Coov, that's another fine piece of art!

Look, I know coov does some cool sets 'an all, but taking a few snaps a putting then on the fancy DVD 3D thing is not really 'art'

Don't want to piss on your fire coov, but man, you can't make a turd shine.

Please don't take this the wrong way, because you really do come up with some nice 'Art' for various covers, it just these are just, well, lazy.

But who gives a monkeys what I think anyways

Coov took the time and made the effort to acquire the scans of the old SW lunch boxes, and make covers out of them, and hopefully eventually share them, and hes the one being lazy......yeah, right....

What's the matter Hot Rod? Why the grumpiness?

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Agreed vbangle. Coov, as well as the other dvd artists here take the time to acquire scans of SW, and other related images, or scan items themselves to make dvd covers to share with us, and to distribute around. Taking the time to find, scan, and work it into a dvd cover is work itself.

I personally like the set, Coov. I don't know what HotRod's problem is with it.

Calm down, Jesus Christ!!

All I'm saying that it's not really 'art'.

Someone can take a scan of their cock and make it look like a DVD, would you call it art? Well some of you guys probably would, but I wouldn't. That's all. Calm down.
We're all entitled to our own opinions.

Like I said. Coov does some wonderful covers, it's just I find these not so good and a little lazy that's all. Is that ok with you guys, can I still go on living now!?!?!

Well, that's out of my system. I think I'd like the covers a bit more if they had the handles on the spines, but they are still fun.
And I'm glad to see Hot Rod survived the roasting!

The intent of these was to take the front and back of the lunch boxes and make DVD covers out of them. That's done. Nothing else was needed, other than the scans. Once you have nice scans, anyone could have done it sure, but it was the fact that he made the effort to do so. Throw extra words on there and you detract from the art. Do these need to be used as a DVD cover? No. But Coov made them into covers.

What could he have done to be less "lazy" while still meeting his original intentions?

Coov just did these for himself. Nobody asked him for them, he wanted to do them. And he thought to post them here since he had come here asking for hi-res scans of the lunch boxes. I don't see the point in attacking him for it. For those of us who grew up with those lunch boxes they are really cool. If you didn't, then I am sure they are just crappy looking pictures put sideways on a DVD cover. Coov has done some of the best cover art out of anyone here. Coov wasn't the one to call his work art either, that was somebody else. Lazy would be if he didn't make any cover art ever.

Oh I don't think he's attacking him

Hot Rod, valid point. But I think he's going for as generic a cover as possible. A lot of his stuff contains nonsequitur information because he's maintaining ambiguity and allowing for them to be used for any set, any DVD, etc. The specific point of these covers though, is so it looks like you're carrying around a Star Wars lunch box, so that's why I think he left them alone.

It's also good with these creative esoteric sources to keep them pretty much blank so they can be altered or used by somebody else. Like Darth Solo's manga sets, completely blank, but allows for them to be made available for a number of uses.

Anyway...

Describing the individual specs of the disc is a perfect use, also, for the copious blank space on my covers

Well, if you put it like that, then I can see the point of it all

The biggest effort was in finding the art used. Anchorhead made it easy for me for the best one. Thanks again! The others are nowhere the quality of Anchorheads scans, but they will do I guess.

The only purpose of these is to bring those back fortunate enough to remember the time where we would be climbing on a school bus with the clanging tin lunch box. The nasty smells that a sandwich, chips and an apple could create would never be reason enough to sink to the level of a brown paper sack. It is all about going back... not "art".

Art is the ability to piss in a jar of blasphemy.

Galatians 2: 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

And eating that lunch in the Cafetorium, sitting at the big folding tables, with the lunch box sitting upright - door opened toward you, so no one could see inside. Oh yeah, and trying to come up with trades so you could get rid of the apple and get someone's chocolate milk instead.

Great idea and execution. Glad I could be of assistance. I got a kick out of bringing my lunchbox to work so I could scan it.

I like the Lego covers, Pat. They're creative and a breath of fresh air from the usual dvd covers we post here.
