Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share that I have completed the preservation of the Star Wars (A New Hope) Hong Kong LaserDisc release. Thanks to the invaluable assistance of ooJason, the release is now listed in the forum’s master thread: 📍 250+ available Original Trilogy Preservations - some from a long time ago . . . . 📍 thread!

Technical Details:
Title: droid1138 1995 Star Wars (A New Hope) Hong Kong LaserDisc Preservation
Source: Star Wars (A New Hope) Hong Kong LaserDisc
LD Player: Pioneer CLD-D503
Capture: S-Video → Samsung DVD/VCR recorder (DVD-VR357)
Audio: Stereo RCA into the DVD/VCR recorder
Format: Pan & Scan
File Size: (3.18 + 1.32) 4.5 GB Total
File Types: MKV

As with previous releases, the Samsung recorder’s digital output let me bridge the analog LD signal to modern equipment while capturing clean video and audio. It also helped as a means to connect the LD Player to the TV, as this DVD/VCR model has an HDMI port and Optical Out. Enjoy and MTFBWY!

Amazing - and probably the rarest Star Wars laserdisc out there!

This 1995 release is one I’m very much looking forward to viewing - especially given the quality of your 1995 Korean Original Trilogy Laserdisc preservation - and also your Indiana Jones Trilogy - Korean LaserDiscs Preservation Project, too. 👍

Hi! Thanks so much! Unfortunately, the seller only had Star Wars available. I asked for ESB and ROTJ, and if any pops up, I could be notified so I can maybe purchase any if they appear. I’m actively searching for them, along with the elusive Japanese Rental Trilogy (I have not seen a photo or any official information yet). I can’t complain, though, being able to find the complete Korean Trilogy and the HK Star Wars has been really amazing.
