Thanks for the heads-up. Tartakovsky's Clone Wars was a good production in my opinion, I enjoyed it more than the new movies. So, being a bit skeptic about 3D animation, I would be content if this one is as good as that.

Rob Coleman: "It will be George Lucas quality."

Take that however you want to.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

Ouch! Bad omen.

That didn't slip past me either. Hopefully he just means the quality of the animation and not of everything else. The first two prequels did at least get nominated for visual effects oscars.

Did you see the other video demo? I watched a little of it and it looked like a Jedi fight off the Blue Man Group. Or worse, Smurfs.

That bit of footage has been around since ROTS was being made. It is Obi-Wan fighting off Grievous' guards on Utapau (sp). This sequence was cut from ROTS and replaced by Obi-Wan dropping that crate thing on the guards.

speaking of the new tv shows, what's possibly the first glimpse what the animation will look like was revealed this weekend at toyfare. Plus, there's some potentially major news about the live action show.... check out the news bit at jediarchives:

Um, Yoda looks like some Nintendo 64 era video game character...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I think Yoda looks like a 3-D version of Tarkovsky's design.

So Lucas is essentially remaking the clone wars series from 2003; yeah, its illogical. And for the N64, it was an okay system, but off topic

Don't get me wrong, I love the N64, but it's hardly graphically capable of producing computer animated media on a professional level, even when it was first released.

does anybody actually want this?

I think everyone is more interested in where they can go with a live action series. But to experiment with this first seems to be a waste of time and pushes any further shows farther back. Granted it may be good, but is it just going to be the clone wars redux?I get the feeling that this is a show for George more than a show for the fans.

They should have left clone wars in the capable hands of Tartakovsky [sp?] and focused on other shows themselves imo.

It will be Geoge Lucas quality indeed.

I'm weary to see how the animated show is going to be. The fist two volumes of the clone wars I though were good and although it could be said they were relatively short it was the quality over quantity debate and in my opinion quality heavily outweighed quantity. I think this second run is going to be much more quantity with a LOT less quality. Especially now thats is more directly in GL's hands. Has anyone heard anything about how long either TV shows are supposed to run (Live action or animated)?

Well early on GL mentioned something about wanting to do 100 hrs. I took that to mean 100 episodes. e could have been referring to either project or just stating what he'd like.

I've seen various sources [including steve sansweet ]indicate that the animated series episodes would be 30 minutes, so approx. 22 minutes each i'd say, allowing for commercials.

I'm not sure whether they are planning to get 'clone wars' up and running and then have both shows in production together later on, or totally get it made and out of the way first.

IMO for a live action series you'd need an hour long timeslot to make it worthwhile. 30 mintes is a pretty short slot and more suited to comedies and soap operas. They'd probably be better off producing a number of mini-series' instead

I can't back any of that up with quotes, It's just what I seem to recall [and opine].

I think the whole concept of a SW TV series is just surreal for me; but Lucas has to do work because those independent films he wanted to work on for over 20 years don't exist.
