Star Wars DVD Covers — Page 150

Here is the image resized this time I used a grid and used the replace color tool and made the blacks pure black so the image wasnt to contrasty.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

That's weird seeing the ESB/ROTJ posters with the regular "Star Wars" logo ...

I think they could all do with pushing the titles up a little bit - as it is there's a bit too much dead space directly above them (with the exception of ROTS, which would still look fine if the title was pushed up farther anyway).

I could do that. I'll do it after i'm done with this set. I am also doing another set. I need to do a good indiana jones set. it is a shame that kingdom of the crystal skull sticks out like a sore thumb of course I keep telling myself that it does'nt exist and the day I saw it was just a bad dream. so I'll end it with the last crusade LOL.

I made an Indiana Jones set recently - it's based on the KOTCS single-disc, but I made a KOTCS one anyway because I wasn't a fan of that cover.  I still like how Raiders looks a lot, and I like the three originals better than either my KOTCS or the official one.

The covers are for the recent re-releases (the ones that sell individually), but they're easily modified for the old 4-disc box set.

- NOTE: I'm not sure about the spine image for Last Crusade.  It's from an alternative LC poster, but it looks more like it's from ToD than LC.  I was trying to keep the theme of using a different poster for the spine image than the front.

I can upload them to Rapdishare if anyone wants the full-res copies.

And my first draft of the '90s VHS-inspired 'Star Wars' cover (Empire and Jedi forthcoming, but damn if they don't use some obscure photos for the back):

I think it still needs a Lucasfilm logo on the spine, above the THX logo, though it wasn't there on the original VHS box.  It was a catalogue number there, but this is designed for Disc 1 of the GOUT and I can't for the life of me figure out its catalogue number.

Wow those look great. And the Star Wars cover is what I was going for on my set. Good work cant wait to see the rest of the trilogy. You picked the best KOTCS poster art. the official one was to contrasty and harsh were as the others look kinda worn which I like. I tried doing a complete re do of the a new hope 90's cover but I couldnt find the han solo picture in high res. and the ESB cover I couldnt find a good clean picture of the lando they used. so I am just gonna use different pics. for a new hope i used the one with han and chewie shooting at the stormtroopers but chewie made the black text unreadable. If I could get my hands on some high resolution screencaps that would be amazing but I cant even find good enough ones on google.

The program that displays the covers in 3D is called Imandix.  Just google it.

ChainsawAsh!  I'd love those Indy covers in hi-res if you'd care to share em!  Good job with those!

I really wish Coov would come back. He made some of the most amazing covers.

Hold off on downloading that cover - I've just come across a MUCH higher-res version of the Han Solo picture for the back.  It'll be updated soon.

Sidenote: If anyone needs a high-res of said image, let me know - the one I've just run across is 2362x1598 at 72 dpi.

I'm going to erase the link from my last post.

--EDIT--

Turns out it's not the exact same image, but it's MUCH higher-res than the one I *was* using, and it's close enough for government work IMO.

Hey, I'm just curious if anyone has made a set of DVD covers based off of the THX VHS release of the OT.

Preferably a set that includes new covers for the prequel trilogy along the same vein.  I've always had a soft spot for those covers but I've been unable to find anything made with them.

Thanks!

I'm just finishing up a set based on these I'll post them in a couple of days, I've been searching for good imagery for the prequels but I'm coming up a bit short for AOTC and ROTS.

There are some, I believe somewhere throughout this thread.  I distinctly remember someone making such a set, I just never paid much attention because I've never been a fan of those covers.

Max Rebo: Wow, talk about timing.  I'm looking forward to seeing them.  If your still a bit short on imagery let me know and I'll see if I can't pull something up.

ChainsawAsh: Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep hunting, but scrolling through 150 pages on these forums is a pain.  If only I could skip more than one page at a time....

New Star Wars covers (I'm toying with the "Special Features" part - I wanted to get feedbck before I decide if it should stay or go):

I couldn't find any of the images for ESB's back, so I replaced them all.  With ROTJ, I couldn't find the big image, so I replaced that.  And since I replaced those two, I also replaced SW's, because the one I was using was very low-res.  I also raised the brightness and lowered the contrast on the large background images to help text readability (easily reverted to its previous form).  The spine image for SW was also changed because I couldn't find the original.

The ESB text block also needs to be fixed (it's slightly too high right now).  And ROTJ's UPC code needs to be replaced with the correct one (NTSC GOUT UPCs were what I used for the first two, I just forgot for ROTJ).  And if I remove the "Special Features" part, I'll change the position of the Vader image on ESB to help make it balance out better (that's actually why I did the features part anyway, because ESB had so much dead space at the bottom).

Thoughts? Suggestions?  Any are welcomed - they'll be uploaded at full res when they're done and polished.

they look good but the cover for a new hope is too contrasty almost like it was bled on.
