Kinda new to this stuff, but got the BD50GB ISO files downloaded on an external hard drive.

Won’t play on VLC media player, any idea what to do to watch the files before I burn them to blu ray discs?

I had exactly the same issue: although Harmy’s mkv files play fine in VLC, I can’t get NJVC’s iso files to play the main movie in VLC. (All of his extras seem to work, however.)

Fortunately, my stand-alone Bluray player worked fine with the iso files burned to BR-DL discs. Well, nearly fine… It didn’t like the default audio track for some reason. The picture was a little jerky (looked like a frame skip about once every second or two) until I tried another audio track at which point all was fine.

You can also use Daemon Tools to mount the ISO which will make it act like a BluRay disc. Then you can run a DVD/Bluray player application on your computer to test out the menu and features.

Finally got the time to sit down and watch my Blu-ray discs of this back to back today. An enormous thanks to both Harmy, NJVC, and the loads of others that collaborated on Despecialized. There aren’t enough positive words one can say for the work put into this project. =]

Just got these sent to me by a very kind twitter follower and I absolutely love them. Thanks so much for including my filmumentaries both long and short!

Great work!

Thank you! Daemon didn’t work so well for me, but it did lead me down a rabbit trail where I found “Leawo”, this bluray player software that is free and seems to work well.

No problem. That’s unfortunate that Daemon didn’t work for you, but atleast you found something that works for you.

I could’t get Leawo to play nicely with menus - does yours work? I had to go pick titles manually and hoped I pick the right title track.

Yeah Leawo doesn’t work. I think it’s the specific way NJVC makes the menus that don’t work with Leavo. Because it’s not just these Blu rays but also the fan edit he made as the bonus disk for Empire.
You can watch all the videos if you press the playlist button.
Power DVD is a software that works if it’s super Important that you have the menus

Hmm not sure why that would be. But I’m guessing it’s yet another quirk of Adobe Encore. I use powerdvd, it plays them fine.

Thank you Dahmage, great to hear.

This is the set I recommend to all my friends, I absolutely love your work. 😃 any chance that when Despecialized 3.0 comes out, you may add an option to choose the '77 or '81 crawl for ANH?

Encore doesn’t do seamless branching, so someone with a better program may have to step in and help there.

As far as I know, the Encore menus are not compatible with the other ways of producing seamless branching. So the menus and discs would essentially need to be recreated (to match) in other software. Not impossible, but not at all trivial.

I had no idea Encore doesn’t do seamless branching. Good to know, since I’ve used it a few times when making some home movies on DVD.

But if there’s enough call for it, an alternative disc with the 81 crawl version is doable.

I personally do not see the appeal of a 81 crawl. In my humble opinion the entire point of the Despecialized Editions is to see the films as close as possible to how they appeared first in the theaters.

That’s definitely the whole point. But a lot of people in the community like to see (both Star Wars and other) films the way they remember them. For people who prefer the SE because they grew up with it, this probably isn’t the right community, but 1981 to 1996 is a huge period of time that a lot of people became fans during. So, some nostalgia is perhaps to be expected. Others perhaps like the consistency with the other 6 films. But the revisionism is undeniable, and definitely opposed to the main goal of DeSP.

njvc: I hope that when ESB 2.5 comes about, you’ll have an updated release. 😃 Although I’ve had success with the multiavchd video stream replacement method in the past (I might have even told you about it?), I can’t seem to get it to work with your discs. 😃
