Star Wars DVD Covers — Page 175

Thank you! It's a big relief to know that even if the drive fails, I still have copies in various places now. The plan is to eventually build a better computer and just use my smaller hard drives for keeping copies of my important documents. There are many great adapters that turn adapt SATA drives to USB, so that's an option. As for the large drive that failed, I'm getting a replacement eventually. I'm still pissed about all that was lost on it. It's a lesson that I wish I didn't have to learn.

Copy your files guys.

I'd like to get back to making covers, but it just isn't possible at this point. My main rig is on it's last leg, and the laptop I'm using is so old it can barely process enough data to do simple tasks. It plays music and browses the web, so I'm not completely without. I just cannot make anything on it.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Here's my covers for the despecialized trilogy. I used the Criterion-style cases so I'd have more room for the artwork.

I matched the kerning of the original crawls. I also used the 70's style Fox logo.

I also did the insides and labels.

Enjoy.

Has anyone in here made a cover for a 6 disc blu ray case? Was thinking of maybe putting fanedits for the PT (of course) and harmys as my OT into one 6 disc case.

I did these a while back. Its the prequel-style version of the original trilogy. The idea was to make modern Struzan-style posters for the original trilogy that could work individually.

Well, a while back I realized that people  have been used these designs as the official posters for articles around the web.

So, I decided to tweak it a little bit again (If George Lucas can do that, I can too!)

Here you go:

I thought it was time to revisit these again.

A significant improvement over the BD versions, as you can probably tell.

Love the look! While it's a photoshop poster, and I usually hate those, it's definitely got a great layout to it.

Found some fairly large, textless versions. Snatch 'em up quick guys. Somebody could redo the covers.

I'm saving them to the rest of my poster collection.

Can I ask who painted these?

^ I'm fairly certain they are from Noriyoshi Ohrai.

Another DVD now, this one taking direct influence from the Star Trek Remastered covers.

The other two would follow in the same vein.

I'd like to try my hand at doing Criterion-style case covers, but for the Respecialized Editions of the films.

What image dimensions/measurements did you use for these covers?

They’re about the same size as a PS4 cover.

Does anyone have a gimp template for DVD covers?

I’m trying to put together all of the canon media now, but I will do Clone Wars in future 😃

Few tips for your covers:

I find it pointless to have the STAR WARS be shown on the front like this, because not many people will put them into their shelves with the front side facing out.

The back side should definitely have a STAR WARS logo somewhere.

Palpatine on Episode VI cover is drawn, but the people on the rest of covers are real-life photos. Make Palpy on E6 cover real life too.

Episode VII doesn’t match with the other covers.

Stretch Luke on E4 cover a little bit, so he looks less fat. Apply some Feather effect on the edge, so it looks less sharp, but not too much otherwise you’re going to end up with blurry crap.

The text on the back side is too hard to read. Darken the background.

Rey on E7 cover needs anti-aliasing on edges, maybe a bit of Feather effect. So does Anakin on E3 and Clone Trooper on E2. Both of these have a white sharp outline around them.

You have potential, so keep improving.

Inused posters that were already made for the fronts of it, there wasn’t one for TFA so I had to makenit myself that’s why it looks different… Thanks for the feedback!
