Got mine today Garrett. Thanks a bunch. All I can say is WOW! I threw this up on my 106" screen and it blew me away. Great job on this and thanks again for letting me relive 1977 when I saw this in the theater about 6 or 7 times.

In regards to the pan and scan overlay trick. I believe that the Panning is different depending on the transfer.

I know that the opening pan-down is panned different in the DC and Faces releases in ANH. The Faces panning shows Tattoines moons better.

Hi all.

I received this disc and Return Of The Ewok last week.

The editing job in the Classic Edition is amazing. Of course, knowing where the special edition shots should be, you can pick some color differences but you must be searching for them. Both sources blend together very very well.

The commentary track seems to be great (and an incredible amount of work!), although I hadn't time to go through it.

I didn't check the isolated score since I already have the Editdroid version. Hey, Garret, did you reassemble the score by yourself or did you just take any of the existing versions? Just curious.

The only thing about this edition is, as somebody mentioned, the artifacts. Editing an MPEG2 and also make it fit on a DVD5 creates a lot of them. It's a pity but, as Garret says, it is what it is.

About Return Of The Ewok, the restoration work is fine, knowing the source material (we are talking about most parts of the short film taken from a camcorder screener). It was hard to me to follow the dialog. The sound wasn't that great and... well... I'm not english, so... both things together made it difficult to follow. An interesting film, though.

I haven't seen all of the extras yet. I went for the Star Tours video. I wish it had more quality. I have a camcorder screener of it that looks better (I don't know if somebody has it), but has the problems of being recorded from the seat of a flying simulator.

I checked out the Jabba scene, since it was improved with some footage I provided. It looks better than the previous version, of course.

I also got "Indulgence", a film starring Garret itself. It has some boring parts, but is pretty funny. Garret's performance is hysterical and hilarious. He emphasizes the words a lot when he's speaking, so it's quite easy for me to follow his dialogue. The story is simple and there are some good gags ("We have a very low budget" ). Both female characters are so sweet and funny (there's a green haired nurse and a pornstar called Sprinkles). There are two "south park-ed" beer bottles, too.

Well, I think that's all.

Nice discs, Garret.

Thanks Jed! Glad you dug the discs. Sorry you were stymied by the dialogue in Return of the Ewok - it's not very clearly recorded and I can see how a non-English native speaker would have trouble with it. Hell, some of the minor jokes took me a couple of watches to hear properly!

Glad you liked Indulgence. I liked Sprinkles a lot myself - the talented Lora Story. Although the director of that film and I had a lot of personal differences later and hate each other now, I'm still proud of the film.

The Isolated score is taken from the Editdroid 2, with many thanks to the talented creators of the Editdroid discs.

Ocp,

Awesome, awesome, awesome job...i'm impressed to the point of doubling over. Just watched it tonight with my little sister (Who hadn't seen it to this point - she's 10) & my parents and even grandparents; what a fabulous time. A 100' projection does it such justice...

I'll stop befoe I go on drooling, but seriously it was just as you said: the only copy of Star Wars one will need. For sure.

(Untill the X0 project at least... )

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Any chance of someone putting this up as a torrent some time soon? (best)
Or, alternatively, letting me know how I can order a copy of this? (almost as good)

Er, you could, you know, ask the creator. You know, me. Via PM or email.

er, yes... so, OCP, how can I get this? Do you know if anyone's sharing it as a torrent? if not, how much are you charging to burn a copy and send it out?

Classic Edition and Return of the Ewok (and Special Edition Hype) are not yet torrented.

With all the people who have copies, these SHOULD be torrented by now.

So, this is an official request. Someone - get these discs torrenting, now. All right?

For all other requests, email tygerbug at yahoo dot com.

I noticed some slight "jittering" in ANH that really bugged me.

Anyone else see this?

I've talked to OCP - once I get back to school I might buy a copy from him, but I'd rather DL it - can anyone here torrent it or post it on a.b.starwars?

Hey folks, I decided to whip up a cover for Classic Edition. I considered the "Fight Club" paper wrapper motif that ocpmovie recommended, but went for something a little more "official" looking. This cover will still work with the disc label though.

Let me know what you think.

Interesting cover! The colors on Luke and Leia are weird - oversaturated, way too dark, lacking subtlety, considering the rest of the cover - but otherwise a nice design.

Thanks. "Interesting". Hmm. I guess I can take that as a compliment.

I used a version of the Carnival poster I found in the HI-Res Poster Art thread. It seems to be a slightly different version of the artwork, perhaps an early draft. I personally like the colors in this alternate version. You can really see that the twin orbs in the bottom right are supposed to be Tatooine's suns. But now that you mention it, Luke and Leia are a little too red and dark. If you could help me find a hi-res copy of the version you used for the label, I might try to fix Luke and Leia.

Any recommendations for the text on the back?

I do have a high-res version of the real style D poster.

Maybe I'll upload it sometime, I avoid this as I'm on dialup!
