"Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game" a Galactus & MoveAlong Production

Hello Everyone!

I have lurked around here for quite awhile, and have posted very rarely. I am simply amazed by the incredible projects so many people in this community have put together. I am a big fan of a lot of the fan edits and preservation projects around here!

"Star Wars: Bounty Hunter" was released in 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube videogame consoles. The game tells an essential story of the Star Wars universe: why and how Count Dooku chose Jango Fett as the template for the clone army. The story in the game takes place ten years before the events of "Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones."

The game marked the first collaboration between LucasArts and Industrial Light and Magic on a game's cinematic cut scenes. In total they created over 30 minutes of cinematics which were interspersed between game levels to advance the storyline.

In 2005, I discovered the .sfd video files on the PlayStation 2 version of the game and converted them to DVD compliant .mpg video files. This began the idea to create a fan preservation DVD project. Over the next year, I gathered as much material as possible from the Internet concerning the game, and mapped out ideas for a DVD project.

In the summer of 2006, MoveAlong agreed to use all the material I had assembled and produce a professional quality DVD. MoveAlong created all the menu screens and handled all technical aspects of authoring the DVD. I knew, after seeing his excellent "The Story of Star Wars" DVD that MoveAlong had the technical skills and creativity I was looking for to complete this project.

The fruition of our partnership is "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game."

The portion of the DVD that is viewable in a standard DVD player contains over 30 minutes of cinematics presented in 16x9 anamorphic widescreen. The audio is in stereo, optimized for Dolby Surround: Pro Logic II. Also included are outtakes, commercials and trailers for the game, behind the scenes clips, character profiles, image slideshows, and even a few easter eggs!

The DVD-ROM portion of the disc includes a comprehensive archive of all things related to "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter." In this section you will find text, images, video, and audio related to the game. From concept art to gameplay videos, game music to the official web site....it's all here. You will also find "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game" DVD case and disc artwork that you can print out.

MoveAlong and I hope the community here will enjoy it!

Special thanks for assistance and inspiration: Darksaber, LordJedi, mMathab, Kaal-Jhyy, daveytod, and these forums. I personally want to give MoveAlong a very special thanks for delivering a DVD that far exceeded all my expectations.

This DVD is freely available at myspleen.net and periodically on alt.binaries.starwars.

Here's some screen captures of the cut scenes from the game:

This looks to be an interesting project. Galactus is correct. The cut scenes are really quite stunning. They have a nice cinematic feeling to them. Galactus has collected a treasure trove of all things Bounty Hunter and this DVD should be a nice volume for fans of the game. As he said, I am taking his sources and whipping them into shape. I really enjoy authoring, so I'm looking forward to getting this out. If anyone has any source material that you think would be nice, just let Galactus know. This is his road. I'm just directing traffic...

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

MoveAlong might be being a little modest in regard to his help on this project. I wouldn't say as much that he's directing traffic on the road to this project, I'd say he's helping to pave the road! This would not be possible without him. I do not have the technical knowledge to produce a DVD of the caliber I was looking for.

As I mentioned, there are a few things I'm still looking for to round out the DVD-ROM section of the disc. I think I have all of the U.S. print advertisements for the game. I would be grateful if anyone could provide scans of advertisements from other countries. I have a lot of stuff already, but please don't hesitate to mention if you think you have something of interest...no matter how minor it might be! Thanks in advance!

what about scanning/including some comic materials?

(great project, btw - look forward to watching this)

I've thought about adding scans of the "Jango Fett: Open Seasons" comic book to the DVD-ROM section, but probably won't because of space considerations. The story does somewhat relate to the game as it does include Montross, the Mandalorian who is in competition with Jango throughout the game.

If you complete certain goals in the game, you can unlock images from that comic book, concept art, CCG cards, and outtakes. A lot of this stuff will be on the DVD.

There are a couple of other things I am looking for to include:

-- G4 broadcast a couple of reports in 2002 about the release of the game. One thing was an episode of "Screen Savers" that interviewed game director Jon Knoles. If anyone has a recording of this or any other footage broadcast on G4 about the game, I would love to check it out!

-- In the U.K., there was a promotion upon the release of the game called "The Hunt Begins." There was a web site set up at www.thehuntbegins.co.uk, but it's gone now. Has anyone happened to have archived this site, or have any images from it or this promotion? The page for this site at the Internet Archive can be seen HERE, but it is very incomplete.

Anyone who helps with any of this stuff will be credited on the final DVD. Thanks for any help!

Glad to see I brought back the subject on the priority list
Galactus, I sent you a PM about material for the DVD-Rom.

If you go to the official site there are storyboards for one of the cutscenes, as well as profiles, and samples, of the voice actors. There's also 4 mp3s of music used in the game

Let me know if you'd like me to grab these for you, if it's something you're interested in

Thanks for your comments guys!

I have all that material from the official site. In fact, I've downloaded the entire official site for the game, and all of it will be in the DVD-ROM portion of this release. That way you can check it all out without going online to do so.

Does anyone happen to have scans of the entire Prima Strategy Guide for Bounty Hunter? It's a pretty thick book, and scanning all of it would really be a chore. Any help is always appreciated!

Do you already have the hi-rez promo shots of Jango Fett, posters and Official Screen Themes/Wallpapers?

I've got the strategy guide at home, but I have no time to scan it right now. Are you guys planning to release this soon? It'd probably take me at least a week to get it all scanned and I wouldn't be able to start it until the end of this week.

Thanks for the link russs15! I'm not 100% sure we can use that Bounty Hunter "Galaxy Guide" PDF. It's from 1994 and has no mention of Jango Fett or any connection to the game. It's an awesome book, but we're going to be dealing with space limitations in the DVD-ROM section, and I don't think we'll be able to include anything that doesn't directly relate to the game.

Thanks for the offer concerning the strategy guide lordjedi! I'll be sending you a PM.

MoveAlong has really been doing some amazing work on this DVD, and Darksaber has designed a sweet DVD cover and disc labels. These guys have really gone above and beyond the call of duty!

Well, I've completed the 1st draft and sent it off for Galactus' inspection. Shouldn't be too long before this is out.

There is A LOT of stuff on this. Although I'm not a PT fan at all (or a gamer, for that matter), this has been a great and ambitious DVD project to work on. Galactus has really put together an enormous amount of content. I think this will deserve a place on any fan's shelf. We've thrown in a few surprises, so people should have some fun with this...

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

I've received the "first draft" of the DVD from MoveAlong, and I've watched it several times over. We decided to make just a couple of very minor changes, and we'll be ready to go. Although they look fantastic, the screen shots MoveAlong posted don't do this DVD justice. What he has put together is really amazing, and I think collectors of these kinds of preservation projects are in for a real treat. Speaking of treats, here's the DVD cover designed for us by Darksaber, with a few tweaks by MoveAlong:

Thanks to Darksaber for your help! This DVD will be released very soon.........
