Hello there, I just wanted to ask, what exactly is MySpleen? And why is it required for this site? I am really new to this forum (like, I signed up today-new) and have no idea what I have to do. Could someone please explain it to me? Thanks in advance!

Google is a mystery to me as well.

I stumbled upon the Despecialized Editions yesterday after some inquisitive Googling. My husband and I had just watched a couple of docs on Netflix about behind the scenes of Star Wars and he was bemoaning the fact that he could no longer watch the Star Wars movies that he had watched as a kid (he remembers going to the theater two days in a row with his godfather when he was six to see the Empire Strikes Back). I, myself, have never seen the unedited versions.

We are both absolutely blown away by the dedication, passion, and creativity of those who are involved with restoring these films. The work you all have done is absolutely mind-blowing and I cannot thank you enough.

I’m currently downloading the MKV files, but would absolutely love to get access to this BlueRay set so I can put together a box set to give to my husband for his birthday. If someone would let me know how to go about doing that, I would be extremely grateful!

Contact me via PM if you want to talk about getting the set.

You’ve walked into an echo chamber. Expect snarky one-liners and no form of any reasonable answer.

I am realizing that now.
Problem is, in germany there is some weird blog-site called myspleen, so the only results I am getting are weird blogposts.

When we get new users, its hard to know who knows what.

Generally its best to spend some time getting to know what this site is about, before posting. I still consider myself a new user here.

This site is about news and discussions regarding the original trilogy, and also is about preserving the original trilogy. In all cases, piracy is not allowed. You need to own the equivalent retail release of anything you are thinking of getting in fanedit or preservation form. In this instance, that would be the Blu-Ray release, since most of what Harmy used in creating despecialized is from the Blu-Ray. (and njvc used Harmy’s Despecialized in creating this blu-ray set)

Thats kinda sad, considering I only have VHS recordings of the trilogiy from free TV. Well, guess I will buy the Blu-Ray

I have the BluRay complete set as well as positive seed ratios from other trackers. Also have read Harmy uses more sources than just the BluRay or is that false?

I have the BluRay complete set as well as positive seed ratios from other trackers. Also have read Harmy uses more sources than just the BluRay or is that false?

These are the sources listed as of Star Wars v2.7

VIDEO SOURCES:

  1. STAR WARS Episode IV A New Hope Official Blu-Ray 2011 (Preliminary colour correction by You_Too)

  2. STAR WARS 2006 Bonus DVD (sourced from the 1993 Definitive Edition Laser Disc Master - upscales by Dark Jedi, You_Too and Harmy)

  3. Star.Wars.Episode.IV.A.New.Hope.1977.720p.HDTV.x264-DON (2004 DVD Version)

  4. STAR WARS 1997 Special Edition (Reivax DTV capture)

  5. Custom mattes, 35mm and 70mm film cell scans etc.

  6. Team Negative1 35mm “Silver Screen Edition” LPP print scan

  7. Puggo Grande (1977 16mm print transfer)

I thought I recognized your foul stench when I entered this forum!

Thank you. I don’t know why you’re morally obligated to own the Blu-Ray when it uses six other sources on top of that.

Once again, I own the blu-ray box set but I’m not going to pretend that prevents it from being piracy. Unless you own all seven sources in the Despecialized version please step down from your pedestal.

It’s the currently available retail version. When you buy it, Disney/Fox gets their cut, and George gets to buy the bigger jacuzzi. Everybody goes home happy. Nobody seriously expects anyone to own a film print used in a preservation.

You’ve walked into an echo chamber. Expect snarky one-liners and no form of any reasonable answer.

It’s also two days after a major holiday. Expect some people to still be recovering from that, or actually spending time away from here with family.

A new member posted a genuine question and instead of getting an answer he was mocked. Just as I was in a different thread.

Ok, if you don’t care about the rules here I guess that’s not my problem.

There is unfortunately a low tolerance threshold for people asking questions they could easily seek the answers using google. dahmage posted a helpful answer though.

I can’t express how happy I am right now. By some chance, I came across an article today discussing the reworks that were made to the original trilogy to get them up to Blu-ray quality. It’s what brought me here. I grew up watching these movies in theaters. I was too young to remember seeing star wars at the drive-ins with my parents but that wasn’t the case for the rest in theaters.

During those years, it was these movies that brought my best friend and I together. I have so many fond memories of my best friend and I going to see TESB as kids. I recall us being in such awe of the effects and vivid scenes as we watched the movie so intently, and I recall leaving the theater playing out the lightsaber fight scenes as we walked out and being so disappointed that we had to wait for the next movie to come out.

When ROTJ came out the excitement was on high again and it was so apparent that an article was written about it and was featured on a local paper. We had been waiting in a very long line to watch the movie with toys in hand, and us playing out lightsaber scenes again. A reporter had been there to write about the movie release and about the fans in the long line; it’s where he happen to see us playing. He used our story for the article in which he touches on the fact that my friend and I came from very different cultural backgrounds and yet this movie brought us closer together and how oblivious we were to our differences because of it; my friend Rason was from African American descent. About a year or two after ROTJ was released I had to move far away and in the process I lost contact with my friend. I have reminisced so much of those times since then.

I’m an old guy now and in very poor health now. I’ve been hoping and praying for so long that lucas would eventually put out the original trilogy in a SHD format, and not ones with the new CGI scenes that I have now which don’t compare. For me to get and watch these originals before I meet my demise is all I’ve ever really wanted. When I got here and saw that these films were remastered, and when I got to see some of the screen shots, I won’t lie, it brought tears to my eyes. Longer story short, I’m here now and I just signed up for an account.

I’m begging, if not pleading that one of you please provide me with links to the movies mentioned with all the features included. I’d also be willing to pay good money if someone can provide them already on working high end Blu-ray disks with all the box art work. This will also give me the opportunity to pass them on to my son. Hopefully he and I can build some memories from these movies too. I apologize for this lengthy post but I hope you will understand and see the urgency in this for me to get these movies as soon as I can. A very very big Thank You goes out to those involved in remaking these films! I really can’t express my gratitude to all of you just as I really can’t express my anger toward lucas for not releasing the original films in high quality. It’s really unfortunate that fans had to take it upon themselves to do this, but I really thank you for it!

I am really touched by this.

I could’ve given you an invite as a Christmas gift but sorry, I can’t since I am only a regular user there and I need to wait a while to become a Power User, which then I can give you an invite.

Merry Christmas, and for your quest to find the Despecialized Editions, good luck and may the Force be with you.

Thank you Swift for the suggestion. It’s ok, I’ve waited so long already that I’m sure I can wait a bit more till something comes up. There was another person who was nice enough to help but I didn’t respond on time. I’m not that good at navigating on this site and I hadn’t been back to check messages or anything; I didn’t think anyone would respond so fast being that it was during the holidays. I really do appreciate all your warm thoughts, responses, and efforts though. I can already tell this is a great community of people and I’m glad I came across this site, even if I don’t get a hold of the movies, at least I still have gained something positive from this.

Hi, I’m new to all this. Um, is there anywhere I can get these editions already put on Blu-ray, on an actual physical copy? I will actually pay for the labor into the making of the physical copies of the Original Trilogy.
