I would love to get a copy of this, as well. Thanks for taking the time to do this, njvc!

I really like A_New_Hope’s suggestion of having a BD25 for each despecialized movie with the best video and audio quality as well as all the subtitles available and then have secondary discs for the bonus material.

The improved image quality and the easier updating process would certainly favor this option, and I also feel like this is the better option for a Despecialized Blu-ray release. Don’t get me wrong, I like your choice of special features but I don’t think they’re necessary for a blu-ray set like this, except for the “documentary” about the Despecialized sources and maybe a trailer collection and I’d rather use the extra space for better video quality and more audio options.

I agree that video quality is more important than bonus features.

I haven’t looked at all the discs yet, but I think the solution should depends on how much space the bonus material takes up. If it could be 3x feature BD25s and 1x bonus disc, that sounds good to me. If it would be 3x bonus discs, I think it would be a much better decision to use 3x BD50s than have a 6-disc set.

Yeah if I were you I would consider a bonus disc. The film itself takes up so much space and even with just the film, nothing else, at BD25, you’re already most likely sacrificing some quality, so you’ll want as much space as possible.

Were you able to get the dts audio working with encore? I’m curious how you got around that since you seem to be foreign to the multiAVCHD process. This has been the biggest hurdle with my BD project.

No, I’d just committed to learning how to use multiAVCHD in the hope of swapping in the DTS. Much to learn, I still have.

And at this stage i still favor film and extras on one epic 50gb disk. I can’t include all the audio and subtitles from the MKV as that would not work with Encore’s structure so this will always be a companion to the official MKV. Thus, there should be plenty of room for special features on my 50gb disk.

But as others have said, video and audio quality of the films is the priority here.

It seems that I’m interested. Count me in on this.

Ok, so great news.

Thank you SO much to those of you who suggested using multiAVCHD. I’ve had a play around with the program, and was able to remux my blurays, replacing the video stream with Harmy’s original .h264 video, and the DTS audio tracks which Encore would not let me import.

What’s even better is that I’ve been able to add 32 subtitle tracks, and additional audio tracks as well. The menus will still only be able to link directly to 8 audio tracks (thanks for Encore’s limitations), but there will be more included on the disk, which I will index in a document to be released with the next version of the bluray set.

I am extremely grateful to the community for all the positive feedback and helpful advice. Version 2 of this set will be available as soon as possible, I’ll keep you updated.

Nice! i commend you for your efforts, and for your willingness to take our feedback!

I think multiAVCHD can also be used to replace srt subtitle tracks with .sup, since the latter will not work with encore.

So with these new found powers, my current thinking is this. I’ll release 3 versions of each film.

  1. The Official release (BD25)
  • Will include as many audio/subtitle options as possible from Harmy’s official MKV release.
  • No special features (as disk will be filled with audio options.)
  1. The special features release (BD25)
  • Similar to my v.1, this bluray will include all of the special features previously listed, but will now include Harmy’s original video and DTS audio tracks for better picture/audio quality.
  • Will also include 32 subtitle tracks.
  1. The deluxe release (BD50)
  • Will include all of the official release audio/subtitles, and as many extra special features as possible to fit on a dual layer disk.

Maybe it would make sense to do 1 and 3. And then an optional special features disc for people who went with option 1 because they have issues with BD50s.

edit: I think I was confused about the difference between options 1 and 2. The non-DTS audio tracks, though numerous, are quite small. I would just have a BD25 with audio/video that is the untranscoded version from 2.7, and maybe a second BD25 with special features. As another option, a BD50 that combines it all together.

Good point.

My thinking with option 2 is for people who don’t mind giving up multiple language audio options in exchange for a host of special features. But if option 2 just becomes a dedicated special features disk, it can include much more great content, and then the 50gb can be the best of both worlds. I think that’s the way to go.

I like this idea the best. Seems like the best of both worlds. Thanks for your awesome work.

Hardcore for #3, please. Keeping the video and audio quality of DeEd 2.5 or 2.7 100% intact, and using the additional real estate to fill in the extras, on a single disc. This is where my vote goes, if it counted for anything.

I have dual layer BD’s itching for it.

WIll you be putting these on MySpleen? If so, what will you call them so I can easily find them?

I think the current ones are up as “njvc presents Harmy etc”, so this will be the same, but with BD50 in the title.

I recommend just adding RSS feed for their Star Wars section to your browser. Just as a general tip, to not miss stuff like this.

What about doing 2 BD25s? One disc would have only the movie and the other one all the bonus stuff?

Author

Ah, yes, I see them. Looking forward to the BD50 versions!

Any thoughts on using the color corrected A New Hope 2.7 instead of the base Harmy 2.5?

He is using 2.7 as it clearly states in the description

ARG! I was trying to figure out how to explain how I missed that and, well, the only thing I could come up with is I’m a doofus! 😃
