Damn, just so many great covers. This is costing me a fortune in ink. I use each for about 6 weeks then pass it on.

I got the Star Wars poster book today, by Steve Sansweet.

ANYONE thinking of doing Star Wars covers NEEDS TO BUY THIS BOOK.

It is a wonderful book and a must-read and must-have and must-scan.

There are a few odd omissions, but you'll get high quality versions of posters you love and posters you never knew existed.

Galatians 2: 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

HOLY CRAP.

i have downloaded a bunch of covers in my day, including the old cover torrent... i've seen a LOT of amazing covers, many of them better than what lucas puts out.... you, my friend, have just sealed the deal on which covers I will be putting on my shelf....

simply amazing, great work.

Wow, those are perfect!

I can fill them in with the specific specs of my future fan edits.
Can you make a similar set for the PT? Pretty please!
Half-kidding! If not, they'll also make a great case for the XO when it comes out.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Here's what I've been working on, it is simply a Star Wars Posters Edition of covers. Basically, the front and back feature two different posters, and the back lists no features, only the opening crawl from each film. The purpose of this was that people could essentially use these covers for any of the myriad of fan edits out there. Also, I have a spine spanning image of Luke vs. Darth Vader. I've already encountered some flak because this "ignores" the prequel trilogy. I chose this image not to ignore epsI-III, but because when most people think of Star Wars they usually think of Luke or Vader, not Padme, Qui-Gon, Count Dooku, or whoever. Besides, isn't Star Wars as a whole about the turn to evil (becoming Vader) and eventual redemption of Anakin Skywalker? Anyway, here's a preview of what I've done. Let me know what you think and where I could do some improving. Thanks.

You rule Coov.

The Empire one is my favorite.

Thanks for doing these - every poster in that book ought to be on SOMETHING. Well, not every one, but a few of 'em.

With that Jedi poster, I actually like the original version of that poster a lot more, the one that has a lot of extra characters and insanity going on. It just looks nicer to me.

I can see them.

The Ewok adventure posters in the poster book are annoyingly good. Some of the least interesting ideas for posters get the best artwork.

Makes me want to try a Return of the Ewok cover with bits of the various the ROTJ and Ewok posters. LOL.

A few strange omissions in the poster book though - seemingly because certain images were never made "collectible" as posters. Thus there's a lot of discussion around the alternate original versions of the Empire "Gone With the Wind" poster, the ones that contain Lando and Boba Fett, or the later one that had Yoda ... but you don't actually get to see them! (Aside from some crappy foreign repainted copies of them which look awful.)

We also don't see that rare, comic book drawing like Star Wars poster with Luke and Leia swinging with Superman like text and Leia in go-go boots. =)

And a couple of interesting images only show up as tiny afterthoughts on other posters .... there's a Jedi poster that looks kind of interesting, but is reproduced about an inch tall on another poster. (The same is true for the crappy ... Spanish? .... trilogy video covers we keep seeing pop up round here.)

These are verrry minor complaints though.

A wonderful book which cries out for a sequel just dedicated to unused, more obscure art.

OCP, I was wondering if you (or anyone really) could scan a high res poster (done in artwork not a photo) for Episode III? Textless would be nice but not a necessity. Truth be told, I'm not too fond of the front cover of my Ep.III, and would love to use something a little different. I'm not a big enough fan to buy the book, though. Just a thought.

I'm not a fan ....

LOL. If I had more time I could do it, but ask someone else.

I spend a lot of time just searching the web for good posters and images to use and just go from there. These in particular were just combined pieces from the overused posters, and pieces of not so used ones. Piecing these together gives a whole new look, and allows some of the more goofy elements to be taken out completely! Unfortunately I do all of this without the posterbook.

"Hey man, you got the poster book?"
"No."
"It'd be cooler if you did."
